The workshop is filled with injection molding machines specializing in AS materials. Last month, a client temporarily changed the transparent material brand. Two trays of original AS material in the warehouse still printed with KIBISAN, and suddenly no one used it.
AS this material, the main goal is "transparency"—high transparency, good rigidity, and a shiny surface. But it's brittle, and after a long time, it becomes more obvious: the scraps pile up in corners, get damp and dusty, and when reheated, the transparency fades.
In Old Sun's workshop, the transparent sprue material collected daily is packed in white bags and stacked along the wall, getting higher and higher. The warehouse manager told him that this month there were two more tons of sprue material.
The pain point of handling transparent materials is especially painful: once yellowed, mixed colors, the "transparent" sign is ruined, and prices plummet.

AS (SAN) is actually styrene acrylonitrile copolymer, used as the main product for lighters, pen barrels, cosmetic boxes, transparent antennas, and other small transparent items. It is highly liquid and easy to mold, with fast order volumes, but precisely because of this rapid turnover, it's easy to stock up and orders to go yellow.
AS yellows like white paper that turns yellow after sitting for a long time—originally bright white turns dark and dull after long, so customers who make transparent parts directly reject it. The original packaging absorbs moisture when opened, and if not thoroughly baked before re-oven, silver threads and fog appear on the surface.
What's even more troublesome in the workshop is the mixed grades. When transparent, heat-resistant, and enhanced grades are mixed for bagging, how can workers tell the difference? Once mixed, transparency and rigidity are questionable.
The value of transparent material lies entirely in the word "clean"; a little dirtiness or yellow loses value.
Old Sun also contacted the collectors. The dealer grabbed a handful of pellets and glanced at the light, saying, "Transparent material, it's a unified price," regardless of whether you have a large circulation like Chi Mei PN-117L200 or a heat-resistant grade like Taiwan NX3200. Old Sun was frustrated—he knew there was a price difference here, but he couldn't argue with them.
To put it bluntly, wholesalers have one trick when buying transparent materials: first check if they're shiny, then press them down hard. They don't care what brand you have; after all, they'll sell the transparent material as regular goods as usual.
Some dealers look at transparent materials like junk collectors looking at bottles—only looking at completeness, not the brand.
