PBT/PET
PBT/PET为什么难处理?
Old Wu makes car door locks in Cixi. A batch of PBT/PET blend, because the new formula adjusted the PET ratio, left over six tons of original raw material with the old mix in the warehouse. The label on the bag was still printed two years ago. He was stunned by the single formula—old mix material is useless for the new machine, but throwing it away makes it painful, since it was bought with real money. The warehouse manager asked if he wanted to dispose of it, but Old Wu waved his hand: "Process?" Do you know how this material is collected outside? "
PBT/PET blends are so dull that even people can't tell them apart.
changed the material ratio, and the old material became the awkward situation of "knowing what it is but not using it." Why is
PBT/PET hard to handle? It combines the molding speed of PBT with PET's oil resistance, specifically for places like door locks and electronic parts that need both speed and oil resistance. But PBT and PET are "close relatives"—they look similar, have the same density, and taste similar when burned. Ordinary recyclers can't even tell if your bag is pure PBT, pure PET, or blended. It's like two cups of tea that look similar—one green tea and one oolong—outsiders can't tell the difference in one sip. Once mixed together, the value is cut in half. Plus, the unit price isn't low, and the quantity isn't as high as pure PBT, so few people in the second-hand market can handle it. Just the capital tied up in the warehouse is enough to take the risk.
The real fear isn't about storing it, but being sold cheaply as another material.
Let's calculate the timeline: If this blend is stored for a long time, the PET part hydrolyzes easily, molecular weight drops, and the material becomes brittle. You can test the mold on the machine and you'll see that the parts that come out break easily. Then sell again, and they test the physical properties and lower the price to make you lose your temper.
Now let's talk about the waste collectors. You make a round call, and when the other party hears PBT/PET, they pretend they understand, "We buy this often," but after quoting the price, you know they didn't even know the difference. You can memorize the wholesaler's tricks with your eyes closed: first, they fool you, "This material has been stored for so long, the PET has degraded," then buy at the wholesale price and sell it to modification factories for double price. Some are even more sneaky: when you come to inspect goods, they secretly take samples for testing, then come back and bargain your price: "Your PET ratio is wrong, so you can only buy it as regular PBT." "To put it bluntly, they're not here to buy goods, they're here to practice with your material, and after you practice, you have to pay."
If you negotiate tea prices with people who can't tell tea from coffee, you're destined to lose money.
Kelong New Materials does end-use digestion recycling; we can handle PBT/PET blends. We have customers who have long made door locks, electronics, and hydrolysis-resistant structural parts using these materials. Popular batches can be bought the same day without inventory pressure. If we encounter off-mix ratios, mixed batches, or long-term storage, we bring them back to the factory for physical property testing and grading, then convert them into our own modified formulas according to proportion, without picking on grade or batch. Pricing is based on actual measured hydrolysis resistance, oil resistance, and appearance grading, with clear pricing—not a one-off price cut. With our own production capacity and fixed customers as a backup, our quotes are stable and don't fluctuate wildly with market trends.
The price of mixed materials must be measured honestly, not estimated by words.
Five-step cooperation process: material reporting, grading and evaluation, on-site pickup, deducting payment, settlement and invoice issuance. You place a bid for the material bag printing, quantity, appearance, and purpose, then we grade and quote based on the actual item. Once we reach an agreement, we come to the door to deliver the goods. The recovered payment can be directly used to offset your subsequent purchase of new materials—for engineering plastics, we have our own KONICE modified plastics series. Cixi Lao Wu's more than six tons of old-mix material were appraised and discounted to a real price, directly offsetting about half of his second half of the payment for KONICE's modified material in the second half of the year. The few bags with yellowed labels weren't given any special attention.
Turning unused mix ratios into usable new material quotas.
We have received quite a few recyclable PBT/PET grades. The PBT/PET blends in BASF's Ultradur series, SABIC Valox, ENH8530 mainstream hydrolysis and oil-resistant grades are our regular buyers; Other brands and other PBT/PET formulations are also welcome to submit materials, subject to physical appraisal. Recyclable forms include obsolete original packaging (whole pallets and bulk packages are fine), sprue and gate materials, door lock scraps and machine head scraps, electronic scrap and defective products, and inventory scraps at the end of projects. All are negotiable with clear labels and single compositions.
Three pitfalls to avoid. "PBT and PET look the same, why not mix them and sell them together?" The truth is, once mixed together, they get mistreated as regular goods and undervalued. "Leave them and use them slowly?" The truth is moisture absorption and degradation are irreversible, and the more you store them, the softer they get. "Who sells at the highest price?" The truth is, dealers who don't understand proportions will cut them off once they get them.
Compliance: Proper recycling and disposal, complete weighing and recycling forms, traceable flow, can cooperate with environmental audits and ISO audits, and absolutely won't end up in illegal small workshops.
