每年旺季,做透明外壳的厂就要开始头疼:客户拿着手机外壳来验,对着灯一照,正面还行,侧光一看,里面一层雾蒙蒙的发花,像哈了口气没擦干。
问题出在哪?不是模具没擦干净,也不是烘料没烘透,是料本身的透光率没踩线。
做透明件的都懂,普通ABS不透明,要透明就得用MABS。可正牌MABS一吨报价压得人喘不过气,换便宜的回料MABS上机,雾度直接飙上去,一批壳子全变成“磨砂款”。

02 MABS是什么,全球盘子握在谁手里
MABS,学名甲基丙烯酸甲酯-丙烯腈-丁二烯-苯乙烯共聚物,说白了就是“透明版ABS”。它在ABS的骨架上多加了一层甲基丙烯酸甲酯,把橡胶颗粒和基体的折射率调到几乎一致,光才穿得过去。
结果就是:它既有ABS的抗冲和刚性,又能透得像玻璃。做搅拌杯、吸尘器尘杯、手机透明保护壳、化妆品瓶身,都靠它。
但这个盘子,集中度高得离谱。据QYResearch与MarketPublishers两份行业报告交叉,全球透明ABS(MABS)市场前三大制造商合计份额约76%,亚洲地区占比超过九成。
排在前面的三家国外大厂分别是:韩国LG化学、台湾奇美实业、日本东丽。另据Dataintelo口径,这三家的份额大致在16%、13%、11%上下浮动。你品,你细品——透明ABS这种料,基本就是这几家在喂。
03 副牌不是次品,是透光率那条线上的人
先把话说清楚。副牌料,是同一厂家、同一牌号产品里,出厂检验没完全达到正牌技术指标的那一部分。
它的来源就四类:装置开停车时的头尾料、牌号切换的过渡料、工艺波动导致个别指标小幅超标的批次(熔指、色相、透光、雾度)、副线尾料。说白了,分子结构和正牌是同一批聚合出来的,只是出厂化验单上某一项没踩线。
这里有一句必须记住的话:
正牌MABS贵到透明壳不敢报价,回料MABS雾得像旧玻璃,大厂副牌刚好卡在透光率那条线上。
它和回料、再生料是两码事。回料是制品加工边角料再造粒,已经受过一次热历史;再生料是废旧塑料回收造粒,性能波动大。而原厂副牌还是原生聚合粒子,没回炉过。同样叫MABS,一个在原厂聚合塔里出,一个在粉碎造粒线上出,差别就在这。
04 LG化学:透明ABS的头把交椅
韩国LG化学,是全球ABS产能排得上号的大厂,透明ABS这条线它一直是份额靠前的玩家。据Dataintelo口径,LG化学在MABS市场的份额约16%–17%,产品线以Lupoy系列透明ABS为主,其中不乏医疗级牌号,做过生物相容性认证。
它的副牌特点是:透光率和雾度这两项偶尔有一个小幅越线,但抗冲和刚性底子没动。做对透明度要求不是顶格的透明外罩、家电透明件,完全够用。
05 奇美实业:透明件厂的老熟人
台湾奇美实业,POLYLAC是它的招牌ABS系列。据多家市场报告,奇美在MABS市场份额约13%–14%,像PA-758R、PA-726M这类透明牌号,在消费电子和家电透明件圈子里辨识度很高。
奇美的副牌,典型情况是色相黄度指数或熔指在出厂边缘浮动。做透明外壳、透明装饰件,只要你对黄度不是要求苛刻,挑精选副档,性价比很能打。
06 东丽:把透明做到医疗级那一档
日本东丽,TOYOLAC是其ABS品牌,据行业报告口径份额约11%–12%,主打医疗级和高透透明MABS特种应用。东丽的透明料以批次稳定、光学一致性好著称。
它的副牌,往往是光学指标轻微偏离正牌规格,基材本身耐候和抗冲都在。用在对一致性要求高的薄壁透明件、仪器透明视窗,挑对档就没毛病。
07 买MABS副牌,验收就盯这三项
透明料买副牌,别光看价格,验收抓三件事。
先看透光率和雾度,必须实测,拿标准样片测,别信化验单复印件。再看熔指,要对得上你的薄壁或厚壁工艺,熔指差一截,充模就出问题。后看原厂原包,大包装小包装都行,但包装标签、批号、厂家要对得上,防止有人拿回料冒充副牌。
常见的坑是:把“雾度偏高一档”的副牌拿去做高透明件,结果侧光发花被客户退货;或者把色相偏黄的副牌拿去做白底透明件,装配出来颜色发青。用途和副档对不上,再便宜都是坑。

Every year, during peak seasons, manufacturers of transparent cases start to have headaches: customers bring phone cases for inspection, hold them up to the light, and the front looks fine, but under side light, there's a layer of misty flickering inside, as if they've exhaled and haven't been wiped dry.
Where is the problem? It's not that the mold wasn't cleaned clean, nor is the material underbaked, but the material's light transmittance doesn't follow the lines.
Anyone who makes transparent parts understands that ordinary ABS is not transparent; to be transparent, you have to use MABS. But the price per ton of genuine MABS is breathless. When you switch to cheap recycled MABS and put it on the machine, the haze skyrockets, and a batch of shells turns into "matte versions."
In Dongguan's circle of transparent shell bosses, there's a saying: In the transparent parts business, the gamble is on which light transmission level you get. This article breaks the mold of MABS, so after reading, you can decide where to source the next batch of materials.
02 What is MABS? Who holds the global
MABS? Its scientific name is methyl methacrylate-acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer. Simply put, it's the "transparent version of ABS." It adds an extra layer of methyl methacrylate to the ABS framework, adjusting the refractive index of the rubber particles and the base to nearly equal, so it can be worn through.
The result is: it combines ABS's impact resistance and rigidity with glass-like transparency. It relies on it for mixing cups, vacuum cleaner dust cups, transparent phone cases, and cosmetic bottles.
But this market is ridiculously concentrated. According to two industry reports crossed by QYResearch and MarketPublishers, the top three global transparent ABS (MABS) manufacturers hold about 76% market share, with Asia accounting for over 90%.
The top three foreign companies are: Korea's LG Chem, Taiwan's Chimei Industrial, and Japan's Toray. According to Dataintelo, these three companies' market shares fluctuate around 16%, 13%, and 11%. Examine carefully—transparent ABS material is basically what these companies are feeding.
03 The secondary brand is not a defective product, it's the person on the light transmittance line
clarify this first. The secondary brand material is the part of the same manufacturer and grade that hasn't fully met the official brand's technical specifications during factory inspection.
Its sources are basically four: the initial and tail material from the start and stop of the unit, the transition material from grade changes, batches where certain indicators slightly exceed standards due to process fluctuations (melt finger, hue, light transmission, haze), and secondary line scrap material. To put it bluntly, the molecular structure and the genuine brand are polymerized in the same batch; it's just that one item on the factory test report doesn't cross the line.
There's something you must remember here:
Genuine MABS is so expensive that transparent shells are too expensive to quote, recycled MABS is foggy like old glass, and the secondary brands from big brands are stuck right on the light transmittance line.
It's a completely different matter from recycled and recycled materials. Remixed material is the leftover material from the product processed and then pelletized, and has already undergone a thermal history; Recycled material is recycled from waste plastic and pelletized, with significant performance fluctuations. The original sub-brand is still virgin polymer particles, never refrigered. Both called MABS, one comes from the original polymerization tower, the other from the crushing and pelletizing line—that's the difference.
04 LG Chem: The leader in transparent ABS
Korea's LG Chem is a major global ABS manufacturer with a leading market share. According to Dataintelo, LG Chem's MABS market share is about 16%–17%, with the Lupoy series of transparent ABS products mainly including medical-grade grades and biocompatibility certification.
's sub-brand features occasionally slightly cross the line in light transmittance and haze, but impact resistance and rigidity remain unchanged. They are more than sufficient for transparent covers and home appliance transparent parts that are not top-tier transparency.
05 Chimei Industrial: An old acquaintance of transparent parts factories
Taiwan Chimei Industrial, POLYLAC is its signature ABS series. According to multiple market reports, Chimei holds about 13%–14% market share in MABS. Transparent grades like PA-758R and PA-726M are highly recognizable in consumer electronics and home appliance transparent parts circles.
Chimei's secondary brands typically have hue and yellowing index or melt index fluctuating at the factory edge. For transparent shells and transparent decorative parts, as long as you don't have strict requirements for yellow, choosing a carefully selected secondary grade offers great cost-effectiveness.
06 Toray: The grade for making transparency medical-grade
Japan's TOYOLAC is its ABS brand, with an industry report market share of about 11%–12%, focusing on medical-grade and high-transparency MABS special applications. Toray's transparent materials are known for batch stability and good optical consistency.
's secondary brands often have optical indicators slightly deviating from genuine specifications, while the substrate itself has weather resistance and impact resistance. Used for thin-walled transparent parts with high consistency requirements and transparent instrument windows, choosing the right match is a safe choice.
07 When buying MABS secondary brands, focus on these three items during acceptance
When buying secondary MABS materials, don't just look at price; focus on three key factors during acceptance.
First, check the light transmittance and haze. You must measure them in person—use standard sample photos, don't trust copies of lab reports. Next, check the melting fingers—they must match your thin-wall or thick-walled process. If the melting fingers are slightly off, mold filling will have problems. Next, check the original factory packaging—both large and small packages are fine, but the labels, batch numbers, and manufacturer must match to prevent people from taking recycled materials and passing off as sub-brands.
A common pitfall is: using a sub-brand with 'higher haze' to make high-transparency parts, only to have side shine and being returned by the customer; Or using a yellowish sub-brand to make a white-background transparent part, resulting in a bluish color when assembled. If the purpose doesn't match the sub-brand, no matter how cheap, it's still a trap.

Mass production—test machines in small batches first, retain samples, then scale up.
In Dongguan, a client who makes consumer electronics transparent phone casings used to use genuine MABS. One ton of material kept costs down and they even considered switching back to lower prices. But after switching to cheap ones, they got a batch of cheap ones, but the side shine bleached, the transparent shell yield dropped to 70%, and rework cost more than the material price difference.
Later, they switched to the same grade of selected secondary brand from a major imported manufacturer. In actual tests, the light transmittance and haze were only a few percentage points lower than the genuine brand. The side glow flare problem disappeared, the transparent shell yield was brought back to over 95%, and the cost per ton dropped significantly
