更扎心的是,SPS车间每天切下来的水口料、浇口料,混着玻纤粉末,扫都不好扫。你不处理,它就在车间角落堆成小山,叉车过道越挤越窄。
放着等涨价,是一场错觉。
老周找过两个上门收废料的。头一个来了,绕着仓库转一圈,说"你这料太小众,我统货拿",给了个地板价。老周嫌低,没卖。第二个更绝,报价听着还行,拉到磅房一过秤,随手从托盘底下抽走半袋说"这袋受潮霉变,不能算",到手价又砍一截。

The workshop is small, and he supplies connectors and coil frames exclusively to OEMs. Last month, a new energy vehicle had a last-minute formula changed, swapping SPS high-temperature material for another company's system. The warehouse instantly turned the original XAREC material into an unclaimed "orphan ."
Forklift driver asked Old Zhou where to move the batch of materials, and Old Zhou waved his hand and said to keep it against the wall for now. The bag on the tray had gathered dust, but the corner bag was still open, absorbing moisture for half a month. The ledger marked it "pending processing," and it stayed for nearly half a year.
Old Zhou wasn't unaware of the money being taken up by this batch of materials; he just didn't know who to turn to. SPS isn't the mainstream stuff like PC or ABS. When vendors hear 'polystyrene high-temperature material,' their quote can scare people off guard.

Old Zhou's batch of SPS uses 30% glass fiber reinforced grade, specializing in connectors and millimeter-wave radar covers, and the unit price is already high. The problem is, once these materials are opened and absorb moisture, they must be strictly pre-dried after being re-ovend. If the physical properties lose a bit, downstream customers reject them.
SPS this stuff, moisture absorption is like cookies left unpacked for too long—they still look like cookies, but when bitten into, they're no longer crisp. If left untouched, they won't appreciate in value; they'll slowly slide from 'original packaging' to 'processed materials.'
What's even more frustrating is that the sprue and gate material cut daily in the SPS workshop is mixed with fiberglass powder, making it hard to sweep. If you don't deal with it, it piles up like a small mountain in the workshop corner, and the forklift aisle gets narrower and narrower.
Waiting for prices to go up is just an illusion.
Old Zhou once found two people who came to collect scrap. The first one came, circled the warehouse once, and said, "Your material is too niche, I'll buy it in bulk," offering a floor price. Old Zhou thought it was too low and didn't sell. The second one was even worse: the quote sounded decent, but after weighing it at the weighroom, he casually pulled half a bag from under the pallet and said, "This bag is damp and moldy, can't be counted," and the final price was cut even further.
To put it bluntly, the wholesaler's calculations are even more precise than your accountant's—picking out good materials and counting them as defective products, returning inferior materials as shipping fees. For niche materials like SPS, they don't need to understand material properties; they just pay you because they know you're eager to make space.
Some factories treat obsolete materials like a scumbag to their predecessors—leaving them alone and only asking if they can still be used.

The cooperation follows a five-step "exchange for new material" approach: material reporting→ graded evaluation→ on-site pickup→ deducting payment→ settlement and invoicing. Let me tell a true story. Last year, a factory producing connector suppliers had about 6 tons of raw SPS material plus a batch of sprue material stored in the warehouse. When the order was canceled, they hurried to make room. They came to us this time, and after grading evaluation, they offered a mid-to-high price. The recycling payment was directly offset by the next batch of KONICE modified plastic purchases, which was about half of the new material payment. The warehouse was empty, new materials had entered the workshop, and bosses like Lao Zhou immediately understood—this wasn't selling scrap, it was about loosening cash flow constraints.
Good materials aren't afraid of not having buyers; what's scary is selling good materials as scrap.
