很多采购以为自己在鞋底料上买的是材料,其实买的是运气——市面上叫“OBC”的货一大堆,价格从一万多到三万多都有,可真正做鞋底发泡,回弹和永久变形能不能达标,拼的根本不是价格,是你手里那批料到底是不是陶氏的东西。

一、OBC是什么,全球格局有多集中
OBC,烯烃嵌段共聚物(Olefin Block Copolymer),用陶氏专利的“链穿梭聚合”技术做出来。它把高结晶的硬段和高弹性的软段在同一条分子链上周期性嵌起来,结果就是回弹好、耐热高、压缩永久变形小,发泡做中底又轻又弹。
这个品类的全球格局非常清晰:陶氏(Dow)的INFUSE系列是绝对主角,靠链穿梭专利基本垄断了商业化OBC。第二梯队是一些在研或试产的跟随者,但真正稳定供货、能上量产鞋材线的,还是陶氏INFUSE一家。所以OBC这篇不硬排前三,按实际梯队讲——主角就是陶氏INFUSE,其余多为跟随或配套。

这意味着什么?意味着你在市面上看到的“OBC副牌”,源头大概率还是陶氏的货,区别只是批次和漂移档位。认准INFUSE的牌号谱系,比纠结别的牌子更实在。
五、怎么认OBC副牌:牌号谱系加实测
既然绕不开陶氏,那认OBC副牌就认两件事:一是牌号谱系,二是实测。INFUSE从9000系列的超软医疗级,到9500系列的鞋材中底,再到9800系列的耐热汽车件,每个牌号硬度和用途分得很清。副牌最常见的就是同一牌号里硬度偏一两度的料。

But whether the sole foam, rebound, and permanent deformation meet standards isn't about price—it's about whether the batch of materials in your hands is actually Dow's product.
OBC how special is this category? Globally, Dow is basically the only company capable of commercializing and mass-producing it. Today, let's clarify this 'cognitive misalignment' account.
1. What is OBC, and how concentrated is the global landscape ?
OBC Olefin Block Copolymer is made using Dow's patented "chain shuttle polymerization" technology. It periodically embeds highly crystalline hard segments and highly elastic soft segments onto the same molecular chain, resulting in excellent resilience, high heat resistance, minimal compression permanent deformation, and foamed midsoles that are light and springy.
The global landscape of this category is very clear: Dow's INFUSE series is the absolute protagonist, monopolizing commercial OBCs through chain shuttle patents. The second tier consists of followers currently under research or trial production, but the truly stable supply and mass production shoe material line is still Dow INFUSE. So this OBC article doesn't rank the top three hard; in terms of actual ranking, the main focus is Dow INFUSE, with the rest mostly following or supporting the product.
Chain shuttle aggregation sounds mysterious, but to put it bluntly, Dow switches between two catalysts, making hard and soft segments "rotate" on the same molecular chain. Ordinary POE soft and hard sections are arranged randomly, while OBC is neatly arranged, so it has high rebound, good heat resistance, and won't collapse under the pedal. That's why a running shoe using OBC midsoles feels completely different from ordinary EVA foam—the molecular level is fundamentally different.

OBC category. Strictly speaking, the second tier doesn't have a truly stable mass production competitor. Some major polyolefin companies are developing block copolymerization, and some are downstream suppliers using Dow INFUSE for blending formulas. But the ones who truly supply under the OBC brand for stability are Dow.
What does this mean? It means that the "OBC sub-brand" you see on the market is most likely Dow's source, with only batch size and drift levels. Recognizing INFUSE's grade lineage is more practical than obsessing over other brands.
5. How to identify OBC secondary brands: grade lineage plus actual testing
Since you can't avoid Dow, recognizing an OBC secondary brand means two things: first, the grade lineage; second, actual testing. INFUSE, from the ultra-soft medical-grade 9000 series, to the 9500 series shoe midsoles, and then the 9800 series heat-resistant automotive parts, each grade's hardness and use are very clear. The most common secondary brand is material with hardness differing by one or two degrees within the same grade.
You can't avoid this test in real-world testing: rebound rate, compression permanent deformation, and foaming rate are tested against the sole usage. After inspection, the product is put on the mass production line—don't gamble on price.
6. Buy OBC secondary brands for soles—these three pitfalls
First, don't use regular POE/EVA as OBC. OBC's block structure is fundamental to its rebound and heat resistance. Ordinary POE foam midsoles collapse after just half a year of stepping.
Second, don't just look at the label on the bag on hardness. The second thing for sub-brands is hardness; if you make a midsole with a two-degree difference, the feel changes completely.
Third, recognize the source of the "OBC secondary brand." This category is almost dominated by one company, and the root can't be avoided by Dow. If the product doesn't match the description, be extra cautious. Suggestion: Test rebound, permanent deformation, and foam multiplication for testing; try on the sole to confirm before increasing the amount.
