Old Chen opened a slurry factory in Shaoxing, supplying dispersants to textile factories and PVC film factories. Last month, downstream orders were cut in half. The batch of KURARAY POVAL PVA-117, PVA-105, and several bags of domestic Anhui materials in the warehouse sat on the pallet for almost half a year. The woven bag openings had hardened into clumps due to dampness during the plum rain, and the money still had the words "auxiliary materials" on the ledger—in other words, dead money lying on the account.

You can take orders after cuts, negotiate after customers change materials, but the PVA pile in your warehouse won't just grow and disappear on its own.

Obsolete material isn't an asset, it's a liability lying on the books.

PVA this stuff, scientifically called polyvinyl alcohol, looks like a white powder, but it's actually a "big absorber." It's just like a sponge—when humidity rises, it quietly absorbs water, and after a while, it clumps and turns deep yellow, just like sugar causing moisture. What's even more troublesome is that it comes in cold water soluble and hot water types, and alcohol lysis levels vary by degree. If you use the wrong batch, the slurry viscosity won't match. If you don't understand grading, you mix imported and domestic ingredients into one bag, and the seller will give you the standard price at a glance, selling the good material at a junk price. Over time, the label will wear down, and you won't even be able to tell the degree of alcohol lysis.

PVA sitting there won't appreciate in value; it will only gradually absorb moisture, change color, and lose value.

Let me tell you a true story: Old Chen once found a scrap dealer who drove a small truck, circled the warehouse twice, and said, "Your powder is yellow, clumped, and mixed. I'll calculate the wholesale price for you." Old Chen wanted to clear out quickly, so he agreed. But after weighing, the seller started picking bags again—one bag was dark-colored, another had a smudged label, and they cut a few hundred more per ton. Old Chen felt uneasy, but with the goods already loaded, what else could he do?

The wholesaler's calculations are even more precise than your accountant's—picking out good flour and charging it as defective, returning trendy goods by shipping fee. Honestly, what they earn isn't from scrap, it's money from your ignorance.

The vendor's quotation sheet is like a weather forecast—just glance at it before you leave, don't take it seriously.

Cologne New Materials follows a terminal digestion approach for PVA recycling, not relying on resale to make a profit. Mainstream grades like Kura-Li PVA-117, PVA-105, PVA-205, PVA-217 are used by downstream bonding, slurry, and film dispersant factories. After grading and collecting them, they are directly taken away without inventory pressure. We don't pick out batches of mixed materials, slightly damp or slightly dark-colored materials—they are processed in Cologne's own modified formula, just like with traditional Chinese medicine, one flavor has a slightly slightly soluble degree and the other ingredient is added.

Pricing isn't one-size-fits-all. Grade by degree of alcohol dissolution, solubility, appearance, and moisture status; good physical properties offer good prices; slightly degraded ones are charged as modified grades, with price differences displayed on the table. Plus, with our own production capacity and long-term customers as a backup, quotes don't fluctuate wildly with the market. When prices rise, they chase after you; when prices drop, we ignore calls. We still pay what we do.

Good materials aren't afraid of not being bought by others; what they fear is selling good materials as waste.

Five-step cooperation process: material reporting, grading evaluation, on-site receipt, deduction of payment, settlement and invoice. Old Chen's batch of materials went like this—he took a few photos and sent them with grades and about five tons. After we appraised and quoted a price, we arranged a time for on-site weighing. After the goods were brought back, the recycling payments were directly offset by his purchase of KONICE modified plastics for the following month, about half of the total. So the warehouse was cleared, the cash was back, and the new materials arrived at the factory. After the trip, he told me he should have handled it two years earlier.

The essence of recycling isn't selling scrap, but turning dead money into working money.

Recyclable PVA covers the KURARAY POVAL series like PVA-117, PVA-105, PVA-205, PVA-217, as well as major domestic manufacturers like Wanwei High-tech and Inner Mongolia Shuangxin. Other brand grades are based on physical appraisal. In terms of form, we collect all the same: stagnant original powder (whole bags of loose bags are fine), moisture-affected and lumped material, leftover residue from reproduction, workshop-ground powder, and inventory leftovers. Please separate cold water-soluble and hot water-soluble types; mixing them can also be separated, but the price is higher if separated.

Three common misconceptions, a reminder —

"Is recycling just selling cheaply?" "The truth is selling by grade and grade; good powder sells at a good price, while mixed powder gets underpriced."

"Waiting for prices to rise?" "The truth is that PVA will only absorb moisture, yellow, and drop in price, and once it clumps, it loses even value."

"Who bids higher and sells to whom?" "The truth is that when you get it, you bargain, weigh, or delay payments. Comparing prices to the three companies actually results in losses.
