EVOH这料,是乙烯-乙烯醇共聚物,做多层共挤膜的阻氧层,阻氧、保香,做食品包装、汽油箱阻隔层的。可它吸潮性极强,开了袋放久了,物性和加工性就变。
老彭的仓管把那两托料往干燥房挪,可干燥房就那么大,新料还得往里进。那两托呆滞料,只能又挪回角落。车间那头,每天切下来的EVOH膜边角料堆在角落。
EVOH的痛点在于:它是阻氧功能料,吸潮是天敌,放久了命先没。
呆滞料不是资产,是趴在账上的负债。
EVOH说白了就是多层共挤膜中间那层"挡氧气"的,夹在PE和粘合剂中间,做食品包装、药用包装、汽油箱阻隔的。正因为是功能阻氧层,单价不低,一压库占的钱就多。
EVOH吸潮,跟海绵吸水一样,而且比CA、CAB还凶。这玩意儿一受潮,加工性就变,多层共挤的时候容易出问题,膜发雾、阻隔性下降,做食品包装客户不敢用。
更现实的是它小众。EVOH是功能性材料,不是大路货,你仓库里堆着它,普通贩子不认,转手找不到下家。车间里的膜边角料又薄又碎,收拾都麻烦。
功能阻氧料的贵,贵在那层"挡氧气"上,受潮了挡不住,就一文不值。
老彭找过收料的。贩子一听"EVOH",眉头皱起来——这料他听都没听过,转手找不到下家。好不容易来个愿意看的,捏了捏料粒说"受潮了,统货价",往地板上压。
说白了,统货商碰到EVOH这种小众功能料,头一个念头不是想办法消化,是先拿"小众""受潮"当理由压价。他吃准了这种料你找不到第二家,压你就完了。
有些贩子对小众功能料,跟古玩店老板看陌生物件一样——先挑毛病,再往死里压。

Lao Peng makes multi-layer co-extruded packaging film in Yuyao, Ningbo, and the workshop's three-layer co-extruder produces EVOH work year-round. Last month, a food packaging project changed its oxygen barrier system, and the two trays of original EVOH packaging in the warehouse suddenly became unusable.
EVOH this material is ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer, used as an oxygen barrier layer for multi-layer co-extruded films, for oxygen blocking and fragrance retention, and for food packaging and gasoline tank barriers. But it is extremely hygroscopic; after being opened and stored for a long time, its physical properties and processing properties change.
Old Peng's warehouse manager moved those two trays into the drying room, but the drying room was only so big, new material still had to be fed in. Those two stagnant materials had to be moved back to the corner. At the end of the workshop, the daily cut EVOH membrane scraps pile up in the corners. The
EVOH's pain point is: it's an oxygen-blocking material, moisture-absorbing is its enemy—if left too long, it's dead.
Obsolete material isn't an asset, it's a liability lying on the books.
EVOH to put it bluntly, it's the 'oxygen-blocking' layer in the middle of multilayer co-extruded film, sandwiched between PE and adhesive, used for food packaging, pharmaceutical packaging, and gasoline tanks. Because it's a functional oxygen-blocking layer, the unit price isn't low, and once you press the warehouse, you take up more money.
EVOH absorbs moisture like a sponge, and it's even more potent than CA or CAB. Once this thing gets damp, its workability changes. When multiple layers are co-extreasing, problems easily arise—the film fogges up and its barrier properties drops, making food packaging clients hesitant to use it.
More realistically, it's niche. EVOH is a functional material, not mainstream goods. If you have it piled up in your warehouse, ordinary vendors won't recognize it and won't find a buyer when you resell it. The film scraps in the workshop are thin and fragmented, and cleaning up is a hassle.
Functional oxygen barrier materials are expensive because of the 'oxygen barrier' layer. If you get damp and can't hold it back, it's worthless.
Old Peng has contacted suppliers for materials. When the seller heard 'EVOH,' he frowned—he'd never even heard of this material and couldn't find a buyer if he resold it. Finally, someone willing to watch comes in, squeezes the material and says, "It's got damp, consolidated price," and pushes it to the floor.
To put it bluntly, when wholesalers encounter niche functional materials like EVOH, their first thought isn't to try to digest them, but to use "niche" and "damp" as excuses to lower prices. They know you can't find another supplier for this material, so they just pressure you.
Some dealers treat niche functional materials like antique shop owners look at unfamiliar items—first picking faults, then pressing hard.

Tell a true story. Last year, a factory in Ningbo that made food packaging films had about three to four tons of EVOH raw packaging plus a pile of film edge scraps, but the oxygen barrier system was modified and unusable. On our trip, after grading evaluation, the content was split by ethylene content and moisture level, then mildly absorbed and dried before modification. If moisture was separated, the price would be discounted separately, and the recycling amount would be directly deducted from the next batch of KONICE payments. With the drying room freed up, new materials had a place to store them.
Good material isn't afraid of no one buying it; the fear is selling good material as waste.
EVOH we collect year-round, accepting mainstream grades such as general oxygen barrier grade, high ethylene content, and multi-layer co-extruded film grade. Specific grades are subject to physical appraisal; we do not casually state numbers.
Recyclable forms: stagnant original packaging materials, moisture-absorbing materials, co-extruded film scraps, defective scrap products, and inventory surplus. Special reminder—EVOH is extremely sensitive to moisture. If the packaging is torn, pack it separately to avoid the whole batch getting damp.
