Old Liang works in Dongguan making shoe materials and hoses. The two Elastollan 1185A pallets in the warehouse have been sitting on pallets for almost half a year. A foreign trade client cut an order, and the TPU pellets in inventory suddenly increased by five or six tons. The bag surface was a bit damp, the pellets were yellowish, and the warehouse manager checked the ledger and found the unit price wasn't cheap—just the cash and additional space fees cost nearly 5,000 a month. Old Liang squatted at the workshop entrance to do the accounts: after TPU absorbed moisture, injection molding started to bubble, like boiling water overflowing into a pot. The tubes were covered in tiny bubbles, and after pressing tests, they leaked.

Stagnant material isn't an asset, it's a liability lying on the books.

TPU this stuff, the boss dealing with pipes, cable films, and footwear every day. It's a polyurethane-type thermoplastic elastomer, wear-resistant, oil-resistant, and highly resilient, but it's naturally sensitive to moisture. Once the packaging breaks, the pellet surface absorbs water, and during injection molding, heating it causes bubbles to break down. What's even more troublesome is that Shore hardness ranges from 75A to 95A, and polyester and polyether types have a big price gap. Sellers don't even distinguish between the two—one ton is worth a ton. TPU absorbs moisture like soaking a sponge in water—no matter how much you bake it, you can't dry that moisture. You might think it's usable after baking, but actually the molecular weight has quietly dropped, and the tubes you make crack in just two months.

The essence of recycling isn't selling waste, but turning dead money into working money.

Let me tell a true story. A boss called in a wholesaler, who picked up a TPU capsule and said it was yellowed or over-dried, so he charged at floor price. The wholesaler's calculations were even more cunning than your accountant's—he took them back and mixed them into low-grade shoe sole materials, added some filler if durability wasn't enough, and the finished soles would be worn flat after a month, pocketing the difference. Think about it, what he said was useless wasn't because he really had no clients, but because he had no pipes or shoe materials for his own suppliers. Some dealers were even more ruthless, not even distinguishing polyester and polyether, mixing 1185A with generic TPU to fill the whole truck.

The wholesaler isn't helping you deal with scrap; they're using your good materials to make up for their inferior materials.

Kelong New Materials is taking the path of terminal digestion. We have long-term downstream clients dealing in pipes, cable films, and footwear. For high-circulation grades like Elastollan 1185A and Desmopan 1920, we accept them that match the customer's formula and sell directly without inventory pressure. If we encounter batches that are slightly off, we can incorporate them into our own modified formula system, regardless of hardness or polyether polyester. Pricing is based on Shore hardness, tensile strength, moisture grading, with one price per grade, clearly stated on the recycling form. With our own production capacity and customer backing, our prices are stable and don't fluctuate wildly with market trends.

Good materials aren't afraid of not being bought by others; what's worrisome is selling good materials as waste.

On the day of the on-site evaluation, our technician brought a rapid moisture analyzer and a Shaw A hardness tester to measure moisture and hardness on site. For polyester polyether, we first matched the model first. You were present and weighed the product, and the gross weight and net weight matched up. TPU moisture is normal; we will prompt you how long to bake before evaluating, whether to re-evaluate after drying or in the original state. You decide, we do not change the conditions.

A different approach is more cost-effective—recycle material for new material. Five steps of the process: first report the material, take a photo, report the grade, tonnage, and city; We conduct on-site graded evaluation, quote on the spot after testing; On-site weighing and receiving the goods; Payment directly deducted from your purchase of new material from Cologne; Final settlement and invoice issuance. An old customer who makes cable sheaths had about 5 tons of TPU obsolete material stored in their warehouse. By grading, they offset nearly half of the new material payment, saving about 20,000 yuan in cash flow. The new product brought back was the full range of QUANICE elastomers, which were directly added to the production line for renewal.

To put it bluntly, scrap isn't something you can't take; it depends on how you handle it.

Regarding grades, we regularly recycle BASF Elastollan 1185A, Elastollan 1190A, Elastollan S85A, Covestro Desmopan 1920, Desmopan 385S, Desmopan 9370, Lubrizol Estane, Wanhua WHT-8180, WHT-8185, WHT-1180, Huntsman IROGRAN, AVALON, and other mainstream TPU grades; Other manufacturers' grades are subject to physical evaluation. Recyclable forms include stagnant original pack material (whole pallets or loose packs), tube sprue feed, extrusion gate feed, pelletizer head feed, scrap parts, and inventory scrap material. Damp pellets should be dried and sampled separately; do not mix them with new pellets in the same bag.

To be honest, TPU's moisture absorption and hydrolysis are irreversible. If you bake it once, it works, but after two bakings, the molecular weight drops. Before the particles degrade deeply, find someone with a pipe or shoe material terminal to pick them up, grade them to offset new materials, and your capital will be more efficient than just dealing with them.

Just a few words to avoid pitfalls. Is recycling just selling cheap? The truth is selling by hardness and grade; good materials can be sold at good prices. Waiting for prices to rise? The truth is TPU only absorbs moisture and degrades when sold; the longer it sits, the less valuable it becomes. Whoever bids higher sells? The truth is that when you get it, you bargain, weigh down, and delay payments—the price is even worse than the three companies
