SBS这个料,水比你想象的深。
同样一袋颗粒,标着SBS,报价能差出三成。便宜的那袋混进鞋底厂,打出来的鞋底硬得像板砖,弯折一下就发白;贵的那袋做改性沥青,卷材弹回来不粘手,夏天不软塌。差别在哪?在苯乙烯含量、在充油比例、在线型还是星型结构。外行看都是黑颗粒,用起来天差地别。
更坑的是,有人拿SEBS掺、拿充油过多的料当SBS卖。鞋材厂打出来的鞋底,穿着穿着就塌;沥青改性厂做出来的卷材,冬天一冻就裂。老板们私下说:SBS这行,便宜没好货是其次,好货和次货长得一模一样才是坑。
这篇就把SBS讲明白:它和SEBS差在哪,全球盘子握在谁手里,副牌又怎么挑才不踩雷。
02 SBS是什么,和SEBS别再搞混
SBS,全称苯乙烯-丁二烯-苯乙烯嵌段共聚物。它是热塑性弹性体的老祖宗,常温下像橡胶一样弹,加热了又能像塑料一样注塑,不用硫化,工艺简单。
它的两大活儿:一是鞋材,做鞋底、鞋垫,软硬适中、弯折性好;二是改性沥青,加进沥青里,路面高温不软、低温不裂。再就是胶粘剂、塑料增韧。
这里要分清一个常见误会:SBS和SEBS不是一回事。SEBS是SBS加氢后的产物,中间那段丁二烯变成了饱和的乙烯-丁烯,耐候、耐热、耐紫外都上了台阶,但价格也更高。做户外、做耐热件找SEBS;做普通鞋底、改性沥青,SBS就够,还更划算。
这个市场,据Dataintelo等多家口径,全球SBS产能高度集中,头部前五控制约四成份额。排在前面的三家国外大厂是:美国科腾(Kraton)、日本旭化成(Asahi Kasei)、台湾李长荣(LCY)。韩国LG化学、台湾台橡(TSRC)也在同一梯队。
03 副牌不是掺油,是嵌段比那条线在浮动
先把定义讲透。副牌,是同一厂家同一牌号里,出厂检验没完全达到正牌指标的那一部分。来源就四类:开停车头尾料、牌号切换过渡料、工艺波动致个别指标小幅超标的批次、副线尾料。
SBS副牌,浮动的多在苯乙烯含量、门尼粘度、充油比例这几项。这里有一句要纠偏的话:
SBS副牌不是掺了油的便宜货,是原厂同批嵌段共聚物里苯乙烯含量和门尼粘度在出厂检验时小幅越线的那一档。
它和回料、再生料的界限要拎清。回料是加工边角料再造粒,已经受过一次热历史,分子量和弹性都掉过;再生料是废旧弹性体回收造粒,性能波动大。而原厂SBS副牌,还是原生聚合粒子,嵌段结构那套弹性底子没动。鞋材和沥青用回料,弯折性和弹性就是在赌。
04 科腾:SBS这个行当的老牌盟主
美国科腾Kraton,是苯乙烯嵌段共聚物这个行当的老牌玩家。据Market Growth Reports与Dataintelo口径,科腾全球SBS产能约三十多万吨,份额在头部位置,线型、星型、充油各档牌号齐全。
它的副牌特点是:门尼粘度或充油比例小幅浮动,但嵌段结构和弹性底子没动。做普通鞋底、一般沥青改性,挑对副档,弯折和回弹都站得住。
05 旭化成:Tufprene的日系代表
日本旭化成,SBS牌号叫Tufprene,另有Asaflex系列。据其公开资料,旭化成在苯乙烯嵌段共聚物上持续扩产,技术积累深厚,牌号在线型和高流动方向都有覆盖。
它的副牌,常见情况是苯乙烯含量或流动指标在出厂边缘浮动。做对外观和回弹要求较高的鞋材、弹性件,挑精选副档,软硬和弯折都在线。
06 李长荣:Taipol的台系主力
台湾李长荣LCY,合成橡胶品牌叫Taipol,据Dataintelo口径份额约7%,是亚太SBS市场的重要玩家,鞋材和沥青改性方向用得不少。
它的副牌,往往是门尼粘度或充油比例轻微偏离正牌。做大批量鞋底、沥青改性料,挑对副档,成本下来一截,性能还够你用。
07 买SBS副牌,先分清线型星型和充油
SBS副牌验收,抓三件事。
先看结构和用途对不对——线型还是星型,充油还是不充油,鞋底和沥青用的牌号本来就不一样。再看门尼粘度和苯乙烯含量,这两项决定软硬和回弹,飘一截,鞋底就变硬。后看原厂原包,大包装小包装都行,但批号、厂家要对得上,防止有人拿SEBS余料或回料冒充。
常见的坑是:拿充油过多的SBS做鞋底,穿着穿着就塌;或者拿非充油牌号去做沥青改性,加工粘度不对。鞋材和沥青是两个方向,牌号选反,再便宜都是返工。

01 Both are called SBS, but the sole is as hard as bricks
SBS This material has deeper water than you think.
The same bag of pellets labeled SBS can differ by 30%. The cheaper bag mixed into the sole factory produces a sole as hard as a brick, turning white when bent; The more expensive bag is made with modified asphalt, so the coil bounces back without sticking and doesn't collapse in summer. What's the difference? In styrene content, oil filling ratio, linear or star-shaped structure. To outsiders, it's all black pellets, making the difference in use.
What's even more frustrating is that some people sell SEBS mixed or over-oiled material as SBS. Soles made by shoe material factories collapse when worn; Membranes made by asphalt modification factories crack in winter from the cold. Bosses privately say: In SBS, cheap and good products are secondary; good products and inferior ones look exactly the same as the ones that are a trap.

02 What is SBS? Don't confuse it with SEBS ,
SBS full name Styrene-Butylene-Styrene Block Copolymer. It is the ancestor of thermoplastic elastomers. At room temperature, it springs like rubber, and when heated, it can be injection molded like plastic. No vulcanization needed, and the process is simple.
Its two main tasks: first, shoe materials—making soles and insoles with moderate hardness and good flexibility; second, modified asphalt, added to asphalt, so the road surface doesn't soften at high temperatures or crack at low temperatures. Then there's adhesives and plastic strengthening properties.
Here's a common misconception: SBS and SEBS are not the same thing. SEBS is the hydrogenated product of SBS; the middle segment of butadiene turns into saturated ethylene-butene, which improves weather resistance, heat resistance, and UV resistance, but it's more expensive. For outdoor or heat-resistant parts, choose SEBS; For ordinary soles or modified asphalt, SBS is enough and more cost-effective.
In this market, according to companies like Dataintelo, global SBS production capacity is highly concentrated, with the top five controlling about 40% of the market share. The top three foreign giants are: Kraton (USA), Asahi Kasei (Japan), and LCY (Taiwan). LG Chem (Korea) and TSRC (Taiwan) are also in the same tier.
03 The secondary brand is not about oil blending, but about the line where the block ratio fluctuates
First, explain the definition. The secondary brand is the part of the same manufacturer and grade that does not fully meet the official brand standards during factory inspection. There are four sources: start-and-stop starting and tail scraps, grade switching transition materials, batch residues with slight exceedances due to process fluctuations, and secondary line scraps.
SBS sub-brands, fluctuations mostly lie in styrene content, Mooney viscosity, and oil filling ratio. Here's a point to correct:
SBS sub-brand is not cheap with added oil; it is the level where styrene content and Mooney viscosity slightly exceed the line during factory inspection in the same batch of block copolymers from the original factory.
The boundary between this and recycled material must be clearly distinguished. Remixed material is processed scraps re-pelletized, having undergone one thermal history, with molecular weight and elasticity dropping; Recycled material is recycled from waste elastomer for pelletizing, with large performance fluctuations. The original SBS sub-brand is still made of virgin polymer particles, with the block structure elastic base unchanged. Shoe materials and asphalt use recycled material, so bending and elasticity are all at stake.
04 Keten: The veteran leader in the SBS industry
US-based Kraton is a veteran player in the styrene block copolymer market. According to Market Growth Reports and Dataintelo, Keten's global SBS production capacity is about 300,000 tons, with a leading market share, covering line, star, and refueling grades.
's sub-brand features slight fluctuations in Mooney viscosity or fuel filling ratio, but the block structure and elastic base remain unchanged. For ordinary soles and general asphalt modification, choosing the right secondary gear ensures bending and rebound.
05 Asahi Kasei: The Japanese representative of Tufprene
Japan's Asahi Kasei, SBS grade Tufprene, also has the Asaflex series. According to its public information, Asahi Kasei continues to expand production of styrene block copolymers, with deep technical accumulation, and grades covering both linear and high-flow types.
Its sub-brand commonly fluctuates styrene content or flow indicators at the factory edge. For shoes with high requirements for appearance and rebound, select carefully selected secondary gears, ensuring both hardness and bending are excellent.
06 Li Changrong: Taipol's Taiwanese main force
Taiwan Li Changrong's LCY, synthetic rubber brand called Taipol, accounts for about 7% of the SBS market according to Dataintelo and is a major player in the Asia-Pacific SBS market, used extensively in shoe materials and asphalt modification.
Its secondary brands often have slightly deviating from the genuine brand in Mooney viscosity or oil filling ratio. For large-scale production of soles and asphalt modified materials, choosing the right secondary brand reduces costs while still providing sufficient performance.
07 When buying SBS secondary brands, first distinguish between linear and star shapes and oil
SBS-filled secondary brand acceptance, focusing on three key things.
First, check whether the structure and purpose are correct—linear or star-shaped, oil-filled or not. The grades used for soles and asphalt are fundamentally different. Then check Mooney viscosity and styrene content, which determine hardness and rebound. If you float a bit, the sole hardens. Next, check the original factory packaging—both large and small packages are fine, but the batch number and manufacturer must match, to prevent people from using leftover SEBS or recycled materials to pass off.
Common pitfalls are: using over-oiled SBS as the sole, which makes it collapse when worn; Or using non-oil-filled grades for asphalt modification, resulting in incorrect viscosity. Shoe material and asphalt are two different fields; choosing the wrong grade means rework, no matter how cheap.

In Tangshan, there's a client specializing in modified asphalt and shoe materials. Previously, they bought SBS from unknown sources for cheap prices. The coils cracked in winter, and the soles turned white after a few bendings. Returns and rework losses were significant.
Later, they switched to SBS's selected sub-brand, which had very little Mooney viscosity and styrene content compared to the genuine brand. The coil didn't crack at low temperatures, the sole didn't bend and didn't turn white, and the rework rate was kept low, so the cost per ton of material dropped significantly
