PU这个行业,水比你想象的深。
同样叫“聚氨酯仿木料”,一吨从八千到三万都有。便宜的做出来三个月就粉化,贵的用十年还跟新的一样。中间差的是什么?不是配方,是原料的出处。
珠海有家做仿木家具部件的厂,前年图便宜拿了一批国产PU自结皮料,做出来的装饰线条冬天一扣就掉皮,客户退货率15%。去年咬咬牙上了进口正牌,一吨两万八,成本直接压不住。后来在圈子里打听才知道——进口PU副牌里,藏着一条别人不知道的成本路。
说白了,PU这行的乱象,不在PU本身,在你不知道自己买到的那桶A料、那一袋B料,是从哪个装置、哪个牌号、哪一炉出来的。
PU是什么?不是一种塑料,是一个家族
PU,全称聚氨酯(Polyurethane),是异氰酸酯和多元醇反应出来的一大类材料的统称。它不是一种塑料,是一个家族——硬泡做保温板和仿木家具,软泡做沙发和床垫,弹性体做滚轮和鞋底,涂料做木器漆,胶粘剂做复合板。
我们这篇讲的“PU副牌”,聚焦在做家具仿木部件用的那一类——硬质自结皮泡沫和PU仿木颗粒。这东西做出来像木头、能刨能钉、防水不腐,欧式家具的罗马柱、雕花线条、门套线,一大半都是PU仿木做的。
全球做PU原料和系统料的国外头部企业,按市场份额排:

PU副牌:双组分体系里的原厂原生料
PU副牌这事,比其他塑料更绕——因为PU是双组分体系,A料(异氰酸酯)和B料(多元醇+催化剂+发泡剂)分开包装,现场混合发泡。
PU副牌的真身:原厂在装置开停车、牌号切换、工艺波动时,那批个别指标(比如NCO含量、羟值、黏度)小幅偏离正牌的A料或B料。分子结构和正牌一致,只是出厂检验时某一项没踩线。
四大来源:开停车头尾料、牌号切换过渡料、工艺波动批次、副线尾料。
边界画清楚:正牌PU系统料全指标达标,批次稳定,做高端仿木家具、出口级装饰线条;副牌PU系统料个别指标小幅浮动,做内销级仿木部件、非外露装饰件;回料PU已经过一次发泡或加工,性能无法复原,不能用于承重复合件;再生PU是废泡沫粉碎再黏合,只能做低端填充。
一句话:PU副牌是原厂原生A料或B料,不是回收料再造。
巴斯夫 BASF——PU家族的全能派
巴斯夫是PU这行产品线最全的——从MDI/TDI单体,到聚酯多元醇、聚醚多元醇,再到Elastopan(模塑泡沫)、Elastollan(TPU)、Elastoflex(软泡系统料),全链条自己做。
做仿木家具的厂对巴斯夫不陌生,它的硬质自结皮系统料在欧式装饰线条里渗透率极高。
副牌特点:巴斯夫副牌多从硬泡系统料的过渡料里出,NCO含量通常在±1%以内浮动,发泡倍率和正牌一致,只是表面结皮手感略粗。适合做内销级仿木罗马柱、门套线、非外露装饰件,不适合做出口级高光仿木家具。包装以大包装为主(A料吨桶、B料袋装),小包装也有流通。
科思创 Covestro——脱胎于拜耳的PU专精派
科思创2015年从拜耳材料科技独立出来,是PU这行的专精选手。Desmodur系列异氰酸酯、Desmophen系列多元醇、Desmopan系列TPU,在汽车和家具领域都是硬通货。科思创这两年还在推CO₂基多元醇(cardyon),是行业里的新故事。
副牌特点:科思创副牌常见的是黏度或羟值略飘,但反应活性和发泡工艺窗口不掉。做仿木家具的厂用科思创副牌,最大的好处是配方兼容性好——很多国产仿木料的配方,本来就是照着科思创系统料调的,换副牌不用大改配方。珠海那家仿木家具厂后来换的就是科思创副牌,配方几乎没动,表面结皮从粗糙调到细腻。
陶氏 Dow——多元醇和系统料的老牌劲旅
陶氏在PU领域主打VORANATE异氰酸酯和VORANOL多元醇,系统料在建筑保温和汽车内饰里用得很多。陶氏的特点是多元醇产品线全,聚醚多元醇的分子量分布控制得稳。
副牌特点:陶氏副牌的指标偏离幅度小,价格比巴斯夫和科思创略低一档,但家具仿木这个细分的货期在国内不如前两家稳。适合做对成本敏感、又需要进口多元醇基材的仿木家具内构件。
PU副牌这三个坑,家具厂踩一个就赔掉一批货
PU副牌用在家具仿木上,坑特别多。
第一坑:拿国产MDI副牌冒充进口巴斯夫/科思创副牌。MDI这东西,国产和进口的NCO含量看似差不多,但杂质含量和反应活性差一大截,做出来的仿木件表面发酥、三个月就粉化。分辨方法:看包装标签——原厂副牌有完整的批号、生产日期、产地代码;假冒副牌标签模糊、批号重号。
第二坑:A料和B料不是一个体系。PU发泡讲究A料B料配方匹配,你拿巴斯夫A料配陶氏B料,反应活性对不上,泡孔直接崩。副牌必须同厂同体系搭配。
第三坑:不分用途乱上。副牌表面结皮略粗,就别做高光外露件;发泡倍率略飘,就别做壁厚公差要求0.1mm的精密件。做内销级仿木线条和罗马柱,副牌刚好。
验收动作:进厂测三项——NCO含量(A料)、羟值(B料)、发泡倍率和表面结皮手感,留样封袋。PU是双组分体系,这三项一项都不能省。

PU this industry, the waters are deeper than you think.
Also called "polyurethane imitation wood," prices range from 8,000 to 30,000 per ton. The cheaper ones pulverize within three months, while the more expensive ones last ten years and still look like new. What's the difference in between? It's not the formula, but the source of the raw materials.
Zhuhai has a factory that makes imitation wood furniture parts. Two years ago, they bought a batch of domestic PU self-setting leather material cheaply, and the decorative lines peeled off in winter, with a customer return rate of 15%. Last year, they gritted their teeth and got the official imported brand, 28,000 yuan per ton, and the cost couldn't be kept down. Later, after asking around in the circle, I found out that the imported PU sub-brand hides a cost path that others don't know about.
To put it bluntly, the chaos in the PU industry isn't about the PU itself, but about not knowing which device, brand, or furnace the bucket of A or bag of B material you bought comes from. What is
PU? It's not a type of plastic, but a family
PU. Polyurethane is a broad term for materials formed by the reaction of isocyanates and polyols. It's not a type of plastic, it's a family—hard foam is used for insulation boards and wooden furniture, soft foam for sofas and mattresses, elastomers for rollers and shoe soles, paint for wood paint, and adhesives for composite boards.
The "PU sub-brand" we're discussing in this article focuses on the category used for furniture imitation wood components—rigid self-curing foam and PU imitation wood pellets. These products look like wood, can be planed and nailed, waterproof and non-rotten. Most of the Roman columns, carved lines, and door frame lines in European-style furniture are made from PU imitation wood.

PU sub-brand: The original factory virgin material in the two-component system
PU sub-brand is even more complicated than other plastics—because PU is a two-component system, material A (isocyanate) and material B (polyol + catalyst + foaming agent) are packaged separately and mixed and foamed on site. The true nature of the
PU sub-brand: During plant startup and shutdown, grade switching, or process fluctuations, the batch of certain indicators (such as NCO content, hydroxyl value, viscosity) slightly deviates from the genuine A or B material. The molecular structure is consistent with the genuine brand, except that one item was not crossed during factory inspection.
Four major sources: start-stop and tail materials, grade switching transition materials, process fluctuation batches, auxiliary line tailings.
Clear boundaries: Genuine PU system materials meet all specifications, batch stability, used for high-end imitation wood furniture and export-grade decorative lines; Sub-brand PU system materials have slight fluctuations in certain indicators, used for domestic sales grade imitation wood components and non-exposed decorative parts; Recycled PU has already undergone foaming or processing, cannot be restored in performance, and cannot be used for reassembling parts; Recycled PU is made by crushing waste foam and bonding it, only suitable for low-end filling.
In a nutshell: Sub-brand PU is original factory material A or B, not recycled material remade.
BASF BASF — the all-rounder of the PU family
BASF has the most complete PU product line — from MDI/TDI monomers to polyester polyols, polyether polyols, Elastopan (molded foam), Elastollan (TPU), and Elastoflex (soft foam system materials), making the entire chain in-house.
factories making imitation wood furniture are familiar with BASF; its hard self-forming leather system materials have a very high penetration rate in European-style decorative lines.
Subbrand Characteristics: BASF's secondary brands mostly come from transition materials of hard foam system materials, with NCO content usually fluctuating within ±1%, foaming rates consistent with genuine brands, only the surface crust feels slightly coarse. Suitable for domestic sales of imitation wooden Roman columns, door frame lines, and non-exposed decorative parts; not suitable for mouth-grade high-gloss imitation wood furniture. Packaging is mainly in large packages (A per ton barrel, B bag packaging), with small packages also available.
Covestro — PU specialization derived from Bayer
Covestro spun off from Bayer MaterialTechnology in 2015 and is a specialist in the PU industry. Desmodur series isocyanates, Desmophen series polyols, and Desmopan series TPU are all hard currency in the automotive and furniture sectors. Covestro has also been promoting CO₂-based polyols (cardyon) in recent years, a new story in the industry.
Sub-brand Features: Covestro's sub-brands often have slightly fluctuating viscosity or hydroxyl values, but their reactivity and foaming process window remain intact. The biggest advantage of Covestro's sub-brands used by factories in imitation wood furniture is their good formula compatibility—many domestic imitation wood formulas are originally formulated according to Covestro's system materials, so changing sub-brands doesn't require major changes. The Zhuhai imitation wood furniture factory later switched to Covestro sub-brands, with almost no changes in the formula, and the surface crust is adjusted from rough to fine.
Dow Dow — a veteran leader in polyol and system materials
Dow mainly focuses on VORANATE isocyanate and VORANOL polyols in the PU field, with system materials widely used in building insulation and automotive interiors. Dow's feature is a complete polyol product line, with stable molecular weight distribution of polyether polyols.
Sub-brand Features: Dow's secondary brands have small indicator deviations and prices are slightly lower than BASF and Covestro, but the delivery times for imitation wood furniture in this segment are less stable than the top two domestic brands. It's suitable for cost-sensitive imitation wood furniture components that require imported polyol substrates.
PU these three pitfalls of sub-brands, furniture factories lose a lot of goods if they step into one
PU Using sub-brands on imitation wood furniture causes many pitfalls.
First pitfall: Using domestic MDI sub-brands to pass off as imported BASF/Covestro sub-brands. MDI has similar NCO content between domestic and imported products, but impurity content and reactivity differ significantly. The surface of imitation wood parts becomes crispy and powders within three months. How to identify: Check the packaging label—the original sub-brand has complete batch number, production date, and origin code; Counterfeit sub-brand labels are blurry or have duplicate batch numbers.
Second pitfall: Material A and Material B are not the same system. PU foaming requires the formulation of Material A and Material B. If you use BASF's Material A and Materials B Material, the reactivity won't match and the bubble will collapse instantly. Secondary Brands must be paired with the same factory and system
Third pitfall: Apply randomly regardless of purpose. If the secondary plate's surface crust is slightly coarse, avoid high-gloss exposed parts; If the foaming rate is slightly loose, avoid precision parts requiring wall thickness tolerance of 0.1mm. Do domestic-grade imitation wood molding and Roman columns; the secondary brand fits perfectly.
Acceptance action: Inspect three items upon arrival — NCO content (Material A), hydroxyl value (Material B), foaming ratio, and surface crust texture, and seal the bag with samples. PU is a two-component system, and none of these three should be skipped.

The hardness deviation of the same grade PU sub-brand is often within ±5 Shore A, with a density tolerance of ±3%. It is polyurethane produced in the same prepolymer formula system as the genuine brand—only the NCO content and hydroxyl value are half a notch higher during factory inspection.
