PC/PS为什么难处理?
Old Liang was working in Suzhou specializing in industrial parts. A batch of PC/PS custom alloy material was stored in the warehouse due to the production line switching. This material was originally specially mixed according to the customer's drawings, with only internal material numbers on the bags, and no public grade was found. Once the production line was switched, the new line ran the PC/ABS system, and these four tons of PC/PS instantly became dead stock "knowing it's good material but not knowing who to sell it to." He asked the procurement company to ask the original mixing factory if they could adjust it, but the other party said, "We don't have inventory pressure on this material either," leaving him speechless for a long time.
PC/PS, such a niche alloy, is even harder to find a new supplier for custom parts when it sits still.
Material is small and the crowd is small; the rest is the boss squatting in the warehouse daydreaming. Why is
PC/PS so hard to handle? It combines the strength of PC with the ease of forming PS, specifically for special parts that require high fluidity and strength. But precisely because it's a niche alloy with limited usage, few people can handle the second-hand market. It's like a niche medicinal material—you know it's valuable, but even the pharmacy owner might not recognize it and can only give it at a lower price. Ordinary recyclers get it and don't know what percentage of your bag of PC is made of, or if filler is added, so they just label it as an "unknown alloy." The unit price isn't low, but the storage holds both funds and rent, and over time the PC part absorbs moisture, making the surface look dark.
Niche materials aren't afraid of being expensive, but that no one knows how much it's worth.
Also notes: niche alloys have small usage volumes, and there are hardly any fixed buyers in the second-hand market. If you hold for three months, the few customers who might have taken the material switch production, and fewer and fewer people are willing to ask prices. The more you wait, the fewer people will buy.
Now let's talk about scrap collectors. You make a round of calls, nine out of ten people say "we're not doing this material" as soon as they hear PC/PS, and the tenth pretends to be very familiar and quotes prices as low as the floor. Wholesalers encounter niche alloys with surprisingly consistent tactics: first they deceive you, "This material is too niche, we won't find a buyer," then buy at the standard price and resell it to modification factories to try their luck. Some are even more ruthless—they bargain without even checking the price—anyway, you won't find a second seller to ask for a price, so whatever they say goes. To put it bluntly, they're not buying goods; they're betting on your rush to clear out your warehouse, and if you win, you get a bargain.
Choosing the wrong person for niche materials is even worse than sitting idle.
Kolon New Materials handles end-use digestion recycling; we can handle niche alloys like PC/PS. We have customers who have long made special industrial and structural parts using various PC-based alloys. Popular batches can be picked up and sold the same day, so no inventory pressure is required. When encountering unconventional formulas, mixed batches, or unlabeled products, we bring them back to the factory for physical property testing, grade them according to actual tests, and use our own modified formulas for proportional digestion, ensuring no choice between grades and batches. Pricing is graded based on measured strength, flowability, and appearance, with clear pricing—not "bargaining without a new supplier." With our own production capacity and fixed customers as a backup, our quotes are stable and don't fluctuate wildly with market trends.
Niche materials aren't afraid of being small; what worries is that no one dares to take them seriously.
Five-step cooperation process: material reporting, grading evaluation, on-site receipt, deduction of payment, settlement and invoice. You order the appearance and quantity of the material bags, and what they originally used to be made. We grade and quote based on the physical item, and once agreed, we come to the door to pick up the goods. The recovered payment can be directly used to offset your subsequent purchase of new materials—for engineering plastics, we have our own KONICE modified plastics series. For Suzhou Laoliang's four tons of PC/PS, we brought them back to the factory for physical property testing and discounted them to a real price, which directly offset about half of his purchase price for KONICE's modified materials for the second half of the year. The bag without a disclosed grade was not given special attention.
Turning niche materials that no one recognizes into materials recognized by the next supplier.
We have received quite a few recyclable PC/PS grades. Mainstream systems for custom PC/PS alloys like SABIC LNP and RTP are within the regular acceptance range; Other brands, formulas, and even unlabeled PC/PS are also welcome to submit materials, subject to actual product appraisal. Recyclable forms include obsolete raw material (whole pallets or loose packages are fine), sprue and gate materials, specialty scrap and machine head scraps, industrial scrap and defective products, and inventory scrap from project closures. Even if the label is off, as long as you can say what you originally made, you can negotiate .
Three Pitfall Tips. "Niche materials, just pick any scrap material collector?" The truth is, for materials no one recognizes, you need to find someone who can actually test them. "Waiting for the next project?" The truth is, projects don't wait for people; the more you put them in, the narrower the material gets. "Whoever sells at the highest price?" The truth is, with no other dealer, they can only offer you a uniform price.
Compliance: Proper recycling and disposal, complete weighing and recycling forms, traceable flow, able to cooperate with environmental audits and ISO audits, never passing to illegal small workshops
