国际大厂MVLDPE副牌,为什么高速线都偷偷在切?

There's an unspoken hierarchy of disdain in the film industry: those doing ordinary LLDPE look down on those making mLLDPE, and those doing mLLDPE look down on those doing MVLDPE—thinking it's "spending more money to get a foreign name."

But interestingly, factories that actually run high-speed lines and make high-difficulty heat seals are secretly switching to MVLDPE. Contempt aside, production volume can't be deceived. What exactly makes this thing special? Let's break it down today.

The "precise version" of metallocene is low-density PE

MVLDPE, metallocene extremely low-density polyethylene. Both it and ULDPE belong to the low-density category, but the difference is the catalyst—it uses a single active metallocene center, with very uniform molecular chains and a narrow molecular weight distribution.

The benefits of neatness are: at the same density, it has higher toughness, lower heat sealing temperatures, more stable sealing, and a wider processing window for higher line speeds. Simply put, ordinary materials rely on stacking thickness to achieve performance, while they rely on molecular precision to make films thin, fast, and stable. High-performance stretch films, composite film heat seals, and extrusion coatings are all its main fields.

The world's top three major foreign companies, two founding metals

Global MVLDPE material is almost half dominated by the two metallocomotive technology originators. By product line and shipment size, ExxonMobil's Exceed mVLDPE and Dow's ELITE AT are the two main players; Nordic Chemical and Leondelbasel also have complete grades in the second tier.

Here, we need to clarify the standard: MVLDPE and mLLDPE come from the same metallocene production line, but their density tiers differ. Data sources often rank them together, so by hierarchy—the first two are the two giants, followed by several major European manufacturers.

Sub-brand is not downgraded material; it's a borderline skirmish on the same precise line .

What is a sub-brand? In the same manufacturer and grade, the part of the factory inspection that doesn't fully meet the genuine brand standards. If the same batch of metallocene polymer products all meets the standard and is labeled as genuine, and a few indicators slightly float are considered sub-brands. The molecular structure is consistent with the genuine brand, but melting finger, density, and haze are just marginal during testing.

The four main sources remain the same: starting and parking stock scraps, grade switching transition materials, batches with process fluctuations causing some indicators to exceed standards, and secondary line tailings.

Boundary Clearing: Secondary brands are neither recycled nor recycled materials. Recycled materials are re-pelletizing edges and corners, having been heated once and used for a while; Recycled materials are recycled materials, and performance depends on luck. Secondary brands are precision polymers from the same batch from the original factory; the only difference is the qualification stamp. Anyone who makes adhesive composite films understands that if the material is not pure, the peel strength drops instantly.

ExxonMobil: Exceed mVLDPE, the fast-paced fast for high-speed films .

ExxonMobil is a veteran leader in metallocene polyethylene, with a dedicated mVLDPE grade in the Exceed series, typically the 0.912 density range. Their material features fast packaging speed, crisp heat sealing, smooth dry mixing and co-extrusion, and heavy load packaging and shrink film use a lot.

Their sub-brand often has fluctuating points such as melt fingers or density edges, and particles may have some color differences. Used for industrial composite films, adhesive film substrates, and extrusion coating underrolling, offering sufficient performance redundancy; For food-grade high-demand heat seal layers, genuine brands with certification are still recommended.

Dow: ELITE AT, precision production of INSITE technology

Dow started with INSITE metallocene technology, and ELITE AT's reinforced polyethylene is a representative product in this line. Its features are a good balance of toughness and processability; cast film, machine-use stretch film, and diaper backing film are all commonly used; even if the film is thin, the strength does not collapse.

Dow secondary brands usually have slightly deviated melt fingers or slightly offset hue, with the molecular framework not replaced. Suitable for general packaging films, adhesive composite film inner layers, and non-food-grade coatings, offering better cost performance than genuine brands; For hygiene-grade and food-contact products, follow the proper rules for genuine products.

Nordic Chemicals: A stable European brand beyond Bornewables

Nordic Chemicals has deep technical expertise in metallocenes and bimodal polyolefins, and MVLDPE/mLLDPE grades are well established in the European packaging and agricultural film markets. Its material batch consistency and reputation for weather resistance are good.

Their sub-brand has long delivery times in Europe, so they must check batch numbers and COA before purchasing. Suitable for non-food-grade adhesive films, buffer composite films, and general coatings, with good price elasticity.

Pick up MVLDPE sub-brands, save on these four steps

First point: density and melting index must match the intended use. MVLDPE density is often between 0.912-0.925; be cautious of anything beyond this range, not this category.

Second, peel strength and heat sealing should be tested first. The most common secondary labels are heat sealing and peeling; after small samples, we can discuss batch sizes.

Third, use grading. Food-grade and medical-grade adhesive films should avoid secondary brands; Industrial composite films, coatings, and buffer layers are more cost-effective for secondary brands.

Fourth, trace the original batch number. Both large and small packages are fine; they must have the original factory label and COA. Low-priced goods without batch numbers should be considered recycled and suspected.

Main recommended brands: ExxonMobil, Dow, Nordic Chemicals.

Main grades: Exceed mVLDPE (density 0.912 level), ELITE AT, Nordic Chemical mLLDPE grades.

Packaging specifications: Small sub-label and boxed sub-brand use small packaging; large package/ton packaging is sold in ton bags, with packaging and stock according to workshop usage.

Warehouse Stock: MVLDPE warehouse stock is usually 3000-6000 tons, with small sub-brand stocks at 500-800 tons, sub-label containerized at 200-400 tons, and large packages/ton at 2500-4800 tons.

Supply Guarantee: Direct procurement from the original factory, batch numbers follow the goods.

Selection tips + A record of a sticky film in Zhenjiang

Five selection tips:

1. Determine the film structure first, then select materials; food-grade and medical-grade materials are not wasted;

2. Density melting index matches; don't use mLLDPE as MVLDPE;

3. Heat seal peeling and on-machine testing, don't just look at lab reports;

4. Secondary brand must follow original factory batch numbers; COA marking is indispensable;

5. Test small batches first, then lay lines; picking machine materials cannot be saved.

Zhenjiang has a client specializing in adhesive composite films. Previously, to cut costs, they mixed in a batch of unknown "metallocene PE," which caused the peel strength of the composite film to drop from 3.5 N to 1.2 Ox, causing a whole batch of tape layer separation and losing a batch of orders from downstream composite factories. Later, they switched to imported major manufacturers' sub-brand MVLDPE, testing heat sealing and peeling batch by batch by batch number. The peel strength stabilized above 3.2 Nm, and the cost per ton dropped by nearly 700 yuan.

This is the account of adhesive films—the peel power of the composite layer is just a notch off and the company falls apart. Ningbo Kelong New Materials Co., Ltd. has been doing imported polyolefin sub-brands for many years, handling many cases for adhesive film and coating materials every year. Basically, they help you test the peel step before you get on the machine
