01 每三只透明杯，就有一只是它
说个数字你可能没概念：全球每三只透明一次性塑料杯里，大约就有一只是GPPS做的。
勺子叉子、透明餐盒、灯罩、CD盒、家电面板内衬……这些你每天见的透明件，背后基本都是GPPS。它便宜、透光、好成型，是塑料界的"透明基建"。
但有意思的是，用量这么大的GPPS，副牌市场却乱得很。同样透明、同样能成型，有人卖正牌价，有人卖地板价，做出来的餐盒一个透光干净，一个雾蒙蒙发黄。你品你细品，差的不是透明，是底料。
这篇就把GPPS的全球供应格局和副牌门道讲清楚。
02 透明基建的盘子，三家在分
GPPS，通用级聚苯乙烯，也叫透苯。
苯乙烯单体聚合出来的透明颗粒，透光率高、刚性好、成型快，缺点是脆、不耐冲击、耐温一般。所以它适合做不承重、不抗摔、要求透明好看的件：一次性餐具、透明包装、灯罩、文具、家电内饰件。
全球GPPS供应，集中在几家苯乙烯系专业厂手里。按产能和市场份额交叉，排在前面的国外大厂主要是三家：英力士苯领、奇美实业、LG化学。
英力士苯领是全球聚苯乙烯的老大哥，PS产能盘子大；奇美在台湾，亚太透明PS的标杆；LG化学是韩国综合化工巨头，PS和ABS都做。这三家在GPPS圈里，基本是绕不开的名字。
03 副牌不是发黄料，是雾度飘了
GPPS副牌，先讲清是什么。
它是同一厂家同一牌号生产线上，出厂检验个别指标小幅没达正牌标准的那部分——熔指飘一点、透光雾度差一点、色相偏一档。分子链和正牌一锅出来，透明底子没变。
四个来源：开停车头尾料、牌号切换过渡料、工艺波动致个别指标小幅超标的批次、副线尾料。GPPS产线一开就是几十万吨，过渡料和头尾料在大盘里是稳定的副牌货源。
边界：正牌全指标达标；副牌基材一致、个别指标小幅浮动；回料是加工边角料再造粒；再生料是废旧回收造粒。GPPS副牌做内件、普通透明件、配色件可以；做食品接触的高透明餐具、做认证光学件，就别拿副牌冒险。
04 英力士苯领：透明PS的全球龙头
先说英力士苯领（INEOS Styrolution）。
这家是全球苯乙烯系树脂的专业龙头，PS产能口径上常年排全球前列，在欧洲和全球有十多套装置。GPPS这块，它家的商标是STYROLUTION PS。
代表牌号像158 N/L，这是耐高温级的GPPS，成型快、尺寸稳，做XPS和耐热透明件有口碑。它家的料在医疗实验室耗材和高耐热透明件圈子里很认。
它的副牌特点：工艺精细，副牌主要差在熔指和色相小幅浮动，透明底子干净。做一般透明件、配色件、非食品接触的透明内件，很合适。
05 奇美实业：亚太透明料的标杆
再说奇美实业，中国台湾的老牌化工企业。
奇美在亚太GPPS圈是标杆级的存在，份额口径上常年靠前。它家PS商标是POLYREX®，GPPS牌号像PG-22、PG-33、PG-383M，国内做透明餐盒、灯罩、日用品的厂几乎都用过。
PG-33流动性好，做透明食品容器和灯罩；PG-383M偏通用注塑，做餐盒和冰箱抽屉；PG-22是透明高强度级。这些牌号在长三角和珠三角的注塑厂流通量很大。
奇美的副牌特点：牌号熟、市场认可度高，副牌多为通用透明级的小幅浮动料。做普通透明日用品、非接触食品的包装件，它的副牌是流通性很好的选项。
06 LG化学：大盘通用的韩国巨头
第三家，LG化学（LG Chem），韩国综合化工巨头。
它家PS产能口径上在全球排前面，韩国、中国、美国都有基地，GPPS牌号像25SPR这类通用注塑级，做TV外壳、冰箱搁板、一次性杯子都对口。LG的特点是装置规模大、批次供应稳。
LG化学的副牌特点：大盘通用级，副牌指标浮动窄，适合对透明度要求不极端、但要稳定量产的家电内衬件和普通透明包装。它家在韩国本土和中国市场的流通量都不小。
07 发黄雾蒙，就是副牌的照妖镜
GPPS副牌挑货，几条硬规矩。
认透光。GPPS副牌坑多在雾度和发黄。到货先测透光率和色度，透明件拿强光一照，雾蒙蒙、发黄的直接退。
认熔指。GPPS脆，熔指选不对，薄壁件就开裂。做餐具用高流动，做结构内件用中熔指。
对用途。副牌别碰直接食品接触的高透明餐具、别碰光学级。普通透明内件、配色件、非接触包装，才是它的位置。
防回料。GPPS回料常见的冒充就是"发黄透明料"，低到离谱的透明GPPS，大概率掺了回收。
看包装留批次。大包装小包装都有，留样可溯。

08 七条口诀，透明件一次做干净
口诀：
1. 食品接触高透明餐具、光学件——上正牌；
2. 普通透明内件、配色件、非接触包装——副牌可用；
3. 要高耐热透明——看STYROLUTION PS 158系列；
4. 要流通熟牌、做日用品——看奇美POLYREX PG系列；
5. 要大盘稳定、做家电内衬——看LG化学GPPS；
6. 到货测透光、测色度，发黄雾蒙就退；
7. 价格低得反常，先怀疑掺回料。
浙江杭州有家做透明家电面板和食品包装内托的客户，之前用GPPS副牌吃过苦头：贪便宜拿了批发黄透明料，做出来的微波炉旋钮内罩放三个月就变乌，客户退了一批。后来换成奇美POLYREX的GPPS副牌做非直接接触的家电内衬和普通透明包装，透光和色度实测对齐，变乌不良率从两位数压到千分之几，材料成本还省了一截。

01 Out of every three transparent cups, one is made of this one
Here's a number: globally, about one out of every three transparent disposable plastic cups is made of GPPS.
Spoons and forks, transparent lunch boxes, lampshades, CD cases, home appliance panel linings...... All these transparent items you see every day are basically made of GPPS. They are cheap, translucent, and easy to mold—they're the 'transparent infrastructure' of the plastics world.
But interestingly, despite such a large amount of GPPS, the secondary brand market is still chaotic. Both transparent and moldable—some sell at official price, some at floor prices. The finished lunch boxes are transparent and clean, while the other is hazy and yellow. If you savor it carefully, what's lacking isn't transparency, but the base material.
This article clearly explains the global supply structure of GPPS and the principles behind sub-brands.
02 The plate of transparent infrastructure, three companies are
GPPS it : general-grade polystyrene, also called perbenzene.
Styrene monomers polymerize transparent particles with high light transmittance, good rigidity, and quick molding, but their drawbacks are brittleness, poor impact resistance, and average temperature resistance. Therefore, they are suitable for making parts that are not load-bearing or drop-resistant and require transparency and appearance: disposable tableware, transparent packaging, lampshades, stationery, and home appliance interior parts.
Global GPPS supply is concentrated in the hands of several specialized styrene manufacturers. Based on capacity and market share, the top foreign giants are mainly three: INEOS Styrene Ring, Chi Mei Industrial, and LG Chem.
INEOS Styrene Ring is the global giant in polystyrene, with a large PS production capacity; Chi Mei is the benchmark for transparent PS in the Asia-Pacific region in Taiwan; LG Chem is a Korean comprehensive chemical giant, producing both PS and ABS. These three companies are basically unavoidable names in the GPPS community.
03 The sub-brand isn't yellowish material, it's just a misty
GPPS sub-brand. Let's clarify what it is.
This is the part on the same manufacturer's production line with the same grade, where some factory inspection indicators slightly fail to meet the genuine standard—the melt finger is slightly floating, the light haze is a bit weak, and the hue is off. The molecular chain and genuine brand are all in one pot, with the transparent base unchanged.
Four sources: starting and stopping the initial and tail materials, grade switching transition materials, batches with some indicators slightly exceeding standards due to process fluctuations, and secondary line tail materials. The GPPS production line runs hundreds of thousands of tons from the start; transition and head and tail materials are stable secondary brand sources in the market.
Boundary: Genuine products meet all indicators; Secondary brand base materials are consistent, with slight fluctuations in some indicators; Recycled material is processed scrap material and then pelletized; Recycled material is recycled and pelletized. GPPS sub-brands can be used for interior parts, ordinary transparent parts, and color-matched parts; For high-transparency tableware with food contact or certified optical parts, don't risk sub-brands.
04 INEOS Styrolution: The global leader in transparent PS
Let's start with INEOS Styrolution.
This company is a global leader in styrene-based resins, consistently ranking among the top globally in PS production capacity, with more than a dozen sets of equipment in Europe and globally. For GPPS, their trademark is STYROLUTION PS.
represents a grade like 158 N/L, which is a high-temperature resistant GPPS with fast molding and stable dimensions, and has a good reputation for making XPS and heat-resistant transparent parts. Their materials are well recognized in the medical laboratory consumables and high heat-resistant transparent parts circles.
Its sub-brand features: fine craftsmanship, with main differences in melt fingers and tint fluctuations, and a clean transparent base. It's very suitable for general transparent parts, color-matched parts, and non-food-contact transparent inner parts.
05 Chi Mei Industrial: The benchmark for transparent materials in Asia-Pacific
Speaking of Chi Mei Industrial, a long-established chemical company in Taiwan.
Chi Mei is a benchmark presence in the Asia-Pacific GPPS community, consistently leading in market share terms. Their PS trademark is POLYREX®, with GPPS grades like PG-22, PG-33, PG-383M. Almost every domestic manufacturer making transparent lunch boxes, lampshades, and daily necessities has used it.
PG-33 has good fluidity and is used for transparent food containers and lampshades; PG-383M is more general-purpose injection molding, used for lunch boxes and refrigerator drawers; PG-22 is a transparent high-strength grade. These grades are widely circulated in injection molding plants in the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta.
Chimei's sub-brand characteristics: well-known grades and high market recognition, mostly general-purpose transparent small-scale floating materials. For packaging of ordinary transparent daily necessities and non-contact food, its sub-brand is a highly liquid option.
06 LG Chem: A Korean giant in large-scale general products
The third company, LG Chem, a leading Korean comprehensive chemical company.
Their PS production capacity ranks among the top globally, with bases in Korea, China, and the US. GPPS grades like 25SPR are general injection-molded grades, suitable for TV shells, refrigerator shelves, and disposable cups. LG's features are large equipment scale and stable batch supply.
LG Chemical's sub-brand features: general-purpose large plates, narrow sub-brand specs, suitable for home appliance liners and ordinary transparent packaging that do not require extreme transparency but require stable mass production. Their circulation volume is significant both in the domestic Korean and Chinese markets.
07 Yellowing and haze is like a demon-revealing mirror for secondary brands
GPPS with a few strict rules for selecting sub-brands.
Recognize transparent light. GPPS secondary brand often has pitfalls in haze and yellowing. Measure light transmittance and color first upon arrival; for transparent parts, shine a strong light; if they are hazy or yellow, they will be immediately removed.
Recognize the melting fingers. GPPS is brittle; if the melting finger is wrong, thin-walled parts will crack. Use high flow for tableware; use medium melting fingers for structural inner parts.
Suitable use. For secondary brands, avoid high-transparency tableware that comes into direct contact with food; do not touch optical grade. Ordinary transparent inner parts, color-matched parts, and non-contact packaging are the proper positions.
Anti-retracement. The common counterfeit for GPPS return material is "yellowed transparent material." The ridiculously low transparent GPPS is very likely mixed with recycled materials.
Check the packaging to keep the batch. Both large and small packaging are available, and samples can be traced.

08 Seven mnemonics, clean transparent parts all at once
Mnemonic:
1. Food contact high-transparency tableware and optical parts—use genuine brand;
2. Ordinary transparent inner parts, color-matched parts, non-contact packaging—suitable for secondary brands;
3. High heat resistance and transparency—look at STYROLUTION PS 158 series;
4. For familiar brands and daily necessities—check out Chimei POLYREX PG series;
5. For stable crotches, for home appliance lining—check LG Chem GPPS;
6. Measure light transmission and color upon arrival; if yellowish or hazy, return it;
7. Prices are abnormally low, suspect remixed materials first
In Hangzhou, Zhejiang, there is a client that manufactures transparent appliance panels and food packaging trays. They previously had a bad experience using a GPPS secondary brand: trying to save money, they bought a batch of yellow transparent material wholesale, and the microwave knob internals turned dark after three months, causing the client to return a batch. Later, they switched to Chi Mei POLYREX's GPPS secondary brand for non-direct-contact appliance liners and ordinary transparent packaging. The light transmittance and color metrics matched the tests, the defect rate of darkening dropped from double digits to a few per thousand, and material costs were also reduced.
