Old Feng opened a PVC pipe modification factory in Qingdao, Shandong, providing lubrication and dispersion for profile factories. Last month, after a formula adjustment, the batch of imported PE wax and several bags of domestic oxide wax had been sitting in the corner of the raw material room for almost a year. The barrel opening was sealed perfectly, but the batch number on the label was already from the year before last. The warehouse manager said, "If you don't move this wax, it's about to clump together."

PE wax is used in small quantities and at a high unit price; if you're not careful, it becomes a "silent liability" in the warehouse.

Stagnant additives are not inventory, but cash stored at the bottom of the barrel.

PE wax, simply put, is polyethylene wax, a lubricant and dispersant used in PVC processing—just a little mixed, the melt flows smoothly and the surface shines. What makes it so delicate? Afraid of moisture, clumping, and high temperatures. It's the same as how butter hardens after being stored for a long time—the wax itself isn't spoiled, but if it absorbs moisture and clumps, its dispersibility drops poorly, and when mixed into PVC, it leaves uneven white spots. What's even more troublesome is that PE wax uses only a small amount—25 kg per bag—but the unit price isn't low. After a year in the barrel, the price is still low.

Small ingredients get big money—that's all about additives. What's even more troublesome is that PE wax all look pretty similar—yellow wax, white wax, oxidized wax, copolymer wax. You can't tell them apart just by looking at the bag; you have to test melting point and acid value to know what they are. Dealers don't understand this trick—just grab it and check the color, then calculate it as a standard product. Good wax is sold at a scrap price.

Let me tell you a truth: Old Feng had asked the scrap collector before. As soon as he heard it was PE wax, the other party was completely stunned—"I don't know much about this. If you send it over, I'll calculate the wholesale price by the ton." Old Feng's heart skipped a beat: he had no idea how much he had spent importing this wax back then. Selling it at the wholesale price was basically free. But he wouldn't sell it, since the barrel was still squatting in the corner. If he did, it would be painful.

The wholesaler was basically blinded by the fact that he saw the auxiliary materials—he didn't understand lubrication and dispersion and dared to tell you, "No one wants this stuff." He wasn't evaluating the material, he was assessing whether you were in a hurry. The more anxious you were, the harder he pressed.

To put it bluntly, the price he gives is calculated based on "you don't know the trade."

Kelong New Materials follows a terminal digestion route for PE wax recycling. Dispersing wax and oxidized wax for PVC lubrication are used by downstream modification factories, which are then taken away immediately after inspection. For wax used in hot melt glue and wax for masterbatch dispersion, we also accept niche grades and enter our own modified formulas for digestion, regardless of grade or batch. Wax is originally used as a blend; materials that have been stored for a bit are still sent into the formula after testing.

Pricing is graded by melting point, acid value, and dispersibility; clean materials are priced well, while slightly clumping materials are treated as modified additives. With our own production capacity and long-term customers as a backup, our quotes are stable, and we won't raise prices just because your material is niche.

Additive recycling—those who understand it look at the physical properties, not the production date on the barrel. Old Feng now says this to everyone he knows, and once he says it, he suddenly gets the hang of it. Talking about it can save a lot of unnecessary money in a year.

Five-step cooperation process: submitting materials, grading evaluation, on-site pickup, deducting payment, settling and invoicing. That's how Old Feng handled the batch of materials—he took photos and sent them, labeling about 600 kilograms of imported PE wax and 400 kilograms of domestic oxidation wax. After we evaluated and quoted the price, we scheduled a time for on-site weighing. The recycling payment was directly deducted from his purchase of KANOLE plastic additives next month, totaling over 10,000 yuan. The raw materials room cleared out a row of barrels. Old Feng said, "If I'd known this would be like this, I would've handled it a couple of years ago, no need to hold it for so long."

Additives aren't valuable because they can't be used up; if you don't use them up, you lose money. Later, when Old Feng told the workshop supervisor about this, the supervisor immediately appraised him—if the batch of wax from two years ago had been processed earlier, just the cost of funding would have been nearly 10,000. Anyone in the factory knows that cash is only money when it turns; what lies in barrels is called inventory.

Currently, the main recyclable PE waxes are dispersing waxes for PVC lubrication, oxidized polyethylene wax, masterbatch dispersing waxes, and waxes for hot melt adhesives; Imported brands and mainstream domestic grades are based on physical appraisals, not arbitrary quotes based on the label on the barrel. In terms of form, they collect: obsolete raw material (both barrel and bagged materials are fine), modified formula leftovers, test samples, and inventory surplus. Barrel and bagged are packaged separately, with better graded prices.

Three common misconceptions, here is a reminder —

"Is PE wax clumped just trash?" "The truth is, as long as you check the melting point and dispersibility, it can still be used in the formula. Just throw it away is a loss."

"Additives are niche and no one buys them?" "The truth is, if you find the right additives and digestion formulas, regular lubricating waxes will still work quickly."

"Leaving them untreated?" "The truth is that PE wax absorbs moisture and clumps up, and every extra six months it sits, its residual value drops by a bit more."
