Old Hu is making tire tread rubber in Qingdao. The two VSL 4526-2 SSBR pallets in the warehouse have been sitting on pallets for almost a year. A matching tire factory changed the formula, and over 2,000 kilograms of melt rubber blocks instantly became unacceptable material. The surface of the rubber blocks was already a bit sticky, deformed when pressed by a forklift. The warehouse manager checked the ledger and found the unit price wasn't cheap—just the space and interest cost nearly 6,000 yuan a month. Old Hu squatted at the workshop door smoking: New energy tires require low rolling resistance, but SSBR has dropped molecular weight for too long and its grip is already unqualified.

Stagnant material isn't an asset, it's a liability lying on the books.

SSBR this stuff, only bosses who make high-performance tire treads know it well. It's styrene-butadiene rubber made by fusion method, with a narrow molecular weight distribution and uniform performance, specially used for low-rolling resistance passenger tires. The problem is its high unit price, the rubber blocks are sensitive to pressure and heat, and when warehouse temperatures rise, the surface of the block material slowly sticks; Over a long storage period, Mooney viscosity drifts, and the compound compounded material burns incorrectly. SSBR is like rice cakes—after sitting for a while, the surface crusting and the toughness you can't resolve. What's even more troublesome is the huge price difference between different styrene and vinyl contents, so dealers don't even distinguish when buying—they treat each piece as one piece.

The essence of recycling isn't selling scrap, but turning dead money into working money.

Let me tell a true story. A boss called in a wholesaler, who picked up a piece of SSBR and broke it off, saying the glue was sticky and the molecular weight had fallen off, so he charged at floor price. The wholesaler's calculations were even more cunning than your accountant's—he took it back and mixed it into regular tread rubber to make up the numbers, added some oil for performance shortages, and used the tires for construction sites, pocketing all the difference. Honestly, what he said about not selling isn't because he has no customers, but because he doesn't have high-end tread rubber himself. Some dealers are even worse, not even testing styrene content, mixing VSL 4526 with generic SSBR into a whole truck.

Wholesalers aren't helping you deal with scrap, they're using your good materials to supplement their poor materials.

Kelon New Materials is taking the path of terminal digestion. We have long-term downstream customers specializing in high-performance tread, seals, and adhesives. For high-circulation grades like VSL 4526-2 and YH-2601, we buy them that match the customer's formula and sell directly without inventory pressure. If the batch is slightly off, we can digest it into our own modified formula system, regardless of grade or batch. Pricing is based on styrene content, vinyl content, Mooney viscosity, and whether there is adhesion, graded by grade, clearly stated on the recycling form. With our own production capacity and customer backing, our prices are stable and don't fluctuate wildly with market trends.

Good materials don't have to worry about not being picked up; the real worry is selling good materials as waste.

On the day of the on-site evaluation, our technician brought a portable Mooney instrument to measure the Mooney on site to check if the rubber blocks were adhesive. The styrene content was matched by model and infrared rapid test. You were present and weighed the material; the gross weight and net weight matched perfectly. For the adhesion blocks, we would advise if they could be loosened; if loose, they would be charged as whole pieces, and if not, negotiated separately.

A different approach is more cost-effective—recycle materials for new materials. Five-step process: first submit materials, take photos, report the grade, tonnage, and city; We conduct on-site graded evaluations and quote on the spot after testing; On-site weighing and receiving the goods; The recovery payment is directly deducted from your purchase of new material from Cologne; Final settlement and invoice issuance. An old customer who makes sealing strips had about 6 tons of SSBR stale material stored in the warehouse. By grading, nearly half of the new material payment was offset, saving about 30,000 yuan in cash flow. The newly brought back was the full range of QUANICE elastomers, which were directly added to the production line for renewal.

To put it bluntly, scrap isn't something you can't accept; it depends on how you handle it.

Specifically, we regularly recycle mainstream SSBR grades such as Alang New Ke Buna VSL 4526-2, Buna VSL 5025-0, Baling Petrochemical YH-2601, YH-2608, YH-2605, Yanshan Petrochemical SBR2304, SBR2504, YL950, Dushanzi Petrochemical 2564S, 2557S; For JSR and other manufacturers, grades are based on actual product appraisal. Recyclable forms include stagnant raw rubber blocks (whole trays or loose blocks), leftover materials from before and after mixing, extruded gate feed, test machine feed, and inventory scraps. Sticky block material should be sampled separately and not piled up with new rubber blocks.

To be honest, SSBR unit prices are not low; storing rubber blocks in the warehouse is no different from holding cash inside. Some owners think they can still use it during smelting, but when the tires drift, the tread rubber's grip and rolling resistance get messed up, and the tires they produce fail the manufacturer's inspection—losing the bigger picture for a small gain.

Just a quick chat to avoid pitfalls. Is recycling just selling cheap? The truth is selling by grade and grade; good materials can be sold at good prices. Waiting for prices to go up? The truth is, SSBR will only stick and age when left unused, and the longer you keep it, the less valuable it becomes. Who bids the higher and sells whom? The truth is, when you get the price, you have to bargain, weigh it down, and delay payment—the price is even worse than the other three
