母婴级原生认证料,不含BPA耐煮沸,蹲高端奶瓶吸奶器——再生料不进瓶身;
医疗级耐蒸汽料,ISO 10993加USP Class VI,扛千次蒸汽灭菌,蹲可复用手术器械;
电子耐高温级,天然V-0加介电稳加尺寸稳,打连接器、半导体测试座、老化插座;
食品FDA级,认准21 CFR 177.1560原生牌号,才碰咖啡机和微波餐具;
1. 母婴奶瓶瓶身,认准原生PPSU团标料,别拿再生料硬闯;
2. 医疗可复用件,认准ISO 10993原生医疗级,再生料不碰主件;
3. 电子连接器,耐高温焊接加天然V-0,对着壁厚看;
4. 半导体测试座,先卡尺寸稳定和低蠕变,再看单价;
5. 食品接触,认准21 CFR 177.1560原生牌号,不是177.1500;
6. 航空客舱件,认原生认证料,再生料只进非认证件;
7. 再生料进货,先做红外光谱分选,别信肉眼看颜色;
8. 大批量量产,先看连续批次记录,再看单批数据;

The downstream of recycled PPSU comes down to three areas—maternal and infant products, medical, and electronics.
But these three areas require completely different things: maternal and infant products must be drop-resistant and BPA-free, medical products must withstand a thousand steam sterilizations, and electronics must withstand high-temperature soldering.
If you use recycled PPSU used for connectors to make baby bottles, T/ZZB group labels will find that recycled material is strictly prohibited on the bottle body, and the entire batch will be rejected; If you use materials made for electronic parts to make sterilized pallets, steam cycles run hundreds of times, with both biocompatibility and traceability as one card, and hospitals won't even let you try them out in procurement.
Confused, it's bulk returns.
What's even worse is—for the maternal and infant and medical certificates, you can't get recycled materials at all. Once the traceability chain is broken, no matter how good the original grade is, it has nothing to do with you.
This article goes through the three major battlegrounds one by one. After reading, you'll understand why electronics factories are eager to get the same ton of recycled amber-colored PPSU, but maternal and infant healthcare doesn't even let you in.
First, settle the accounts.
PPSU is polyphenylsulfone, amorphous, semi-transparent amber, with a glass transition temperature of 220°C, the molecular backbone carrying a sulfone group and a rigid biphenyl aromatic ring. It is inherently flame-retardant, naturally resistant to hydrolysis, and has the toughest qualities among polysulfone. Density is 1.29, and the notch impact can reach 690 J/m, close to the level of PC that is unbreakable. This product has high temperature resistance and toughness among the polysulfone family, and its price is a bit higher than ordinary PSUs, perfectly positioned at the high-end level.
In the downstream map of recycled PPSU, mother and baby products are the brand value highlands, recognized by high-end bottles and breast pumps; Medical is a high value-added field, with thousand-steam resistance plus biocompatibility, so unit value can rise; Electronics and electrical appliances are the foundation for large-scale usage, with natural V-0 plus high temperature resistance and dielectric stabilizer, which OEMs demand daily.
The three combined consume the main PPSU usage.
To put it bluntly, recycled PPSU essentially revolves around these three industries—whatever standards they want, the material looks accordingly; Whatever performance they block you depends on the money.
But these three companies have completely different temperaments: mothers and babies fear BPA and drops, medical care fears steam sterilization and traceability, electronics fear high-temperature welding and dielectric drift. Once you understand these three lifelines, you understand most of the recycled PPSU workbook.
The lifeline for mothers and babies is drop resistance and BPA-free performance
In the mother-infant sector, PPSU is very prominent.
High-end baby bottles, breast pump components, learning cups, children's water cups—these items are put in your mouth every day, don't break when dropped, can't crack after daily boiling, and can't contain Bisphenol A.
PPSU is BPA-free, making them a compliant alternative to PC bottles, resistant to boiling and steam sterilization, with a notch impact of 690 J/m, nearly breaking like PC. That's the fundamental reason it can enter the high-end maternal and infant market. The Radel R series has been in this circle for decades.
But there's a hard pitfall overlooked by sales: The T/ZZB 2152-2021 'PPSU Baby Bottle' group logo clearly states that the bottle body must be made of polyphenylsulfone resin, compliant with GB 4806.6, and the use of recycled material is strictly prohibited. In other words, recycled PPSU cannot be used in baby bottles at all; it can only be used in non-food or non-maternal and infant industrial parts.
One more reminder: In the Ministry of Health's 2011 Announcement No. 23, the resin list lists PPSU entries circulating online include the phrase "limited to 121°C, not suitable for infants," but PPSU bottles have been compliantly circulated domestically for over a decade. This line is more likely misaligned when searching engines crawled the table line and was attached to the remarks on the PSU or PC next to it. Who it actually belongs to can be verified line by line in the original official announcement; don't take it lightly.
Dongguan has a client specializing in maternal and infant peripheral industrial parts. Previously, they wanted to test a batch of transparent recycled PPSU on non-food-grade handle parts, but the customer flipped the group label and the bottle body no-return clause immediately shut down the project, losing the mold trial costs. Later, they shifted their focus entirely to contactless electronic peripherals, and through cross-border capacity allocation, linked the material sources—clean PPSU sprue material from the Southeast Asia maternal and infant electronics manufacturing base was sorted and re-pelletized according to specifications, batch uniformity and traceability, over twenty batches were supplied consecutively, yield remained stable above 96%, and the customer locked the annual qualified supplier directory.
This is the logic of multinational capacity allocation—cheap is useless, batches are uniform, supply is insufficient, and both must be submitted together. Ningbo Kelong New Materials Co., Ltd. has been making modified special engineering plastics for many years, sourcing from multiple Southeast Asian countries and mixing them across regions from domestic bases, running dozens of batches a year. In short, they help you tackle the pre-production batch and supply stability gaps in advance, meeting the bulk demands of major clients.
The lifeblood of medical care is steam resistance and biocompatibility .
In healthcare, PPSU is very selective.
Reusable surgical instruments, sterilization trays, ventilator humidifiers, insulin pen components, dental instruments, hemodialysis parts—these parts either repeatedly enter the operating room or undergo high-temperature steam sterilization. Steam resistance and biocompatibility are two hard lines.
PPSU resistance to repeated steam sterilization is its defining selling point: Solvay's official tests have achieved 500 steam cycles, with no significant degradation in mechanical, thermal, or chemical properties. Downstream manufacturers generally promote 134°C high-pressure steam sterilization over a thousand cycles. Combined with ISO 10993 biocompatibility and USP Class VI grading, native Radel medical-grade products stand firmly on this line.
But recycled materials want to get involved in this field, so in principle, they are not used for medical main components. There are two reasons: first, traceability—medical device materials must be traced all the way to the original polymerization batch, and recycled materials go through several steps and can't be tracked; Second, sterilization validation fails—each batch must undergo complete biocompatibility and sterilization verification, and the batch fluctuates greatly and verification is impossible.
To put it bluntly, medical reusable parts are regulated and prohibit the use of recycled materials. Medical-grade materials aren't about usability, but about whether the formula remains unchanged for eight or ten years, batch stability, and sterilization validity is always effective—these three are the main disadvantages for recycled materials.
The lifeblood of electronics is high-temperature resistance and dielectrics .
Electronics and electrical appliances are the real main battleground for recycled PPSU.
Connectors, sensors, semiconductor test sockets, chip aging sockets, PCB brackets—these components either have to withstand high soldering temperatures, thin walls with V-0, or run long-term next to chips, all requiring high temperature resistance, dielectric, and dimensional stability.
PPSU thermal deformation temperature is 207°C, continuous use temperature is around 180°C, and it can withstand short-term peak welding points; High dielectric strength combined with wide temperature stability is why high-frequency connectors favor it; UL94 V-0 to 0.8mm wall thickness naturally meets standards, no additional flame retardant needed—this is its hardest relative to PC, ABS, and PA.
Plus, PPSU is an amorphous material, with low shrinkage and low creep, making precision connectors with stable dimensions. This is essential for semiconductor test mounts and aging sockets—the probe needs to be plugged and unplugged thousands of times, and if the size drifts a little, the contact resistance becomes unstable.
Why is this considered the main battlefield for recycled PPSU? Because industrial-grade electronic components don't require certification and traceability like maternal and infant medical care; they focus on performance and batch—stable melting fingers, low ash, and uniform color—they can be used. As long as recycled materials are sorted clean and granulation is stable, they truly have a place to play in this field.
What's the pitfall? PPSU, PES, PEI, and PSU are all amber transparent with similar densities and can't be distinguished by the naked eye. Mixing is the primary source of color differences and performance fluctuations. Therefore, electronic-grade recycled PPSU must be sorted by infrared spectroscopy; it's not just about matching colors.
The lifeline of food and aviation is FDA and flame retardant
Food contact, water treatment, and aviation are the incremental market for recycled PPSU
Food here, coffee machine parts, microwave tableware, and food processing equipment parts rely on FDA 21 CFR 177.1560—polyaryl sulfone resin, CAS 79293-56-4. Here's a point that can easily get confused: 177.1500 refers to nylon, not PPSU; PPSU's food contact channel is 177.1560. The designated grade is native compliant, but recycled materials don't have a registry for original grades, so the FDA doesn't recognize recycled material endorsements, so they can't be violated.
Water Treatment side: water purifier membranes and fluid delivery components rely on heat resistance and chlorine resistance, and recycled PPSU has room on this non-certified industrial line.
On the aviation side, aircraft interior parts and airline catering vehicle components intrinsically use flame-retardant V-0 combined with lightweight and durable crew sterilization — PPSU's traditional strengths. But like medical care, airline cabin parts require certification and traceability; recycled materials can only enter non-certified industrial parts.
To put it bluntly, the FDA door has a native brand, so recycled materials should not be forced in; water treatment and non-certified aerospace industrial parts are the incremental parts that recycled PPSU can capture.
Five Directions, Understand Everything in One Sentence
Up to Here, Five Common Directions Are Clearly Distinguished:
Mother-and-Baby Grade Native Certified Material, BPA-Free and Boil-Resistant, Squat High-End Bottle Pump—Recycled Material Does Not Enter the Bottle;
Medical-grade Steam-Resistant Material, ISO 10993 plus USP Class VI, withstands thousands of steam sterilizations, Squat reusable surgical instruments;
Electronic High Temperature Resistant Grade, Natural V-0 with Dielectric Stable Dimensions, Connectors, Semiconductor Test Sockets, Aging Sockets;
Food FDA grade, choose the original 21 CFR 177.1560 grade before touching coffee machines and microwave tableware;
Aviation flame-retardant grade, intrinsic V-0 plus lightweight, but not certified interior and catering vehicle parts.
Don't use electronic grade to smash baby bottle bodies, and don't use ordinary recycled materials to touch medical components. Use the wrong place, money is a small matter, but shutting down is the big deal.
Selection tips, nine sentences explained
After saying so much, here's a set of practical selection tips:
1. For mother and baby bottles, choose native PPSU standard material; don't force your way with recycled materials;
2. For medical reusable parts, use ISO 10993 virgin medical grade; recycled materials should not touch the main components;
3. For electronic connectors, use high-temperature resistant soldering with natural V-0, and look at the wall thickness;
4. For semiconductor test sockets, first ensure dimensional stability and low creep, then check the unit price;
5. For food contact, make sure to use the 21 CFR 177.1560 native grade, not 177.1500;
6. For airline cabin parts, use virgin certified materials; only for non-certified recycled materials;
7. For recycled material purchases, first do infrared spectral sorting, don't trust the visual to see the color;
8. For mass production, first check the consecutive batch records, then the single batch data;
9. For recycled PPSU with ridiculously low prices, assume it hides pitfalls you can't detect.
These are the nine rules, remember them: material selection in the three major battlegrounds basically never fails.
Final Thoughts
The recycled PPSU business looks like selling materials, but it's actually selling the battlefield. Maternal and infant, medical, electronics, food, and aviation—each has its own temperament, but ultimately, it's all one thing—whoever can link multinational production capacity from material sources, stabilize batches, and supply large clients in bulk will be able to enter the supply chain of brand clients.
Ningbo Kelong New Materials Co., Ltd. relies on its layout of multi-country material sources in Southeast Asia and cross-regional allocation of domestic bases, linking overseas and domestic sorting and pelletizing capacity into a single line for major clients to mass-produce. What they want is the reliability of ordering today, receiving materials tomorrow, and ten batches as if they were one batch.
