Let me tell a real story. A boss called in a wholesaler, who picked up a piece of silicone and broke it off, saying the compound was hard and structured, and charged at floor price. The wholesaler's calculations were even more sophisticated than your accountant's—he took it back and mixed it into low-grade sealing rings, added some oil if the hardness was off, and the rings cracked after two months, pocketing the price difference. Think about it, what he said was useless—not because he really had no customers, but because he had no medical or food-grade clients himself. Some dealers were even more ruthless, not even distinguishing hardness, mixing KE-551 and generic silicone into one bag.
Wholesalers aren't helping you deal with scrap; they're using your good materials to make up for their poor materials.

Recyclable forms include stagnant mixed rubber material (whole trays or loose blocks), molded gate material, button scraps, sealing ring scraps, and inventory scrap. Structured rubber blocks should be sampled separately; don't mix them with new glue. Cured rubber blocks after vulcanization have large physical properties, so negotiate prices separately.
To be honest, silicone structure hardens gradually. If you hold it today, it's still soft, but after half a year, it's as hard as rubber bricks. While the compound can still be mixed, find someone with buttons and cable miscellaneous parts to pick it up, grade it to offset new material, which is better than wasting time in the warehouse.
