Lao Lin opened a film blowing factory in Weifang, and last year followed the agricultural film substitution policy and launched a biodegradable mulch film line. But just as the new material formula was finalized, the agricultural tech team changed the degradation cycle requirements. The batch of Showa Electric Bionolle 3001 and Bionolle 3000, along with several bags of Mitsubishi GS Pla PBSA grade, sat on the pallet for nearly half a year. Because of the wheat harvest season, the grains stuck together, and the ledger still labeled "biodegradable film material"—in other words, dead money lying on the account.
The policy requires a new year, the production line is cut along, and trial production materials are pushed into the warehouse.
Stagnant material isn't an asset, it's a liability lying on the books.
PBSA this is a "flexible upgraded version" of PBS. Succinic acid and adipic acid are copolymerized, making it softer and tougher than PBS, making plastic film and garbage bags especially handy. But softness comes with a price — it is naturally degradable, has a low melting point and absorbs moisture. When warehouse humidity increases, the material surface hydrolyzes and self-adheres, just like ripe soft persimmons—it "collapses" on its own and shows you first. What's even more troublesome is that Bionolle 3001 and 3000 differ in fluidity and thickness; mixing them produces uneven film thickness. If you don't understand grading, mix trial production edges with original material in one bag, and the seller will give you the standard price at a glance, selling good material at a junk price. Over time, the label wears off, and even the production date becomes unreadable.
Degradable material isn't waiting for prices to rise; it's waiting for it to quietly loosen on its own.
Let me tell you a truth: Lao Lin once found a scrap goods dealer who drove a small truck over, circled the warehouse twice, and immediately said, "Your material is sticky and clumped, I'm afraid it's about to degrade. I'll calculate the bulk price for you." Lao Lin wanted to quickly clear some space, so he agreed. But after weighing, the other party started picking bags again—this bag was dirty, that had smudged labels, and they would cut a few hundred more per ton. Lao Lin felt frustrated, but the goods were already loaded, what else could he do?
The wholesaler's calculations were even more precise than your accountant's—picking up good materials and charging them as defective products, returning trendy goods by shipping fees. Honestly, they're not making money from scrap, but money from people who don't understand the trade.
The vendor's quotation sheet is like a weather forecast—just glance at it before you leave, don't take it seriously.
Cologne New Materials follows a terminal digestion approach for PBSA recycling, not relying on resale to make a price difference. Mainstream PBSA grades like Bionolle 3001, Bionolle 3000, and GS Pla are still used by downstream plastic film, garbage bags, and film bag factories. After grading and grading, they are directly taken away without inventory pressure. We don't pick out trial production leftovers, batch mixed, or slightly self-adhesive materials—they go into Cologne's own modified formula and digest it, just like mixing Chinese medicine. If the flow of this flavor is a bit off, just add another flavor to make up for it.
Pricing isn't one-size-fits-all. Grades by grade, melting fingers, appearance, moisture absorption and degradability—original new materials get a good price, slightly hydrolyzed materials are charged as modified grades, and the price difference is displayed on the table. Plus, with our own production capacity and long-term customers as a backup, our quotes don't fluctuate wildly. When prices go up, they chase after you; when prices drop, you ignore their calls. We still get what we get for it.
Good materials aren't afraid of no buyers; what's scary is selling good materials as waste.
Five-step cooperation process: material reporting, grading and evaluation, door-to-door pickup, deduction of payment, settlement and invoice. That's how Old Lin's batch of materials went—he took a few photos and sent them with the grade and about six tons. After we appraised and quoted a price, we scheduled a time for on-site weighing. After the goods were brought back, the recycling fee was directly offset by the next month's purchase of KONICE modified plastics, about half. So the warehouse was cleared, the cash was back, and the new material arrived at the factory. After the trip, he told me I should have handled it two years earlier. The essence of
recycling isn't selling scrap, but turning dead money into working money.
Recyclable PBSA covers mainstream grades such as Showa Electric Bionolle 3001, Bionolle 3000, Mitsubishi GS Pla's PBSA grade, and other brands like Kingfa Technology, Korea's IRE Enpol, and Mitsubishi Gas Chemical. Formally, they collect: stagnant original packaging (whole bags or loose bags are fine), trial production leftovers, film blowing edges, bag sprue nozzles, self-adhesive lump materials, and inventory scraps. Degradable materials have short shelf lives, and the longer they delay, the less valuable they become. If you notice backlog, report early.
Three common misconceptions, here is a reminder—
"Is recycling just selling cheaply?" "The truth is, sell by grade and grade; good materials can sell at good prices, but mixed materials get underpriced.
"Is biodegradable material safe to use?" "The truth is, it's naturally degradable; after absorbing moisture and sticking itself, its strength drops faster."
"Who bids the highest price and sells to whom?" "The truth is, you bargain, weigh down, and delay payments right away. Comparing prices to the three companies actually results in losses."
