Old Deng works in Yinzhou, Ningbo, making construction insulation boards and packaging foam. The workshop's foaming machine produces EPS work year-round. Last month, an insulation board project changed its procurement, and several large bags of EPS bead raw material in the warehouse suddenly became unusable.

EPS this material is expanded polystyrene, used for building insulation boards, packaging foam, and fast food boxes—lightweight and space-hungry. But it's pre-beaded, and after absorbing moisture, the foaming rate becomes unstable, and the scraps are even lighter and bulkier—one woven bag can't hold much.

Old Deng's workshop, the EPS scraps and foam scraps cut off daily are piled up in the corners, fluffy and taking up a large space. The warehouse manager said that this month, a huge pile of scraps has accumulated again.

EPS's pain points are very real: light, bulky, space-hungry, leftover materials piled up in the workshop like cotton mountains, squeezing funds and blocking passages.

Obsolete material isn't an asset, it's a liability lying on the books.

EPS beads look light but don't foam well once they get damp. This stuff is like popcorn getting damp—the pellets that should burst can't pop when they get damp, making boards with uneven density and reduced insulation.

More realistic is the scraps. EPS foam is light and bulky, looks like only a few kilograms, but when spread, it takes up a large area. If you don't deal with it, the workshop corners pile up into a mountain of cotton, and forklift aisles can't even get through. Large in size and high in shipping, ordinary dealers are too lazy to haul it.

EPS per unit price isn't expensive, but the volume is large—a few tons of beads can be a huge sum. Insulation boards come in flame-retardant and regular grades, and mixing them up is a hassle.

Light material takes up space but not scales, it's really exhausting—shipping costs are higher than material, and no one wants to pull it.

Old Deng has contacted the material collectors. When the vendor arrived, he glanced at the pile of cotton, waved his hand, and said, "This stuff is too light, the shipping cost isn't enough," or they just offered a floor price, saying, "Take the bulk goods, sell if you want." Old Deng knew there was grading here, but couldn't argue with them.

To put it bluntly, wholesalers use one trick when collecting EPS: they complain it's light and take up space, then push the price down relentlessly. They know this kind of scrap is just piling up on you, so they'll just pressure you.

Some traders look at EPS scraps like cotton—they only complain about taking up space, not what kind of material they are.

Kelong New Materials does EPS recycling and can clearly distinguish between insulation and packaging materials. EPS is a building insulation and packaging foam material that downstream panel and packaging factories have been searching for years. BASF's Styropor F, Neopor, Peripor; Synthos' InVento, InSphere, InPacto; Wuxi Xingda PKF, ZFR, SFR; Ningbo Xinqiao Longwang H-S, H-SB, E-SA. We have targeted customers and can handle it.

If you encounter damp beads or scraps, no worries—go to Cologne's own modified formula and granulation line for digestion, no choice of grade or batch. Flame retardant and ordinary grades are graded separately.

Pricing is based on foam ratio, flame retardant grade, and appearance, with clear pricing. Flame-retardant boards are the price of flame-retardant boards, not one-size-fits-all.

Own production capacity plus downstream customers as a backup, stable pricing. We have our own compression and pelletizing lines for EPS scraps, so we don't have to worry about taking up space.

The essence of recycling isn't about selling scrap, but turning dead money into working money.

Cooperate with five steps of "replacing recycled materials with new materials": material reporting→ graded evaluation→ on-site pickup→ deduction of payment→ settlement and invoicing. Recycling payments are directly offset by Kelong new material payments; the EPS direction corresponds to KONICE's modified plastic series.

Let me tell a true story. Last year, a factory in Ningbo that made packaging foam had about five or six tons of EPS beads plus a bunch of scraps, but after the project modification, it was no longer needed. On our trip, scraps are compressed and packed on-site, bead grading and evaluation, flame-retardant and ordinary grades are calculated separately, and the recycled amount is directly deducted from the next batch of KONICE goods, about half offset. The cotton mountain in the workshop was cleared, and the passage was back too.

Good material isn't afraid of not being picked up; what's scary is selling good material as scrap.

EPS the brands we are familiar with: BASF Styropor F, Neopor, Peripor; Synthos InVento, InSphere, InPacto; Wuxi Xingda PKF, ZFR, SFR; Ningbo Xinqiao Longwang H-S, H-SB, E-SA, and other mainstream foam grades we have been collecting year-round.

Recyclable forms: Stagnant pre-bead original packaging, foam board/packaging foam scraps, fast food box waste, flame-retardant insulation board waste, inventory scraps. Special reminder—Flame-retardant EPS and regular EPS must be stacked separately; mixing them will eliminate the flame-retardant premium.

- "Is EPS light or valuable?" The truth is that even after grading clean beads, they still have a price; the key is the flame-retardant grade.

- "No one is pulling the scraps?" The truth is, there are terminals with compressed pelletizing lines. It's not that you're lightweight, but that you're mixing in.

- "Who bids the higher price and sells to whom?" The truth is, the sellers who complain about light and take up space will only offer you floor prices.
