PBT/PC为什么难处理?
Old Sun is making car body covers in Taizhou. A batch of PBT/PC alloy material has been sitting in the warehouse for nearly half a year because the client changed suppliers at the last minute. Twelve tons of raw material are stacked on two layers of pallets, and the bottom layer has been scraped by forklifts, exposing the semi-transparent particles inside. He originally wanted to sell it cheaply to a peer, but when the other party heard it was alloy material, he shook his head: "I don't dare accept this, I can't measure its properties." Old Sun stood in the warehouse, scratching his head at the pile of materials—saving them takes up space, but selling them won't fetch a good price.
PBT/PC, this automotive-grade alloy material, when dull, is even more exhausting than pure metal.
If the material in the warehouse doesn't move, the money on the account doesn't move. Why is
PBT/PC so hard to handle? It combines PC's impact resistance with PBT's chemical resistance, specifically for bumpers and body parts that need both impact and oil resistance. But precisely because it's two materials, the difference in proportions means a huge difference in physical properties—like brewing Chinese medicine—adding one more ingredient changes the whole pot's flavor. Ordinary recyclers can't tell how much of your bag contains PC or PBT, so they just label it as an "unknown alloy." The unit price of alloy material is already high; storing it in a warehouse means both capital and rent. Over time, the PC part tends to absorb moisture and yellow, just like apples that change color after being stored too long—there's no going back.
The value of alloy lies in the formula. If the formula can't be explained, the price can't be described.
Another detail: automotive-grade alloy materials often come in color, black and gray mixed together, and the formula is impossible to tell from the appearance. Wholesalers specifically target this point—they don't tell you that mixing color requires a price reduction, just calculate it as a mixed product. When you check the accounts later, it's already settled that you sell several yuan less per kilogram.
Now let's talk about the scrap collectors. You make a round of calls, and the caller first asks, "Do you have a physical property chart?" and you say no, their tone immediately cools—without a physical property chart, they have a reason to lower the price. You've seen the wholesale merchant's trick: they quote you a high price over the phone to lure you in, then come to see the goods and say, "This material is moisture-absorbing," "This bag is torn," "This batch is mixed in other colors," and they give you seven or eight reasons to cut you off by 10 to 20 points. Some are even more ruthless—after the goods are taken away, they wait a week before saying "the next store doesn't want them," telling you to find a way to bring them back, and you have to pay the shipping costs. To put it bluntly, they're not here to collect the goods, but to leave themselves a backup plan.
Once the goods end up in someone else's hands, you lose the initiative.
Kelong New Materials does end-use digestion recycling; we can handle automotive-grade alloys like PBT/PC. We have customers who have long made bumpers, body covers, and low-temperature resistant structural parts using these materials. Popular batches can be picked up the same day and left without inventory pressure. When encountering unconventional formulas, mixed batches, or long-term storage, we bring them back to the factory for physical property testing and grading, then import our own modified formulas and digest them according to proportion, without choosing specific grades or batches. Pricing is based on actual measurements, impact resistance, chemical resistance, and appearance grading, with clear pricing—not a fixed price for unified goods. With our own production capacity and fixed customers as a backup, our quotes are stable and don't fluctuate wildly with market trends.
Alloy materials aren't afraid of being stocked; what's scary is that no one truly understands them.
Five-step cooperation process: material reporting, grading and evaluation, on-site pickup, deduction of payment, settlement and invoice. You send us the printed label, quantity, appearance, and purpose of the material bag, and we rate based on the actual product grading. Once we reach an agreement, we come to your door to deliver the goods. The repurchase payment can be directly used to offset your subsequent purchase of new materials—for engineering plastics, we have our own KONICE modified plastics series. Old Sun from Taizhou's twelve tons of PBT/PC that had been sitting for nearly half a year after appraisal was discounted to a real price, which directly offset about half of his second half of the year's KONICE modified material payments. The bags of broken corners weren't picked out and calculated separately.
Taking over materials others wouldn't dare to touch is real skill.
We have received quite a few recyclable PBT/PC grades. PC/PBT alloys used for bumpers and body panels like the SABIC Xenoy series are our regular recipients; Other brands and formulas of PBT/PC alloys are also welcome, subject to actual appraisal. Recyclable forms include obsolete original packaging (whole pallets or loose packages are fine), sprue and gate materials, body scrap and machine head scraps, bumper scrap and defective products, as well as inventory scraps at the end of the project. Clear labeling and single-component inventory scraps can all be negotiated.
Three pitfalls to avoid. "Is it enough to just pick any scrap material for alloy materials?" The truth is, people who don't understand the formula can only give you a uniform price. "Let them take it away first, then settle the bill?" The truth is, once the goods reach someone else's hands, you lose bargaining power. "Waiting for customers to come back and use them?" The truth is, if customers don't come back, the material will only become less and less valuable.
Compliance: Proper recycling and disposal, complete weighing and recycling forms, traceable flow, able to cooperate with environmental audits and ISO audits, never passing to illegal small workshops
