全球城市地下管网,每铺100公里聚乙烯压力管,埋在地底下替自来水和燃气扛压的,大半是一个叫MDPE的密度区间。很多做注塑的人一听"PE"就以为是吹膜那点事,可你脚下踩着的给水管、煤气管,恰恰是MDPE的主场。
它密度卡在0.926到0.940之间——比HDPE柔,比LDPE挺,硬是把耐压和抗裂这两件事同时办了。但正牌MDPE一柜压资金,回料埋下去三年就渗,副牌到底能不能用?今天把这层窗户纸捅破。
它不是HDPE的低配,是埋地管的正选
MDPE,中密度聚乙烯,密度落在0.926-0.940 g/cm³这一段。它不像HDPE那样硬挺,也不像LDPE那样软塌,分子链长短支链配比刚好,扛得住10公斤压力的水,也扛得住低温不脆裂。
所以燃气配气管、市政给水管、电信护套、化粪池、防渗土工膜这些"埋下去几十年不能出事"的活儿,点名要它。说白了,这东西天生是给地下埋的。
全球前三国外大厂,牌是怎么排的
全球做MDPE的巨头高度集中。按产能口径,埃克森美孚、利安德巴塞尔、陶氏、SABIC、英力士常年排在全球PE产能前五。落到管道专用料这个细分梯队,利安德巴塞尔、陶氏、SABIC三家的双峰管道料认可度居前,北欧化工靠双峰技术在燃气管道上也是硬角色。
这里要把口径说清楚:上面是"管道专用料"梯队,不是全部PE产能排名。数据源之间有分歧的地方,按梯队讲,不硬排座次。
副牌不是次品,是原厂同批料里那档擦边货
副牌,是同一厂家同一牌号产品里,出厂检验没完全踩中正牌技术指标的那一部分。同一批聚合产物,检验全达标贴正牌标,个别指标小幅浮动,就是副牌。它还是原厂原生聚合粒子,分子结构和正牌没换,只是熔指、密度、耐慢速裂纹增长这些单项化验时飘了一格。
它的四大来源:装置开停车的头尾料、牌号切换的过渡料、工艺波动导致个别指标超标的批次、副线尾料。
这里必须把账算明白:副牌不是回料,更不是再生料。回料是制品边角料重新造粒,已经受过一次热历史;再生料是废旧塑料回收,性能看天吃饭。副牌是原厂同批料,差的只是那一纸合格章。做埋地管的人都懂,这一张章背后,是几十年的安全责任。
利安德巴塞尔:Lupolen,双峰管道料的老底子
利安德巴塞尔,聚乙烯全球产能头部,MDPE这块的代表牌号是Lupolen系列。它的管道料用双峰工艺做,管材静液压强度和耐慢速裂纹增长做得很扎实,燃气和给水项目上用得很广。
它家副牌常见的浮动点是熔指小幅偏离或批次色相差一点,分子骨架还是那套双峰结构。拿来打非压力管、护套管、一般结构件,性能冗余够用;但要是做燃气主管,该走正牌认证流程还得走,别拿副牌赌合格证。
陶氏:Dowlex,管道和农膜两头都站得稳
陶氏靠Dowlex这条线性聚乙烯产品线,在管道和农用膜上站稳了脚。Dowlex MDPE做燃气分配管、电信导管、农膜都有成熟牌号,工艺稳定性和批次一致性口碑在线。
陶氏副牌常见的浮动点是熔指和密度在检验时擦边,外观颗粒可能带点色差。它家副牌适合做排污管、雨水管、电缆护套这类不要求严格PE100认证的内件和一般结构件,性价比一下子就出来了。
SABIC:Marlex,中东成本底气的管道牌
SABIC,沙特基础工业公司,中东一体化成本优势摆在那,Marlex MDPE是它在水、气管道上的招牌。双峰技术加持,管材耐压性能对标欧洲标准。
它家副牌因为原料成本底子厚,价格弹性往往比欧美厂更舒服,缺点是到货周期长、批次跨度大,采购前得把批号和化验单对清楚。做给排水、农业灌溉、化工防腐管道的厂,对SABIC副牌接受度一直不低。
买副牌别只盯密度,这四步先走完
买MDPE副牌,坑就那几个。
头一条,别只盯着密度。耐慢速裂纹增长、静液压强度、熔指这三样才是埋地管的硬指标,密度只是入门门槛。
第二,用途先于价格。做燃气主管、饮用水管这种要卫生和压力认证的,老老实实正牌;做排污、护套、土工膜、配重件,副牌才划算。
第三,验货看批号和化验单,要能追到原厂。大包装小包装都行,但必须带原厂标识和COA。没标识、无批号、价格低得反常的,当心得是回料冒充副牌。
第四,先试机后量产。新批次先跑小批量,测管材爆破和长期静液压,数据稳了再铺量。

宁波有家做市政给排水管的客户,之前为了压成本,掺了一批来路不明的"低价MDPE",结果出厂静液压测试三个月就渗,整批退货,赔了二十多万。后来换成进口大厂副牌MDPE,按批号逐批验熔指和密度,排污管、雨水管良率稳在98.5%,成本比正牌降了一成多。

Many injection molders think "PE" is just about blown film, but the water supply and gas pipes you stand on are precisely MDPE's main ground.
Its density is stuck between 0.926 and 0.940—softer than HDPE, stronger than LDPE, and it manages both pressure resistance and crack resistance simultaneously. But a whole cabinet of genuine MDPE costs capital, and after three years of material burial, it leaks out. Can the secondary brand really be used? Today, let's break through this layer of paper.
It's not a low-end HDPE, but the preferred
MDPE for buried pipes , medium-density polyethylene, with a density between 0.926-0.940 g/cm³. It's not as rigid as HDPE, nor as soft as LDPE. The molecular chain length and chain ratio are just right, able to withstand 10 kg of water pressure and low temperatures without cracking.
So gas distribution pipes, municipal water supply pipes, telecom jackets, septic tanks, and impermeable geomembranes—jobs that "don't have trouble after being buried for decades"—are specifically called for. To put it bluntly, these are meant to be buried underground.
How are the top three global foreign companies ranked
Global MDPE giants are highly concentrated. By capacity base, ExxonMobil, Leanderbasel, Dow, SABIC, and INEOS have consistently ranked among the top five global PE production capacity. In the pipeline specialty material segment, Liande Bassel, Dow, and SABIC have the highest recognition of Twin Peak pipeline materials, while Nordic Chemicals, relying on Twin Peak technology, is also a strong player in gas pipelines.
Here I need to be clear: the above is the "pipeline special materials" tier, not the entire PE capacity ranking. Where there are differences in data sources, they are divided by tier and do not strictly rank seats.
Sub-brand is not defective; it's the marginal product in the same batch from the original factory .
Sub-brand is the part of the same manufacturer and grade that failed to meet the genuine technical specifications during factory inspection. For polymerized products from the same batch, if all inspection meets standards and the genuine label is affixed, with slight fluctuations in certain indicators, that's the secondary brand. It's still original original polymer particles, with molecular structure unchanged from the genuine brand, only a drop in the melting finger, density, and slow-speed crack resistance growth during individual tests.
Its four main sources are: the starting and stopping materials for the plant, transition materials from grade changes, batches exceeding certain standards due to process fluctuations, and auxiliary line scraps.
Here, you must make the math clear: the secondary brand is not recycled material, and certainly not recycled material. Re-grade material is product scraps repelled and has already undergone a heat history; Recycled material is recycled plastic from waste plastic, and its performance depends on the weather. The sub-brand is the same batch of materials as the original factory; the only difference is the certification stamp. Anyone who makes underground pipes knows that behind this stamp lies decades of safety responsibility.
Lianderbasel: Lupolen, a long-established foundation in bimodal pipeline materials .
Lianderbasil, the global leader in polyethylene capacity, and the representative grade for MDPE is the Lupolen series. Their pipe materials are made using the bipolar process, with solid hydrostatic strength and resistance to slow-speed crack growth, widely used in gas and water supply projects.
Common fluctuation points for their secondary brands are slight melting finger deviations or batch color differences, and the molecular framework remains the same bimodal structure. Used for non-pressure pipes, sheath pipes, and general structural parts, performance redundancy is sufficient; But if it's for gas pipes, you still need to go through the official certification process, so don't bet the secondary brand on the certificate.
Dow: Dowlex stands firm at both ends of pipelines and agricultural membranes
Dow has established itself in pipelines and agricultural membranes thanks to Dowlex's linear polyethylene product line. Dowlex MDPE for gas distribution pipes, telecom conduits, and agricultural membranes all have mature grades, with excellent process stability and batch consistency.
Dow secondary brands commonly have fluctuating points such as melt finger and density brushing edges during inspection, and the appearance particles may show some color differences. Their secondary brand is suitable for sewage pipes, rainwater pipes, cable sheaths, and other internal and general structural parts that do not require strict PE100 certification, offering excellent cost performance immediately.
SABIC: Marlex, the pipeline brand with cost confidence in the Middle East
SABIC, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation, Middle East integration cost advantage is clear, and Marlex MDPE is its signature for water and gas pipelines. Backed by dual peak technology, the pipe pressure resistance meets European standards.
Their sub-brand has a strong raw material cost base and price flexibility is often more comfortable than European and American factories. The downside is long delivery times and large batch ranges, so you have to clearly check the batch number and test report before purchasing. Factories making water supply and drainage, agricultural irrigation, and chemical anti-corrosion pipelines have always been quite accepting of SABIC sub-brands.
When buying sub-brands, don't focus only on density; complete these four steps first
Buy MDPE sub-brands, there are only a few pitfalls.
First, don't just focus on density. Resistance to slow crack growth, hydrostatic strength, and melt index are the three hard criteria for buried pipes; density is just the entry barrier.
Second, use comes before price. For gas pipes and drinking water pipes that require hygiene and pressure certification, honestly use genuine brands; For sewage discharge, sheaths, geomembranes, and counterweights, only sub-brands are more cost-effective.
Third, inspect goods by checking batch numbers and test reports, and be able to trace them to the original manufacturer. Large or small packages are fine, but they must have the original factory mark and COA. If there are no labels, no batch number, or prices are abnormally low, beware of recycled materials passing off as sub-brands.
Fourth, test machines first, then mass-produce. For new batches, start with small batches, measure pipe bursts and long-term hydrostatic pressure, and only batch after the data is stable.

Selection tip, remember five tips:
1. Decide the purpose before selecting materials; don't touch the sub-brand pressure pipe to save money;

3. Slow crack resistance and hydrostatic pressure are more important than density;
4. Big manufacturers trace the source as sub-brands, and the batch number COA must be missing;
5. Try small batches first, then mass-produce—underground pipes can't afford to gamble.
Ningbo, a client making municipal water supply and drainage pipes, previously mixed in a batch of unknown "low-priced MDPE" to cut costs. After three months of hydrostatic testing at the factory, it leaked, and the whole batch was returned, resulting in losses of over 200,000 yuan. Later, they switched to imported major manufacturers' sub-brand MDPE, testing melting fingers and density batch by batch number. The yield rate for sewage and rainwater pipes remained stable at 98.5%, with costs reduced by more than 10% compared to genuine brands
