说一个反常识的数字:SMMA(苯乙烯-甲基丙烯酸甲酯共聚物,业内也叫MS树脂)这个市场,全球前四家厂商攥着九成以上的份额。
一个透明料,比ABS还集中,比PC还挑客。做诊断器械外壳、做检测试剂盒面板的老板都清楚——这东西透光率、残留单体、尺寸稳定性,差一点点,仪器外壳和试剂接触就可能被客户整批打回。
可偏偏它正牌不便宜,回料又不敢碰。中间那档原厂副牌,就成了不少透明件厂私下里算账的对象。
这篇把SMMA讲透:它和PMMA到底什么关系,为什么诊断器械认它,副牌又能不能上。
比PMMA好成型,比GPPS更透亮
SMMA是苯乙烯和甲基丙烯酸甲酯共聚出来的透明树脂。你可以把它理解成“PMMA的好成型版”:透光率高,接近亚克力;吸水率比PMMA低,尺寸更稳;流动性比PMMA好,薄壁、复杂透明件更容易打满。但它又比普通GPPS硬挺、耐刮。
所以它常出现在透明医疗外壳、透镜、灯具导光、化妆品透明盖这些既要透亮又要好加工的地方。
全球格局上,按市场份额口径,英力士苯领(INEOS Styrolution)领跑,旗下NAS®系列是标杆,份额约16%;中国台湾的奇美(Chi Mei)是光学级MS的主力;日本电气化学(Denka)的TX Polymer在光学件上口碑很稳。三家都在非中国大陆。前四家合计份额超九成,集中度极高。
副牌不是次品,是本体聚合线上差毫厘的那一档
SMMA副牌,是同一个厂、同一套本体聚合装置、同一牌号里,透光率、黄度或残留单体出厂检验小幅偏离的批次。分子结构和正牌一致,还是原厂原生树脂。
来源还是那四条:开停车头尾料、牌号切换过渡料、工艺波动致单项指标超标的批次、副线尾料。
边界要拎清:正牌全指标达标;副牌单项小幅浮动;回料是透明件边角料再造粒,已经受过一次热历史,透光率和色相已经走样;再生料更是杂色料掺着回收料,做透明件一上机就雾。SMMA是透明料,忌讳的就是色相和透光率波动,这一点比别的材料更要命。

英力士苯领:NAS®是透明件的标杆
英力士苯领是全球苯乙烯系老大,NAS®系列就是它的SMMA招牌,NAS30、NAS90这些牌号做透明外壳、光学件用得很多。它的特点是色相稳、流动性好,医疗透明件认的就是它。
它的副牌多是透光率、黄度小幅偏离的批次,基材一致。做对透光要求不高的透明内件、非接触试剂的外壳,挑精选副牌很划算。
奇美:台湾光学级MS的主力
奇美是台湾高分子大厂,它的MS/SMMA光学级树脂在导光、显示背光源上用得很广,低吸水、尺寸稳。近年还推了化学回收MMA做的环保MS。
奇美副牌的颗粒和色相控制得细,做一般透明结构件、外壳,指标浮动小,是透明件厂常用的副牌货源。
电气化学:TX Polymer,光学件的老口碑
日本Denka的TX Polymer是MS树脂里的老口碑牌号,光学性能接近亚克力,吸潮低、成型稳,平板显示和光学元件用得多。
它的副牌以光学指标小幅偏离为主,做对光学精度要求没那么高的透明盖板、展示件,是稳妥的选择。
透明副牌怎么验,才不会整批雾掉
头一条,黄度和透光率必测。透明料副牌常飘的就是色相和透光,进厂打个色板,对着光源看有没有发黄、发雾。
再一条,医疗接触件别硬上副牌。要接触试剂、要生物相容性认证的件,乖乖用正牌,副牌单项超标过不了认证。
还有一条,警惕“透明回料”。回料透明料打出来发雾、有黑点,混在副牌里肉眼难分。认准原厂大包装,批次留样。

Here's an unconventional number: in the SMMA (Styrene-Methyl Methacrylate Copolymer, also known in the industry as MS resin), the world's top four manufacturers hold over 90% of the market share.
A single transparent material is more concentrated than ABS and more selective than PC. Anyone who makes diagnostic instrument casings or test kit panels knows this—if the instrument case and reagent come into contact with the reagent just a little, customers might reject the whole batch.
But the genuine brand isn't cheap, and the recycled material is something they dare not touch. The middle batch of original sub-brands has become the target of private accounts for many transparent parts manufacturers.

Better to mold than PMMA and more transparent than GPPS
SMMA is a transparent resin copolymerized from styrene and methyl methacrylate. You can think of it as a "good molding version of PMMA": high light transmittance, close to acrylic; lower water absorption than PMMA, more stable dimensions; better flowability than PMMA, making thin-walled, complex transparent parts easier to fully penetrate. But it is stiffer and more scratch-resistant than ordinary GPPS.
That's why it often appears in transparent medical casings, lenses, light guides for lamps, and transparent covers for cosmetics—places where it needs to be both transparent and easy to process.
In terms of global market share, INEOS Styrolution leads the way, with its NAS® series as the benchmark with about a 16% share; Taiwan's Chi Mei is the main player in optical-grade MS; Japan's Denka's TX Polymer has a solid reputation in optical components. All three are Chinese mainland. The top four together account for over 90% of the market share, with extremely high concentration.
The secondary brand is not defective; it's the one with a slight difference in bulk polymerization line
SMMA the sub-brand, the same factory, same bulk polymerization device, and same grade, with slight deviations in light transmittance, yellowness, or residual cell inspection. The molecular structure matches the genuine brand, still the original original virgin resin.
Sources still include the same four points: starting and stopping the starting and ending materials, grade switching transition materials, batch of batch and secondary line tailings with exceeding single indicators due to process fluctuations.
Boundaries must be clear: genuine products meet all indicators; Secondary brands have slight fluctuations in individual items; Recycled material is granulation from transparent parts scraps and has already undergone one thermal history, with light transmittance and hue already distorted; Recycled materials are mixed with mixed mixed materials, making transparent parts foggy as soon as they are put on the machine. SMMA is a transparent material, and the biggest taboo is fluctuations in hue and light transmittance, which is even more critical than other materials.
Sub-brand theme motto: SMMA sub-brands are not defective materials; they are original factory copolymers on the same main polymerization line, with only millimeters difference in light transmittance and residual monomer testing.
INEOS Styrene Collar: NAS® is the benchmark for transparent parts
INEOS Styrene Collar is the global leader in styrene products, and the NAS® series is its signature brand of SMMA. Grades like NAS30 and NAS90 are widely used for transparent casings and optical components. Its features are stable color and good flowability; medical transparent parts are recognized by this product.
Its sub-brands mostly have batches with slight deviations in light transmittance and yellowness, with consistent substrates. For transparent inner parts with low light transmission requirements and casings for non-contact reagents, choosing a carefully selected secondary brand is very cost-effective.
Chimei: The main optical MS manufacturer in Taiwan
Chimei is a major polymer manufacturer in Taiwan. Its MS/SMMA optical-grade resin is widely used in light guiding and display backlight sources, with low water absorption and stable dimensions. In recent years, it has also promoted environmentally friendly MS made from chemically recycled MMA.
Chimei's secondary brand has fine particle and hue control, making it for general transparent structural parts and casings with minimal fluctuation, making it a commonly used sub-brand source for transparent component manufacturers.
Electrochemical: TX Polymer, a long-established reputation for optical components
Japan's Denka's TX Polymer is a well-known MS resin brand, with optical performance close to acrylic, low moisture absorption, stable molding, and is widely used in flat panel displays and optical components.
's secondary cards mainly have slight deviations in optical indicators, so making transparent covers or display parts with lower optical precision requirements is a safe choice.
How to inspect transparent secondary brands to prevent the whole batch from fogging out.
First point: Yellowness and light transmittance must be tested. Transparent secondary brands often float due to hue and light transmission. Get a color sample at the factory and check for yellowing or fogging in front of the light source.
Another point: don't insist on using secondary labels for medical contact parts. For parts that need to come into contact with reagents or require biocompatibility certification, just use genuine ones; if the secondary tag exceeds individual standards, it won't pass certification.
One more point: beware of "transparent recycled materials." Return transparent material is misty and has black spots, mixed in the secondary brand, making it hard to distinguish with the naked eye. Make sure to use the original factory's large packaging, with batch samples retained.

A customer in Changsha who makes in vitro diagnostic reagent panels previously bought a batch of transparent recycled material of unknown origin at a low price. The resulting panels were stacked with foggy edges and black spots under the light. The customer rejected the batch during random inspection, and the batch scrap rate once reached 18%. Later, I switched to INEOS NAS® and Chimei original sub-brands. When they arrived, they first tested the color plate for yellowness, lowered the scrap rate to just over 1%, and the unit cost was even lower than the genuine brand.
