Old Sun opened an agricultural film factory in Shouguang, Shandong, making mulch film for greenhouses. This spring, orders were temporarily reduced, and the few bags of DFDA-7042 blown film granules and two bags of DFDA-7047 in the warehouse had been sitting on pallets for over half a year. The bottom of the bags was flattened, the production date on the label was still last year, and the warehouse manager said, "If we don't move it soon, this material will really become an antique."
In the agricultural film industry, it's dependent; orders can change at a moment, but the material pressed in the silo won't change accordingly.
Stagnant material isn't a ballast stone, but a stone that holds up capital.
LLDPE this thing, linear low-density polyethylene, is related to LDPE, but its physical properties are different—tougher, more stiff, and has higher tensile strength. What is it afraid of? Afraid of mixing. Mixing with LDPE and blowing film disrupts its properties; Mixing it with recycled materials, dealers just treat it as a mixed bag. It's like mixing rice and millet in the same jar—they're all good things, but once mixed, they can only be sold as porridge. What's even more troublesome is that LLDPE accumulates for a long time and absorbs moisture, produces crystalline spots when blown film, and the finished mulch film breaks when pulled. The common problem with
bulk generic materials is—anyone can buy it, everyone wants to bargain at a lower price. What's even more troublesome is that when LLDPE and LDPE are placed together, you can't tell by eye alone; you have to measure melt index and tensile strength. Dealers don't understand this scheme, so they grab it and squeeze it a couple of times, then calculate it as PE for you, and the good material sells at a shoddy price.
Let me tell you a truth: Old Sun had previously contacted three scrap collectors. The first one quoted a price, and when they arrived, they said, "Your DFDA-7042 is too ordinary, it's everywhere on the market," cutting the price by a bit. The second one was even worse: without even entering the door, he said over the phone, "Bring it yourself, I'll pay this price." Old Sun almost pulled it over, but luckily a peer warned him, "With this kind of middleman, if you bring him over, they'll still pick on you again."
The tactic of the wholesaler is pretty much the same as the rental agent—first luring you in, then after you enter, they pick everything from lighting to floor, and in the end, the price is far from what was originally said.
What he profits from is the information gap, not the material price difference.
Kelong New Materials follows a terminal digestion route for LLDPE recycling. DFDA-7042, a general-purpose blown film-grade material, has been used by downstream agricultural film factories and composite film factories. After grading and receiving it, they are directly sold without inventory pressure. We also accept niche grades like DFDA-7047 — niche materials are processed into our own modified granulation formula, regardless of batch or color. It's similar to cement mixing: higher grades do big work, lower grades do small tasks, and no material is wasted.
Pricing is based on melt index, tensile strength, and appearance grading; clean materials offer good prices, and slightly degraded materials are accepted as modified materials. With in-house production capacity and long-term customers as a baseline, prices remain stable, and they won't turn their backs on others at the slightest market drop.
General material sells quickly, but you have to find someone who actually uses it. Old Sun says this to everyone he meets now.
The five-step cooperation process: material submission, graded evaluation, door-to-door receipt, payment deduction, settlement and invoice. That's how Old Sun handled that batch of material—he took photos and sent them, bidding for about twelve tons of 7042 and 3 tons of 7047. We appraised and quoted the price, then arranged a time for on-site weighing. The recycling payment was directly deducted from next month's purchase of KONICE modified plastic, totaling about 50,000 yuan. After clearing out two warehouse rooms, Old Sun said, "If I'd known, I would've handled it the year before last. Why would I have held it for so long?"
Recycling isn't about selling cheaply; it's about converting the money locked in the warehouse into new material that can enter the raw material warehouse. Later, when Old Sun explained this to his peers, they finally understood—it turned out LLDPE wasn't worthless, but that they hadn't found the right people to truly use it.
Currently, the recyclable LLDPE grades include mainstream numbers like Sinopec DFDA-7042, DFDA-7047, and PetroChina DFDA-7042; Dow DOWLEX series, ExxonMobil Enable/Extended series, Hengli Petrochemical, and other grades are based on actual appraisal. In terms of form, they collect: obsolete raw material, film blowing nozzle, mulch film edges and corners, machine head material, waste film roll, and inventory scrap. This color material and black material are packaged separately, with better grading prices.
Three common misconceptions, here is a reminder—
"Generic materials are everywhere in the market, can't sell at a good price?" "The truth is, a large circulation means more buyers; finding the right terminal is better than finding a dealer."
"Waiting for the market to return?" "The truth is that LLDPE absorbs moisture and degrades, and every extra month you put it down, its residual value drops by a bit."
"Is it easier to bring it over and sell it yourself?" "The truth is, the price difference between door-to-door pickup and home delivery can be quite high."
