TPO回收|汽车内外饰料呆滞了别硬扛,科隆新材终端消化把死钱变活钱

Lao Lin makes car bumpers in Ningbo, and those two trays of Exxtral TPO pellets in the warehouse have been sitting on the tray for almost a year. During a model update, the bumper mold was modified, and the TPE co-mix in inventory suddenly increased by eight or nine tons. The bag surface was a bit damp, the pellets were grayish, and the warehouse staff checked the ledger to find the material was custom-made to the manufacturer's matte standards, with limited versatility. Lao Lin squatted at the workshop entrance to do the math: TPO peeled after absorbing moisture from injection molding, like a wall painted a second time before it was fully dry—the surface was hazy.

Obsolete parts aren't assets, they're liabilities lying on the books.

TPO this stuff, bosses dealing with car bumpers, dashboards, and interiors every day. It's a blend of PP and elastomer, lightweight and impact-resistant, but afraid of moisture absorption and precipitation. Once the packaging breaks, the pellet surface absorbs water, and when heated during injection molding, silver lines appear; The filling and fiberglass content differ, so the price difference can reach two to three thousand per ton. What's even more troublesome is that TPO is basically customized by model: matte, high-gloss, and weather-resistant each has its own material. Sellers buy materials regardless of model, treating each ton as a ton. TPO sits like a fermented bun—it still smells like flour, but doesn't feel chewy when squeezed.

The essence of recycling isn't selling scrap, but turning dead money into working money.

Let me tell a real story. A boss called in a bulk supplier, who pinched a piece of TPO and rubbed it, saying the filling was too high and the surface was foggy, so he charged at the floor price. The wholesaler's calculations are even more sophisticated than your accountant's—he takes them back and mixes them into low-end daily necessities, adds some toughening agents when toughness isn't enough, and the pots and jars he makes up for it, with all the price difference going into his pocket. Think about it, what he says isn't good—it's not that he really has no customers, but that he doesn't have any subsidiaries for the car factory himself. Some dealers are even more ruthless, not even testing the filling content, mixing Exxtral and generic TPO into a whole truck.

Wholesalers aren't helping you deal with scrap; they're using your good materials to subsidize their inferior materials.

Kelong New Materials is taking the path of terminal digestion. We have long-term downstream clients in automotive interiors and exteriors, modified PP, and home appliance parts. For brands like Exxtral and TAFMER, which have high circulation, we buy them that match the customer's formula and sell directly without inventory pressure. If the batch is slightly off, we can digest it into our own modified formula system, regardless of filling or batch. Pricing is graded by melting finger, filling content, and impact strength, with one price per grade, clearly stated on the recycling form. With our own production capacity and customer backing, our quotes are stable and don't fluctuate with market trends.

Good material isn't afraid of no buyers; what's worrisome is selling good material as waste.

On the day of the on-site evaluation, our technician brought a portable melting finger meter and a color difference tester, measuring melt fingers and filling content on site, recording matte highlights separately. You are present and weigh the materials; the weight, weight, and net weight of the leather are all aligned. Automotive interior and exterior materials require scent; we smell and check if there is any sedimentation, then write it on the grading sheet on the spot.

A different method is more cost-effective—swap recycled materials for new ones. Five-step process: First, submit materials, take photos, specify the brand number, tonnage, and city; We conduct on-site grading assessment, then quote on the spot after testing; On-site weighing and receiving the goods; The recovery payment is directly deducted from your purchase of new materials from Cologne; Final settlement and invoice issuance. A long-term client of an instrument panel company had about 8 tons of TPO obsolete material stored in the warehouse. By grading, nearly half of the new material payment was offset, saving about 30,000 yuan in cash flow. The new product brought back was the full range of QUANICE elastomers, which were directly added to the production line for renewal.

To put it bluntly, scrap isn't something you can't accept; it depends on how you handle it.

As for specific grades, we regularly recycle mainstream TPO grades such as ExxonMobil, Vistamaxx, Dow Engage, Infuse, Mitsui Chemicals TAFMER, and Dawn TPO; Other manufacturers like SABIC use grades based on physical appraisal. Recyclable forms include obsolete raw material (whole pallets or loose packs), bumper sprue material, extrusion gate material, pelletizer head material, scrap parts, and inventory residual material. Filler and pure materials should be packed separately, not mixed together.

To be honest, TPO is customized by vehicle model, and once the model is updated, inventory becomes a burden. But for modification factories, as long as the fusion fingers and fillers match, they can still be mixed. The key is not to let dealers eat your automotive-grade premium material at the wholesale price.

Say a few words to avoid pitfalls. Is recycling just selling cheaply? The truth is selling by grade and grade; good materials can be sold at good prices. No one wants custom parts? The truth is finding the right end customers; modification factories and home appliance factories are all looking for suppliers. Who bids the higher price? The truth is, they bargain, weigh down, and delay payment when they get it, and the price is even worse than the three companies
