Old Liang opened an e-cigarette shell injection molding factory in Bao'an, Shenzhen, specializing in transparent atomizer warehouses. Last month, the brand replaced the shell material from PCTG to regular PC. The two Toysman Tritan TX1001 and several bags of SK T95G in the warehouse sat on the tray for almost a year. A layer of dust had fallen on the bags, the labels were still clear, but no one came to pick them up. Every time Old Liang did the inventory, he sighed—this material was imported at a high price back then, and now it's piled up there like waste plastic.

The e-cigarette industry changes instantly; the material stored in the silo doesn't change on its own.

Obsolete material isn't goods; it's cash flow forgotten by the industry cycle.

PCTG this thing, transparent copolyester, is more chemically resistant than PETG and lighter than PC, specifically made for mother and baby water cups, e-cigarette holders, and medical devices. What makes it so delicate? It fears moisture absorption, high temperatures, and mixing with other transparent polyesters. It's the same as clear lenses that wear out after being stored for a long time—the material itself isn't bad, but if it absorbs moisture, it tends to develop silver lines and fog during injection molding. What's even more troublesome is that PCTG is expensive—if you press it down, it can cost tens of thousands, and you have to pay for a year of capital and warehouse rent.

High-end transparent polyester gets discounted once it absorbs moisture. What's even more troublesome is that when PCTG is placed together with ordinary transparent polyester, you can't tell just by looking, so you have to test chemical resistance and light transmittance. Dealers don't understand this trick, grab it, squeeze a couple of times, and directly quote it as transparent material for you.

Here's a real story: Old Liang once asked around around waste collectors. When he heard it was PCTG, someone immediately said, "This copolymer polyester is too niche, we can't do it." Someone quoted a price, and when Old Liang called them over, the other party pinched the bag twice and said, "Your material gets damp from sitting too long, so you can only buy it as regular transparent polyester," cutting the price by nearly 30%. Old Liang wanted to argue, but the seller shrugged, "If you don't sell to me, there will be a long line at the door."

The wholesaler was happier seeing niche copolymer polyester than seeing the fat meat—he knew you couldn't find a buyer, so he was pushing it hard. He's not here to collect goods, he's here to collect your anxiety.

To put it bluntly, the price he gives is always the price he would sell at once more.

Cologne New Materials follows a terminal digestion route for PCTG recycling. Eastman's Tritan TX1001, TX2001, EX401, and other commonly used brands for mother-and-baby water cups and e-cigarettes have been used by downstream packaging factories, and after grading, they are directly taken away. SK Skygreen T95G, T110 (T100HG), JN200, JN100 cosmetics and Japanese brand numbers are also accepted — we use niche materials into our own transparent modified formulas for digestion, regardless of batch or color. PCTG is originally used for transparent copolymerization, and when mixed back into transparent modified materials, its physical properties still match.

Pricing is based on light transmittance, chemical resistance, and appearance. Clean and bright materials are priced well, while slightly moisture-absorbing materials are accepted as modified transparent materials. With our own production capacity and long-term customers as a backup, our quotes are stable—no price hikes just because your material is niche.

Copolyester isn't unwanted by anyone; it's just that you haven't found the right people who truly use it.

The five-step cooperation process: material reporting, grading evaluation, on-site pickup, deduction of payment, settlement and invoicing. That's exactly how Lao Liang handled the material—he took photos and sent them, bidding about three tons of TX1001 and two tons of T95G. After we appraised and quoted the price, we arranged a time for on-site weighing. The recycling payment was directly deducted from his purchase of KONICE modified plastic next month, totaling about twenty thousand. After clearing half the warehouse, Lao Liang said it felt as satisfying as clearing old debts.

Recycling isn't about selling copolyester cheaply, but about revitalizing the dead money tied to the warehouse.

Currently, the PCTG grades available for recycling include Eastman Tritan TX1001, TX2001, EX401, SK Skygreen T95G, T110 (T100HG), JN200, JN100, etc.; Domestic PCTG modification companies and other grades are subject to physical appraisal. In terms of form, we collect: obsolete original packaging, mother-and-baby water cup edges, e-cigarette shell gates, medical transparent parts scrap, and inventory scrap. Don't mix transparent materials with colored materials; packing them separately for graded prices is better.

Three common misconceptions, here is a reminder —

"Is copolyester considered trash if it absorbs moisture?" "The truth is, even mild moisture-wicking can still be used in modified transparent formulas; just throw it away and you'll lose money."

"Niche transparent materials no one buys them?" "The truth is, if you find the right terminal, a commonly used material like TX1001 for mothers and babies will still sell quickly."

"Should we just leave it for now?" "The truth is, PCTG absorbs moisture and fogs up for too long, and the more you store it, the less valuable it gets
