Old Hu opened a pipe material factory in Cangzhou, Hebei, making water supply and drainage pipes for municipal works. Last month, a batch of municipal projects had a temporary cut, and those bags of Nordic Chemical FB1350 and several trays of domestic medium-density polyethylene in the warehouse had been sitting on pallets for almost a year. The bottom of the bags was flattened, the production date on the label was still the year before last, and the warehouse staff always avoided it during every inventory.

Engineering projects change at a time; the material stored in the warehouse doesn't change on its own.

Stagnant material isn't a ballast stone, it's a stone weighing on funds.

MDPE this stuff, medium-density polyethylene, sandwiched between HDPE and LDPE—slightly softer than HDPE, a bit firmer than LDPE, specialized for pipes, optical cable sheaths, and films. What is it afraid of? Afraid of mixing. Mixing with HDPE to make tubes results in insufficient ring rigidity; mixing with LDPE to make films is a notch weaker. It's like mixing some glutinous rice flour into flour—each does its own job, but once mixed, none of them do it. What's even more troublesome is that MDPE is more of an engineering market, with smaller quantities than HDPE. When sellers hear it's medium density, they frown . The common problem with

off-topic materials is—everyone is afraid to buy and wants to lower prices. What's even more troublesome is that when MDPE looks together with HDPE, you can't tell by eye alone; density and melt index have to be measured. Dealers don't understand this scheme, so they grab it and squeeze it a couple of times, then calculate it as PE for you, and the good material sells at a low price.

Let me tell you a truth: Old Hu had previously contacted two scrap material collectors. The first one immediately said MDPE, "This material is too niche, we won't buy it." The second came in, but after circling the warehouse, he said, "Your material density is unclear and the grade is unclear, so I can only calculate it as a mixed goods for you." Old Hu knew very well that his bags of FB1350 were genuine Bimodal film grade, but since the other party didn't understand, he had no choice.

When a wholesaler saw unconventional material, the first thought wasn't "How much is this material worth?", but "How much can I bet on?" He didn't understand material nature, so he dared to use the word "niche" to pressure you relentlessly.

To put it bluntly, what they earn isn't the price difference of the material, but the price difference you can't find for the next supplier.

Cologne New Materials follows the terminal digestion route for MDPE recycling. Nordic Chemical's Borstar FB1350, a bimodal film-grade material, has been used by downstream packaging film factories. After grading it, they are directly taken away. We also accept domestic MDPE, cable sheath materials, and pipe-grade materials—niche grades are processed into our own modified granulation formulas, regardless of batch or color. It's similar to mixing concrete: higher grades do big work, lower grades do small work, and every material has its place.

Pricing is based on density, melt index, and ring stiffness. Clean material offers good prices, and slightly degraded materials are accepted as modified materials. With our own production capacity and long-term customers as a backup, our quotes are stable—no one will raise prices just because you use niche materials.

Niche materials aren't unwanted by anyone; it's that you haven't found the right people who truly understand them. Old Hu now says this to everyone he meets, and once he says it, he gets the hang of it. Talking about it can save him a lot of money in a year.

Five-step cooperation process: material submission, graded evaluation, on-site pickup, deduction of payment, settlement and invoice. That's how Old Hu handled that batch of materials—he took photos and sent them, labeling FB1350 for about five tons and domestic MDPE for eight tons. After we appraised and quoted the price, we agreed on a time for on-site weighing. The recycling payment was directly deducted from next month's purchase of KONICE modified plastic, totaling over 30,000. After clearing out a whole row from the warehouse, Old Hu said, "If I'd known, I would've dealt with it the year before last, no need to hold it for so long."

Recycling isn't about selling cheaply; it's about converting the money held in the warehouse into new materials that can be turned. Later, when Old Hu told his peers about this, they finally realized that MDPE wasn't unwanted by anyone, but that they hadn't found the right person.

Currently, the MDPE grades available for recycling are represented by Nordic Chemical's Borstar FB1350 Twin Peak Film Grade; Sinopec, PetroChina, ExxonMobil, SABIC, and other grades are based on physical appraisal. In terms of form, they collect: obsolete original packaging, pipe edges and edges, cable sheathing materials, film edges and edges, machine head materials, and inventory scrap materials. This color material and black material are packed separately, with better grading prices.

Three common misconceptions, here is a reminder —

"MDPE is niche and no one buys it?" "The truth is, if you find the right terminal, a double-peak material like FB1350 still sells quickly."

"Waiting for the project to come back?" "The truth is MDPE absorbs moisture and degrades, so the project doesn't wait for it, and the residual value drops first."

"Whoever sells at the highest price?" "The truth is that people quote high prices over the phone and bargain on the spot, so comparing prices with three companies actually causes losses."
