EBA的痛点在于:它和EVA长得像,增韧溢价高,一混就掉价。
呆滞料不是资产,是趴在账上的负债。
EBA说白了就是改性聚乙烯,里面加了丙烯酸丁酯,专做耐寒增韧、电缆屏蔽料、拉伸套膜的。正因为是低温增韧料,单价不低,一压库占的钱就多。
EBA放久了韧性下降,跟橡皮筋放久了发脆一样——看着还是那根筋,拉两下就断。原包料开袋吸潮氧化,回炉做增韧层,冲击强度不够,客户直接退。
车间里更现实的是混料。EBA和EVA水口料长得像,工人图省事往一个袋里倒。一混,EBA的低温增韧溢价就打了水漂,只能按普通EVA卖。
更现实的是它小众。EBA不是大路货,下游做耐寒改性和电缆料的厂子要得精、要得稳,你仓库里堆着它,普通贩子不认,转手找不到下家。车间里每天切的水口料、电缆料边角料堆着堆着就成了气候,仓管催你清,你又不知道往哪儿清。
增韧料放着不用,每一天都在折损它的耐寒身价。
增韧料的贵,贵在"耐寒"这两个字上,混掉了就一文不值。
老罗找过收料的。贩子抓起料粒一看,说"这不就是EVA嘛,按EVA价"。老罗当场摇头——他这是EBA,做耐寒增韧的,跟EVA差着价呢。可贩子不听,他不认EBA。
说白了,统货商对这种"长得像EVA"的料,本能就是往EVA上靠。他不是不知道有EBA,是认EBA没好处——认了就得给你好价,不认就能压你。
有些贩子的认知,停留在"塑料就分透明和不透明"这一层,你跟他谈耐寒,他跟你谈统货。

Old Luo works in Yuyao, Ningbo, making cold-resistant toughening and cable materials. The workshop has extruders coming and going in and out of EBA year-round. Last month, a cable material formula was changed, and two trays of original EBA in the warehouse suddenly became unusable.
EBA this material is a butyl ethylene acrylate copolymer, used for PP cold toughening, cable material, and stretch film coating, with good low-temperature toughness. But its processing temperature is not high, and the leftover material absorbs moisture and oxidizes over time, losing its toughening effect.
Old Luo's warehouse manager moved those two supports inward, with the ledger marked "Pending Processing." At the end of the workshop, the daily cut EBA sprue material and cable material scraps were piled in the corners, mixed with EVA. The pain point of
EBA is: it looks like EVA, toughening costs a lot, and if mixed in, its value drops.
Obsolete material isn't an asset, it's a liability lying on the books.
EBA plainly, it's modified polyethylene with added butyl acrylate, specifically for cold-resistant toughening, cable shielding, and stretch films. Because it's low-temperature toughening material, the unit price isn't low, and once you press the rack, it takes up a lot of money.
EBA keeps it for a long time, its toughness drops, just like rubber bands that become brittle after a while—it still looks like the same tendon, but breaks after a couple of pulls. Raw packaging absorbs moisture and oxidizes when opened, then returns to the furnace for toughening layers. If the impact strength isn't enough, the customer immediately returns it.
The more practical thing in the workshop is mixing materials. EBA and EVA sprue material look similar, so workers just pour it into one bag for convenience. Once mixed, the premium for EBA's low-temperature toughening is wasted, and it can only be sold as regular EVA.
More realistically, it's niche. EBA isn't a mainstream commodity; downstream factories specializing in cold-resistant modification and cable materials need to be refined and stable. If you have it piled up in your warehouse, ordinary dealers won't accept it, and you won't find a buyer when you resell it. The sprue material and cable scraps cut daily in the workshop pile up and become a hot spot. The warehouse staff urges you to clear it, but you don't know where to do it.
Toughening material is left unused, and its cold resistance value is lost every day.
The toughening material is expensive because of the word "cold resistance"; if you mix it out, it's worthless.
Old Luo has contacted the material buyer. The dealer picked up the material and said, "Isn't this just EVA? At the EVA price." Old Luo shook his head on the spot—he was using EBA, making cold-resistant toughening material, but the price was lower than EVA. But the seller wouldn't listen; he refused to recognize EBA.
To put it bluntly, wholesalers instinctively lean toward EVA for materials that "look like EVA." It's not that he doesn't know about EBA, but he admits EBA has no benefits—if he accepts it, he has to offer you a good price; if not, he can beat you.
Some vendors think "plastic is divided into transparent and opaque" layers; you talk to them about cold resistance, they talk about bulk goods.

Tell a true story. Last year, a factory in Ningbo specializing in cold-resistant modification had about 4 tons of raw EBA mixed with a bunch of EVA sprue material, but after the formula was changed, it was no longer needed. On this trip, they first picked out EBA mixed in EVA and graded it; those with toughness were modified by toughness, and the recovered amount was directly deducted from the next batch of KONICE shipments, about half of the cost. The row of mixing bags in the workshop was cleaned out, and the storage space was returned.
Good material isn't afraid of not being picked up; the worry is selling good material as scrap.
EBA we collect year-round, accepting mainstream grades like cold-resistant toughening grade, cable grade, and stretch film grade. The exact grade is subject to physical appraisal; we don't casually state numbers.
Recyclable forms: stagnant raw material, sprue gate material, cable scrap, defective scrap parts, inventory scrap. Special reminder—EBA sprue material must be bagged separately from EVA; mixing it with toughening premiums will disappear.
