Old Zhou's factory is in Beilun, Ningbo, making automotive water pump shells and home appliance structural parts. Last month, the OEM factory issued a notice that the part number that had been out of business for three years had stopped production, and twelve tons of NORYL raw material were packed deep into the warehouse, both pallets and packs. The bag openings were damp and black, the labels blurred by forklifts, and warehouse manager Xiao Wu sighed in front of the pile of materials every month during his inventory. Orders vanished like they did so, materials were compressed just like that, and the stack of pallets outside the weighbridge window was stacked high, occupying half the space, with monthly rent nearly three thousand.
Obsolete materials aren't assets, they're liabilities lying on the books.
PPO this material is just as precious as it is. It absorbs moisture, just like dried goods in southern rainy days—sealed bags can still be carried out, but once the bag breaks, it desperately rushes into the air to grab water, and after two months, its size and properties are all off balance. You think sealing tightly means it's fine? The blackened ring on the bag opening is the moisture it secretly inhaled. Plus, its grades are mixed, the fiberglass content differs by a whole price, and flame-retardant and regular grades are two different things. Ordinary warehouses can't even tell the difference, and if you mix them up, the whole pallet is counted as standard goods. What's worse is that it has a shelf life. If the baking material isn't done promptly after opening, the strength and impact resistance visibly drop, and you won't dare to use it again on the production line, fearing more losses from batch accidents. What you're holding down isn't the material, but your locked cash flow.
You find a scrap collector to come to your door; their calculations can be even more savvy than your accountant's. He doesn't understand who is who, noryl and XYRON, just saying, "It's all the same, I'll give you a fixed price based on standard goods"—good material weighed as defective, weighed on the scale but complained your packaging was torn and moisture-absorbing, then slashed before leaving. Here's a true story: some peers have been pulled back and forth by these dealers three times, each time finding new excuses to lower prices—sometimes saying the materials were damp, sometimes fiberglass was missing, but ended up getting less than 20,000 yuan from estimates. The more you think about it, the more painful it feels.
The vendor's quotation sheet is like a weather forecast—just glance at it before you leave, don't take it seriously.
Cologne is focused on terminal digestion, not resale. Downstream of PPO, we have modification factories and long-term electronic parts customers. Popular brands like SABIC's NORYL and Asahi Kasei's XYRON can be distributed the same day as they are purchased, without holding back inventory or stockpiling. If we encounter unpopular batches or downgrade physical properties, we directly use Cologne's own modified formula for proportional digestion, regardless of grade or batch. Pricing is graded and evaluated by grade, fiberglass content, and flame retardant rating, with clear and solid pricing, not a one-size-fits-all cut. With our own production capacity and stable customers backing us, we don't haggle at the last minute when the market drops. To put it bluntly, we're not profiting from the price difference on your materials, but from "delivering the right material to the right person"—we know how to make money, and you sell reliably.
Good materials aren't afraid of no buyers; what's scary is selling good materials cheaply as bulk goods.
Material swapping is a more practical approach. Five-step process: You submit materials (category, grade, quantity, and take two photos of the bag surface) → we come to your door or send samples for grading and evaluation→ on-site weighing→ receipt the buyback fee is directly deducted from your new material purchase from Cologne → invoiced. Old Zhou's twelve-ton PPO, after evaluation, converts it into KONICE modified plastics and pulls it back to the production line. That month's purchase price is offset by a large chunk, effectively turning scrap into new material on the spot, with funds not stuck in the account. A certain appliance factory did the same last year, clearing half a year's inventory at once, freeing up space to receive new orders. If you have other grades on hand, we'll check them together. We don't need you to sort them out neatly—we do what needs to be sorted on site, and we assess what needs appraisal.
The essence of recycling isn't about selling scrap, but about turning dead money into working money.
We know exactly the grades we accept. SABIC Saber Basic NORYL 731, NORYL GFN3, NORYL GTX, Asahi Kasei XYRON 240Z, XYRON V190, XYRON 540Z—these mainstream grades are all within the regular recycling range; Other grades like Mitsubishi Iupiace are subject to physical appraisal. Recyclable forms include obsolete original pack material (whole tray/loose pack), sprue material/gate material, scrap/machine head material, scrap parts, and inventory scrap material. Damaged bags and moisture-absorbing materials are still collected.
Avoid two common pitfalls. First, they say "recycling means selling cheaply," but the truth is selling by grade and grade; good materials can be sold at good prices, and only when mixed do they get squeezed down. Second, they say "just leave it waiting for price increases," but the truth is that PPO only depreciates and becomes even less valuable after being siphoned off. Third, "whoever offers the higher price sells to them," but the truth is that when you get the price, you have to bargain, weigh it, or delay payments, making the price worse than the other three
