Old Wu's hardware workshop is in Yinzhou, making precision gears and wear-resistant sliders. On the inner side of the warehouse are four bags of PA1010, which were kept when receiving export orders a few years ago. After the order was finished, the customer withdrew, leaving the material there. The bags still bear the old factory logo, cobwebs are tied in the corners, and forklift drivers always walk around as they pass by.
Old Wu did the math: This material wasn't cheap back then, but now the model has long been replaced, and new orders use other long carbon chain materials. Saving them takes up space, throwing them away feels painful, and no one knows who wants them when selling. When I asked the wholesale supplier, they couldn't even pronounce PA1010, and immediately said, "Nylon is the same price."
The problem with stagnant material isn't that no one wants it, but that you yourself forget it's still in the warehouse.
PA1010 is an old variety among long-chain nylon—flexible, oil-resistant, and not brittle at low temperatures, making it very suitable for precision mechanical parts. But its distribution is narrow, and only a few downstream factories accept it, unlike PA66, which is everywhere. It also absorbs moisture. Long carbon chains are gentler than short ones, but after being stored for a while, they still absorb water. When used for precision parts, they drift, just like old leather shoes that lose shape and lose shape after being stored for a long time.
High unit price, few people recognize it, and it absorbs moisture even when sitting. The more you delay, the heavier it gets.
Plastic won't raise prices just because you can't bear to sell; it will only slowly age in the warehouse.
You ask the scrap collector to estimate, but when they see the pellets, they say, "Oh, nylon," and just return it to the bulk market. He can't tell the difference between PA1010 and PA6; in his eyes, both are "nylon," so if they can pay you half the price of regular nylon, that's already good.
Some dealers are even more outrageous, first quoting prices over the phone, saying, "I have a channel to sell this material at a high price," then when the truck arrives at the weighbridge room, they start nitpicking: dirty bag openings, yellow color, suspected mixed materials, cutting down one by one. You unload the goods, then haul them back and you'll have to pay another shipping fee, so you have no choice but to accept the loss.
This is called fishing first, then killing—turning your hesitation into their profit.
The seller's quote sounds like market price, but it's actually betting on your urgency.
Cologne specializes in terminal digestion, specializing in this kind of long-carbon chain material that is "few people recognize it, but downstream has a place to go."
Grilamid this kind of long-chain PA1010, our long-chain modified customers have been using it. After grading and receiving it, we connect directly without inventory pressure. For niche batches, domestic materials, or unclear labels, we use Cologne's own modified formula and supply oil- and wear-resistant modified materials downstream, regardless of brand or batch.
Pricing is graded by grade, physical properties, and appearance. PA1010 is priced at PA1010 and is not confused with ordinary nylon. With modification capacity and customers backing the back, the quote is stable, and they won't overwhelm your material just because the market is cold this month.
Truly valuable materials are never sold by luck, but by someone who knows where they come from.
The process is simple: you submit materials, we grade and appraisal, large quantities come to collect goods, collection proceeds are deducted from new material payments, and invoices are settled.
After so many years in business, one of the most common questions from bosses is, "How much is my material really worth?" Actually, the answer isn't complicated: materials that can be clearly distinguished and maintain their condition are more expensive than selling mixed loads; Selling one day earlier means losing a month's worth of rent and interest.
Let me tell a true story. A factory in Cixi that makes wear-resistant parts has about 3 tons of PA1010 after the project ended, and the bags are all old. We went to the door, and two bags in good condition were sent to the modified customer along the long carbon chain, one bag of damp bulk material was added to the formula, and the recycling payment was used to offset the next order of KONICE's modified plastics. Old Wu said the warehouse suddenly emptied up with two rows of pallets, and the weight in his heart was lifted.
Replacing the space-occupied dead material with new material quotas is what revitalization really means.
To put it bluntly, your material takes two or three hands to be dumped in others' hands, but here in Cologne, it can directly meet the demand from upstream and downstream needs. The savings from those resale steps and bargaining during weighing and bargaining are all returned to your quotation.
Currently widely circulated, we have been collecting year-round: EMS-GRIVORY Grilamid 1S. Other PA1010 grades, domestic long-carbon chain materials, and old factory materials are subject to physical appraisal.
Recycling forms: obsolete original packaging, sprue and gate materials, offcuts, machine head materials, defective parts, and inventory residues are all accepted, with clear labeling and no serious contamination. Long-carbon chain materials are especially vulnerable to mixed materials; mixing with other nylons greatly reduces their value. It's better to distinguish them when reporting materials.
"PA1010 is too niche, no one buys it?" "The truth is, niche doesn't mean it's worthless; it just means understanding that its downstream isn't in the scrap market.
"Hold it for now, waiting for old customers who make precision parts to come back?" "The truth is the material is aging, warehouses are collecting rent, customers haven't arrived, and the material is already worthless."
"Is selling nylon in bulk easier?" "The truth is that the price difference between long-chain and short-chain nylon is significant; selling in bulk is basically freeing up the price difference."
