Old Han opened a biodegradable products factory in Wuhan, and last year followed policy to launch a starch-based blown film injection molding line. As soon as the new material started to run smoothly, the customer changed the weight of the shopping bags. The batch of Italian Novamont Mater-Bi, Wuhan Huali PSM HL-302, PSM HL-303 in the warehouse slept on the pallet for almost half a year. Due to the warehouse tide, the corners of the bags already had some moldy marks, and the ledger still listed "starch base material"—in other words, dead money lying on the account.

Policies push production line switches, trial production materials are in the hands of bosses, especially headaches for starch base bosses.

Obsolete materials are not assets, but liabilities lying on the books.

PSM this thing, scientifically called starch-based plastic, contains a lot of starch, and is essentially a "grain-based material." But grain-based material is delicate—much more absorbent than ordinary plastic. When warehouse humidity rises, it first absorbs water and then clumps, and over time it can develop enzymes and attract insects. It's similar to rice moisture release: it looks unspoiled but is quietly spoiling. What's even more troublesome is that Mater-Bi, HL-302, and HL-303 have different starch content and uses. Mixing film-blown and injection-molded grades results in bags of uneven thickness and soft lunch boxes. If you don't understand grading, mixing trial production edges with original packaging material in one bag will cause the vendor to pay you at a single wholesale price, selling the good ingredients at a junk price. Over time, the labels wear down, and you can't even see the production date.

Starch base material isn't waiting for prices to rise, it's waiting for enzymes to clump in the warehouse itself.

Let me tell a true story: Old Han once found a scrap material dealer who drove a small truck over, circled the warehouse twice, and immediately said, "Your material has clumped, I'm afraid you've developed enzymes, and it's mixed. I'll pay you the standard price." Old Han thought he could quickly clear some space, so he agreed. But after weighing, the other party started picking bags again—this bag was dirty, that had a smudged label, and the price was cut off by a few hundred per ton. Old Han felt frustrated, but the goods were already loaded onto the truck, so what could he do?

The wholesaler's calculations are even more sophisticated than your accountant's—picking out good materials and charging them as defective products, returning trendy goods as shipping fees. If you look at them, they're not making money from scrap, but money from those who don't understand the trade.

The vendor's quotation sheet is like a weather forecast—just glance at it before you leave, don't take it seriously.

Colon New Materials follows the terminal digestion route for PSM recycling, not reselling to make a profit. Mainstream grades like Mater-Bi, PSM HL-302, and PSM HL-303 are still used by downstream degradable bags, lunch boxes, and packaging factories. Once they are graded and purchased, they are immediately shipped out without inventory pressure. We don't pick out trial production leftovers, batch mixed, or slightly moisture-absorbing and lumped ingredients—they go into Cologne's own modified formula and digest them, just like mixing traditional Chinese medicine. If one ingredient has slightly more starch content, just make up for it with another flavor.

Pricing isn't one-size-fits-all. We grade raw materials by starch content, melting index, appearance, and moisture absorption. We offer good prices for original and new ingredients, and slightly spoiled ones are charged as modified grades. Each price difference is laid out on the table. Plus, with our own production capacity and long-term customers as a backup, our prices don't fluctuate wildly with the market. When prices rise, they chase after you; when prices drop, you ignore their calls. We still get what we deserve.

Good materials aren't afraid of no buyers; what they fear is selling good materials as waste.

The five-step cooperation process: material reporting, grading evaluation, on-site pickup, deducting payment, settlement and invoicing. That's how Old Han's batch of materials went—he took a few photos and sent them with the grade and about five tons. After we appraised and quoted a price, we arranged a time for on-site weighing. After the goods were brought back, the recycling fee was directly deducted from the next month's purchase of KONICE modified plastics, about half of the cost. So the warehouse was cleared, the cash was back, and the new materials arrived at the factory. After one trip, he told me he should have handled it two years earlier.

The essence of recycling isn't about selling scrap, but about turning dead money into working money.

Recyclable PSM covers mainstream starch base grades such as Italy's Novamont Mater-Bi, Wuhan Huali PSM HL-302, PSM HL-303, etc. Other brands like BASF ecovio, Shenzhen Guanghua Weiye, and COFCO Biotechnology are subject to physical appraisal. In terms of form, all are collected: stagnant original packaging (whole bags or loose bags are fine), trial production leftovers, film blowing injection molding edges and corners, bag making sprue nozzles, moisture-absorbing and lumping materials, and inventory residues. Starch base materials have short shelf lives, are sensitive to moisture and enzymes, and the longer they are delayed, the less valuable they become. If you notice backlog, report early.

Three common misconceptions, here is a reminder—

"Is recycling just selling cheaply?" "The truth is that quality and grade sales are different; good materials can sell at good prices, but mixed materials are driven down at lower prices.

"Is starch base material safe to use?" "The truth is, it contains starch, which absorbs moisture and clumps together. If left for a while, enzymes will grow and attract insects."

"Who bids the highest price and sells to whom?" "The truth is, you bargain, weigh down, and delay payments when you get the price, so comparing prices to the three companies actually results in losses."
