ECTFE is a copolymer of ethylene and chlorotrifluoroethylene. In terms of production capacity, Syensqo (formerly Solvay Specialty Polymers, brand Halar) alone accounts for about 68% of the global market, essentially holding this technological route almost entirely in its hands—it inherits the commercialization route of Ausimont from the early years, with strong patents and process barriers. The second tier includes Daikin (with targeted grades in the Asia-Pacific region), as well as a few others like 3M, Chemours, and Arkema. Simply put, it’s hard to rank the 'top three' in this category, so it's more practical to describe the tiers: Halar leads alone, while the others share the remainder.

SISOKO Halar: A Synonym for Anti-Corrosion Lining

The Halar brand is almost synonymous with ECTFE in the chemical anti-corrosion industry. Its linings for storage tanks, reactors, and centrifuges, as well as electrostatic spraying, are widely recognized in engineering projects. Its sub-brands often have deviations in powder particle size distribution or batch flowability, which does not affect the chemical resistance for manufacturers making general acid and alkali equipment linings or pipeline anti-corrosion coatings. Daikin: Supplementary grades for the Asia-Pacific line

Daikin is not a major player in ECTFE, but it has developed several grades tailored to the processing habits of the Asia-Pacific market, mainly focusing on extrusion molding. Its secondary grades are produced in small quantities, with common variations in melt index and color. For factories making rods, sheets, or general corrosion-resistant structural parts, using these secondary grades for trial materials is favorable, offering a friendly processing window and moderate cost. Both large and small packaging are available, depending on whether you are doing coating or extrusion.

Second Tier: 3M, Chemours, and Arkema

3M, Chemours, and Arkema do not have large volumes of ECTFE, mostly supplying grades that complement their own fluoroplastic systems. Their secondary grades are even rarer and more fragmented, and the supply is not as organized as Halar. When encountering this type of material, be sure to check exactly which company and which grade it is—don’t just place an order based on someone saying 'imported ECTFE secondary grade.' In corrosion protection, if something goes wrong, it affects the entire piece of equipment.

Divide by working conditions: use the brand-name products for pharmaceutical-grade, high-purity, and strong oxidizing conditions; for general acid and alkali equipment, only then consider secondary brands. 2. Pay attention to powder particle size and melt flow index; electrostatic spraying is very sensitive to particle size, and deviations cause uneven spraying. 3. Make sure to source Halar system products; avoid the 'ECTFE secondary brand' from small scattered manufacturers. 4. Keep samples of each batch; linings cover dozens to hundreds of square meters, so don't mix batches and cause color differences. Packaging remains the same; rely on the test report, not the bag.
