1. 先分体系:PA6和PA66是两套行情,别混着比价;
2. 再看来源:PIR水口料干净批次稳,PCR拆解料要过清洗关;
3. 三看黏数:相对黏数掉没掉,是聚合度最硬的证据;
4. 四看玻纤:增强料先问GF含量和长度保留率,别只看价格;
5. 五看灰分:灰分越高杂质越多,A级料才敢顶新料用;
6. 六看改性:增强、阻燃、增韧、耐磨,方向决定身价;
7. 七看认证:汽车件问IMDS和低气味,电子件问UL黄卡;
Anyone who works in plastics knows there's a saying in the engineering plastics circle: nylon is a brick—move wherever it's needed.
But you might not know that half of this brick is now 'regenerated.' Engine intake manifolds, phone connectors, power tool casings, climbing ropes, carpets, even the quick-dry sportswear you're wearing—all might contain recycled nylon.
Data Makes It Even Harger: In 2023, the automotive industry consumed 185,000 tons of regenerated-enhanced PA6, accounting for over 40% of global consumption, with engine peripheral parts accounting for one-third; By 2025, the combined application scale of recycled nylon pellets in automotive and electronics will exceed 10 billion yuan.
You're still struggling with whether recycled nylon can be used, but OEMs have already included recycled materials as a threshold for supplier procurement. This article lays out the application map of recycled nylon. After reading it, you can decide whether to continue treating it as a "low-end product."
Recycled nylon, in plain terms, means sorting, crushing, cleaning, melting, filtrating, and pelletizing polyamide waste—injection molding sprue material, defective parts, waste fishing nets, scrapped car parts, and old carpet—into machine-ready pellets.
It's not dirty, low-class, or shabby. Physically recycled recycled PA6 reinforcement can achieve tensile strength over 60MPa, flame retardant meets UL94 V-0, and nylon's natural wear and oil resistance are not lost at all.
The key is that it's cheap and reduces carbon emissions: recycled materials have about 40% lower carbon footprint than virgin resin, are priced a bit lower, and are even specifically supported by policies—the new EU ELV regulation requires that new models use at least 15% recycled plastic by 2032, and 25% by 2036. This isn't low-end material—it's the material on the wind .
Auto: The engine peripherals are its main base
Recycled nylon for cars isn't about environmental protection, it's a hard standard.
Intake manifold, valve cover, engine cover, battery housing, door frame — these components handle high temperatures, vibration, and oil stains. Nylon is naturally for this. In 2023, China's automotive industry consumed 185,000 tons of regenerated reinforced PA6, of which about 62,000 tons were engine peripheral components, accounting for one-third of the automotive sector.
PA6 and PA66 have a clear division of labor in this field: PA6 is affordable and impact-resistant, used for intake manifolds, fans, and covers; PA66 has a higher melting point, is rigider, and more heat-resistant, used for high-load parts and connectors around engines. Recycled materials also follow this division—automotive-grade recycled PA66 is scarcer and more valuable than recycled PA6.
The trend is accelerating: SAIC, BYD, and CATL have raised the procurement threshold for recycled nylon 6 materials to no less than 15% of the quality. By 2025, recycled nylon 6 materials used in door panel frames, rearview mirror housings, and battery structural parts will reach 53,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of nearly 40%.
To put it simply, automakers don't want "cheap," but "verifiable recycling"—where the material comes from, how much is added, and whether performance is stable—every item must be recorded in the supply chain ledger.
Electronics & Electrical: A regular in connectors and circuit breakers
Electronics & Electrical Appliances is more straightforward than by ton.
By 2025, the application scale of recycled nylon pellets in electronics and electrical appliances will reach about 4.82 billion yuan, accounting for nearly a quarter of the total. PA66 recycled material used for connectors, coil frames, circuit breaker housings, and relay bases relies on nylon substrates with good heat resistance, arc resistance, and insulation.
Automotive wiring harness connectors are especially selective — they must withstand high temperatures, vibration, and plug-in and unplug lifespans. Many manufacturers use recycled PA66 for non-exterior functional parts, still get UL yellow cards, and those that should meet performance standards will still pass.
The logic for electronic components is "certification first": materials that fail UL, flame retardant below V-0, leakage scarring index must be negotiated before price. As long as the parameters are solid, no one says recycled material cannot enter electronics factories.
Industrial Machinery & Tools: The Underestimated Hidden Main Force
Power Tools and Sports Equipment is another major customer for recycled nylon.
By 2025, the combined value of the power tools and sports equipment sector will be about 3.16 billion yuan, accounting for over 15%. Gears, bearing housings, tool handles, pump and valve accessories, pulleys—these parts need to be wear-resistant, self-lubricating, and impact-resistant, and recycled nylon reinforcement fits perfectly.
Yuyao has a factory that makes power tool gearboxes. Previously, using domestic new PA66 material couldn't lower costs. After trying several local recycled materials, they found the batch sizes uneven—glass fiber content drifted from 28% to 40%, gear sizes fluctuated, and customer complaints kept coming.
Later, Ningbo Kelong New Materials Co., Ltd. directly sourced PIR sprue material from Southeast Asia. Each batch first passed combustion testing for glass fiber, with GF30 batch stably pressed between 29% and 31%. After toughening modification, both impact and wear resistance passed customer shelves, reducing costs by about 20% and doubling monthly usage.
To put it simply, the selection logic for industrial parts is simple: parameters match, batch stability is stable, and recycled and new materials make no difference on the machine.
Textiles and Outdoor: Another Life of Recycled Nylon
Many people don't know that the biggest consumption scenario for recycled nylon is actually textiles.
In the global renewable nylon market, textiles and apparel account for about half, making them even larger than engineering plastics. Recycled fishing nets are made into climbing ropes, swimsuits, and quick-dry clothes; old carpets are recycled into carpet base fabrics. The nylon fiber recycling chain is more mature than engineering plastics—because fiber-grade fibers require extremely high viscosity, and factories that can stabilize fiber-grade materials have even more engineering materials.
's biggest lesson for ordinary buyers is: if the recycled nylon pellets you buy are high-viscosity materials from the textile industry, making them into injection-molded parts is actually more impact-resistant. The source of the material is itself a grade.
Final note: Eight mnemonic rules to get recycled nylon off
1. First, classify the system: PA6 and PA66 are two different market conditions, don't mix prices together;
2. Then check the source: PIR sprue material is clean and batch stable; PCR dismantled material must pass the cleaning process;
3. Third, check viscosity: whether the relative viscosity has dropped is the strongest proof of polymerization;
4. Fourth, check fiberglass: For reinforcement materials, first ask about GF content and length retention, don't just look at price;
5. Fifth, check ash content: the higher the ash content, the more impurities; only grade A materials can be used as new materials;
6. Sixth, check modification: strengthening, flame retardancy, toughness, wear resistance—the direction determines your value;
7. Seventh, check for certification: ask for IMDS and low odor for automotive parts; ask for UL Yellow Card for electronic parts;
8. Eighth, check the batch: dare to provide a test report for every batch; if you don't, be cautious.
In conclusion: Recycled nylon, no matter what, is basically about "reusing waste nylon"—but whether it can be used well depends entirely on selection and modification. Ningbo Kelong New Materials Co., Ltd. has handled many cases in grading, increasing viscosity, and enhancing modification of recycled nylon. Simply put, it's about turning "waste" into "stabilized material."
