Old Xu opened a film factory in Suzhou, specializing in medical packaging films and soft composite films. Last month, a medical client switched film materials from ULDPE to regular LLDPE, and the batch of Dow Attane 4202, Attane 4404G, and Attane 4601 in the warehouse slept on the pallet for over three months. The bag mouth was a bit damp from the workshop cold, the particles felt sticky when pinched, and the money on the ledger still had the words "high-end film material"—in other words, dead money lying on the account.

You can negotiate after the customer replaces materials, and you can take orders after cuts, but the stack of ULDPE in your warehouse won't just grow and disappear on its own.

Obsolete material isn't an asset, it's a liability lying on the books.

ULDPE this stuff, scientifically called ultra-low-density polyethylene, has a density lower than ordinary PE and is as soft as a block of modeling clay. It's used for medical packaging, high-end composite films, toughening and modification, all thanks to it. But its softness also comes with its problems—the particles become sticky between the pellets, and when the warehouse temperature rises, they stick together, similar to how nougat is warmed up. Once it clumps, the material is hard to dispel. What's even more troublesome is that 4202, 4404G, and 4601 have different densities and uses. If medical-grade and ordinary toughening grades are mixed, the film's hygiene standards won't match. If you don't know how to classify it, mixing medical film and regular material in one bag, the seller will just look at it and give you the standard price, selling the good material at a junk price.

ULDPE sitting there won't appreciate in value; it will only gradually clump and stick, losing value.

Let me tell you a true story: Old Xu once found a scrap goods dealer who drove a small truck, circled the warehouse twice, and immediately said, "Your material is sticky, clumped, and mixed. I'll pay you the wholesale price." Old Xu thought he'd quickly make room and agreed. But after weighing, the vendor started picking bags again—this bag was dirty, that had smudged labels, and he cut another 300 per ton. Old Xu was frustrated, but the goods were loaded, what else could he do?

The wholesaler's calculations were even more precise than your accountant's—picking out good materials and charging them as inferior products, returning lumps as shipping fees. Think about it, what they earn isn't from scrap, it's money from your lack of expertise.

The vendor's quotation sheet is like a weather forecast—just glance at it before you leave, don't take it seriously.

Cologne New Materials follows the terminal digestion route for ULDPE recycling, not reselling to make a profit. Mainstream grades like Attane 4202, 4404G, and 4601 are still used by downstream film, laminate, and toughening modification plants. After grading, they are directly removed without inventory pressure. We don't pick on mixed batches, slightly sticky, or slightly dark-colored materials—they go into Cologne's own modified formula and digest them, just like mixing Chinese medicine: one flavor is softer, another flavor is added to compensate.

Pricing isn't one-size-fits-all. Grades are made by density, melting index, appearance, and whether they are lumped. Medical grade offers good prices, ordinary toughening grade is charged by tier, and the price difference between each tier is displayed on the table. Plus, with our own production capacity and long-term customers as a backup, our quotes don't fluctuate wildly with the market. When others go up, they chase after you; when prices drop, they ignore our calls. We still get what we deserve.

Good materials aren't afraid of not having buyers; what's scary is selling good materials as scrap.

The five-step cooperation process: material reporting, grading and evaluation, on-site pickup, deducting payment, settlement and invoicing. Old Xu's batch of materials went just like this—he took a few photos and sent them with grades and roughly six tons. After we appraised and quoted a price, we agreed on a time for on-site weighing. After the goods were brought back, the recycling payment was directly offset by his purchase of KONICE modified plastics the next month, about half of the cost. So the warehouse was cleared, the cash was back, and the new material arrived at the factory. After the trip, he told me he should have handled it two years earlier.

The essence of recycling isn't selling scrap, but turning dead money into living money.

Recyclable ULDPE covers mainstream ultra-low density grades like Dow Attane 4202, 4404G, 4601, while other brands like ExxonMobil Execute series and Yanshan Petrochemical domestic ULDPE are evaluated based on physical appraisal. In terms of form, we collect: stagnant raw material (whole bags or loose bags are fine), membrane edge scraps, film blow-out spouts, machine head top, composite film residue, and inventory scrap. Separate medical grade and regular grade quotes; don't force a twist on lumped materials; grading is more accurate.

Three common misconceptions, a reminder for you—

"Is recycling just selling cheap?" "The truth is selling by grade and grade; good materials sell at good prices, mixed materials get underpriced."

"Waiting for prices to rise?" "The truth is ULDPE will only clump and stick to the price, and the higher the temperature, the worse it gets."

"Who bids higher and sells to whom?" "The truth is, when you get the price, you bargain, weigh, or delay payments. Comparing prices to the three companies actually causes losses."
