很多人以为食品盖膜只要密封牢就行,真相是——盖子撕不开,消费者能把这杯酸奶直接投诉到倒闭。易揭盖膜这东西,撕太密封不上、撕太开漏得慌,就卡在那“刚刚好撕下来又不漏”的力道上。
正牌APPEEL一吨报价不低,自己配又配不准那股力道,副牌料这两年成了盖膜厂的香饽饽。今天就把这门“撕盖子”的学问掰开讲。
一、APPEEL是什么,谁在做易揭盖膜树脂
APPEEL不是一种塑料,是陶氏(Dow)旗下专门做“易揭密封”的预配制树脂品牌。它本质是改性EVA或改性聚酯共聚物,做成盖膜的热封层,专门负责跟PP、PET、PS、铝杯这些杯口咬合,撕的时候有一股可控的剥离力。
全球做易揭盖膜树脂的国外玩家,头部玩家就是陶氏自己的APPEEL系列;其次是利安德巴塞尔(LyondellBasell),它家Toppyl系列走的是聚丁烯-1改性PE路线;第三家是日本MCPP(三菱化学旗下),MODIC易剥离合金树脂在封盖上口碑很稳。这个赛道不算大,但配方门槛不低。
易揭这门技术难在哪?难在“力”的窗口。封太牢,老人孩子撕不开;封太松,运输途中就漏。要在一个很窄的剥离力区间里做到批批稳定,还得横跨不同杯材、不同热封温度。所以这个赛道不是随便拿EVA混一混就能干的,背后是十几年配方数据的积累。
二、APPEEL副牌是什么,别跟自配料混
APPEEL副牌和正牌同配方,热封温度窗口常在±5℃内、剥离力多落在10到30牛那一档,它不是密封层的残次品,只是剥离强度在出厂检测时偏了一两牛。四大来源跟别的品类一样:开停车头尾料、牌号切换过渡料、工艺波动批次、副线尾料。
关键是要拎清楚:APPEEL副牌分子配方跟正牌同源,只是剥离力化验值偏了一档。回料是膜厂边角再造粒,热封性能已经废了;再生料更不用提。APPEEL这类料常见小包装。别把回料膜料当APPEEL副牌收,那是两回事。
盖膜这层料用量其实不大,一个杯厂一年可能就用个几吨到十几吨,所以副牌怎么用很讲究。对热封窗口要求严的高温蒸煮盖、医疗盖,别拿副牌硬上;常温酸奶盖、酱料盖、果冻盖这种普通场景,副牌那一档的剥离力漂一两点,客户根本感知不出来,成本却实打实降了。
三、陶氏APPEEL:把易揭做到预配制
主角就是陶氏APPEEL。它家把易揭这件事做到了“预配制”——你不用自己调配方,拿过去就能热封。APPEEL牌号从对着PP杯的、对着PET杯的、到耐蒸煮的都有,比如对着PP热封、能扛120度蒸煮的,还有对着HDPE/LLDPE的。
APPEEL副牌的特点:因为牌号切换频繁,副牌来源稳。常见的是剥离力偏高一档或偏低一档、热封窗口略窄的料,做普通酸奶盖、果冻盖、酱料盖完全够,做不了那种苛刻的高温蒸煮盖和医疗盖膜。
四、利安德巴塞尔Toppyl:另一条技术路
第二家利安德巴塞尔。它家Toppyl系列走的是另一条技术路——在PE里掺聚丁烯-1,靠PB-1的低熔点和剪切敏感做出易揭封。Toppyl SP 2000这类牌号主打吹膜,对着PE基材或对自己撕。
利安德巴塞尔副牌的特点是膜加工性好、热封温度宽,适合做PE基材的易揭膜和热成型盖。它的货量比APPEEL大,但对着PET/PP硬杯的匹配度不如APPEEL那么专。
五、MCPP MODIC:撕得干净少残留
第三家日本MCPP的MODIC。这是三菱化学旗下做改性树脂合金的牌子,MODIC易剥离树脂专门做封口膜,主打“撕得干净、少残留”,热封温度区间宽,膜-膜封、膜-片材封都能上。
MODIC副牌量小但精,常出的是剥离强度小幅偏差的料,适合做高端食品盖膜和医药级盖膜的非关键层。想拿货得等批次。
六、买APPEEL副牌,坑在这三处
一是基材对不上。APPEEL对着PP、PET、PS、铝杯各有对应牌号,拿错基材对,要么撕不开要么漏。
二是剥离力别凭手感。易揭膜就靠那一股力,副牌最容易飘的就是剥离强度,进厂必须用拉力机测。
三是分清预配制副牌和自配料。市场上有人拿普通EVA混点东西冒充APPEEL副牌,撕一次就露馅。建议:先拿样对着你的杯口基材试封,剥离力和热封温度窗口两项都稳了再上量。

八、写在最后

Genuine APPEEL is priced quite high per ton, but if you mix it yourself but can't match that pressure, sub-brand material has become a hot commodity among lid manufacturers in recent years. Today, let's break down the art of "peeling off the lid."
1. What is APPEEL? Who makes easy-peel lid film resin
APPEEL It's not a type of plastic, but a pre-formulated resin brand under Dow specializing in 'easy-peel sealing.' Essentially, it's modified EVA or modified polyester copolymer, made into a heat-sealing layer for lid films, specifically engaged with PP, PET, PS, and aluminum cup openings, providing controllable peel force when peeling.
The leading foreign player in the global easy-peel lid film resin is Dow's own APPEEL series; Next is LyondellBasell, whose Toppyl series follows the polybutyl-1 modified PE route; The third is Japan's MCPP (under Mitsubishi Chemical), whose MODIC easy-peel alloy resin has a solid reputation for sealing caps. This track isn't large, but the formulation threshold is not low.
What's the difficulty with this technology? The challenge lies in the "force" window. The seal is too tight, and elderly and children can't tear it off; The seal is too loose, and leaks during transportation. To achieve batch stability within a very narrow peel force range, you have to cross different cup materials and heat sealing temperatures. So this track isn't something you can just mix with EVA; behind it lies over a decade of formula data accumulation.
2. What is APPEEL's secondary brand? Don't mix it with self-mixed ingredients
APPEEL The secondary brand and genuine brand have the same formula. The heat sealing temperature window is usually within ±5°C, and the peel force is usually between 10 and 30 Newtons. It's not a defective sealing layer, but the peel strength is deviated by one or two Niu during factory inspection. The four main sources are the same as other categories: start-stop and tail materials, grade switching transition materials, process fluctuation batches, and auxiliary line tailings.
The key is to be clear: APPEEL's secondary brand molecular formula shares the same origin as the genuine brand, only the peel force test value is one level off. The recycled material is re-pelletizing the membrane factory's edges and corners, so the heat sealing performance is already ruined; recycled material is even more so. APPEEL materials are commonly found in small packages. Don't treat recycled film material as APPEEL secondary brand—that's a different matter.
Cover film uses a small amount of material; a cup factory might use several to over ten tons a year, so how you use secondary brands is very particular. For high-temperature cooking lids or medical lids that require strict heat sealing windows, don't force them with secondary brands; For ordinary scenarios like room temperature yogurt, sauce, and jelly lids, the peel force at the secondary brand level is just a bit of lift, customers barely notice, but costs are genuinely reduced.
3. Dow APPEEL: Making Easy Peel Pre-Mix
The Star is Dow APPEEL. They have made Easy Peel a "pre-formulated system"—you don't have to adjust the formula yourself, just take it and heat seal it. APPEEL grades range from those facing PP cups, PET cups, to those resistant to steaming, such as those that heat seal against PP, can withstand 120°C cooking, and even those against HDPE/LLDPE.
APPEEL characteristics of sub-brands: Because grades change frequently, the source of sub-brands is stable. Common materials have peel strength one or lower level and slightly narrow heat sealing windows, which are more than sufficient for ordinary yogurt, jelly, and sauce lids, but cannot be used for demanding high-temperature cooking lids or medical lids.
4. Liander Basel Toppyl: Another technical path
The second Liander Basil. Their Toppyl series takes a different technical approach—mixing polybutylene-1 into PE, relying on PB-1's low melting point and shear sensitivity to make it easy to peel. Toppyl SP 2000 and similar grades mainly focus on film blowing, suitable for PE substrates or tearing off yourself.
Liandbasell's secondary brand features good film processing and wide heat sealing temperature, suitable for making easy-release films and thermoformed caps for PE substrates. Its volume is larger than APPEEL's, but its compatibility with PET/PP hard cups is not as specialized as APPEEL's.
5. MCPP MODIC: Tears cleanly with minimal residue
Third Japanese MCPP MODIC. This is a Mitsubishi Chemical brand specializing in modified resin alloys. MODIC easy-peel resin is specially made for sealing films, focusing on "tearing cleanly with minimal residue," with a wide heat sealing temperature range. It can be applied to film-to-film seals and film-to-sheet seals.
MODIC sub-brand is small but fine, often producing materials with slight deviations in peel strength, suitable for high-end food and pharmaceutical-grade non-critical layers. If you want to get stock, you have to wait for the batch.
6. Buying APPEEL secondary brands — three pitfalls
First, the substrate doesn't match. APPEEL has corresponding grades for PP, PET, PS, and aluminum cups; if you pick the wrong substrate, it either won't tear open or leaks.
Second, peel power should not rely on feel. Easy to remove the film relies on that force; the second brand's most likely to float is peel strength, which must be tested with a tensile machine before entering the factory.
Third, distinguish between pre-mixed secondary brands and self-mixed materials. Some people mix ordinary EVA with some sub-brand to pass off as APPEEL, but tearing it off immediately reveals the truth. Suggestion: First, test seal the base material of your cup rim; only increase volume once both peel strength and heat sealing temperature window are stable.

VII. Selection Mnemonic
1. For APPEEL sub-brands, check the substrate first; for PP cups and PET cups, don't check the correct or incorrect numbers.
2. Peel force on pulling machine, rely on feel to gamble.
3. Clearly distinguish between pre-made sub-brands and self-mixed materials; tearing once reveals the real skill.
4. Regular capping film is sufficient; high-temperature steaming and medical caps don't force them.
5. Mainly small packaging, order according to capping film line usage.
8. Final thoughts

After mixing several batches, complaints about peel force drifting, not tearing open, and leaking every month, with return rates once reaching 6%. Later, I realigned the cup mouth with the peel force setting of the APPEEL sub-brand, set the heat sealing temperature window within the appropriate range, and the peel force shifted from fluctuating high to low pressure to stabilize within a narrow range. The cap removal defect rate dropped from 6% to 0.5%, saving nearly 20% of the cost per capping film.
