咖啡杯盖密封用什么材料?物性表谁都会印,牌号背后见工厂

As soon as hot drinks are poured, the lid softens, feels hot to the touch, and leaks. The seal and heat resistance aren't matched, and for takeaway cups, everything relies on this lid.

Leakage from hot water is not because the cap wasn't screwed on, but because it's not heat-resistant enough.

The coffee cup lid seal is a 'sealed heat-resistant component': sealing, temperature resistance, migration. The material must be sealing, temperature-resistant, migration-resistant — conclusion first: SEBS-based TPE is mainstream for coffee cup lid seals; for hot drink cup lids, TPV is preferred.

The biggest pitfall of coffee cup lid sealing: anyone can print a property table, but the factory is revealed behind the brand. The property table can be printed, but the factory cannot be hidden — the factory is the true line of authenticity for the cup lid.

A coffee cup lid is a food-grade part: leaks and deformation are problems. Choose the right material, and the drink will stay safe—food-grade parts, don't skimp on material costs.

Bring hot drinks every day, why use TPE?

Reasons for using TPE for coffee cup lids: it can provide sealing, it can withstand temperature, it can prevent migration, and it is efficient — these four combined make it suitable for cup lids.

Sealing is key: leak-proof sealing. Seal testing is included in acceptance — leakage is a problem.

Temperature resistance cannot be compromised: hot drinks come into contact. Temperature resistance testing should be included in acceptance—deformation is a problem.

Sealing, hot drinks, portability—what to check in each of the three areas

Sealing conditions: Leak-proof sealing. Sealing data must be verified—leakage indicates a problem.

Hot drink conditions: contact with hot drinks. Temperature resistance data must be tested—deformation indicates a problem.

Carrying conditions: carried with bumps. Sealed data must be checked—spillage is a problem.

Table reading: PE is cheap but has average rebound sealing; TPE has good rebound sealing — cup lid sealing TPE, lid body PE.

Select by part: Cap body PE, seal TPE.

Form reading: Each person should have a copy of the TDS, and the official stamp is controlled in the production line and batch management—cup lids need to be heat-resistant and sealed, and only after inspecting the line at the factory can we increase the quantity.

The factory is the authenticity line of the cup lid.

If you only look at the material properties table and not the factory, the batch will fluctuate.

Pitfall 1: Only looking at the material properties table. Even if the table looks nice, the feel changes once the batch is switched— for components like cup lids that come in contact with the mouth, the factory and sample comparison are more important than the table.

Pitfall 2: Missed temperature resistance testing. Deformation — temperature resistance testing is a must.

Pitfall 3: False sealing labels. Leakage — sealing should be inspected and accepted based on actual measurements.

Heat-resistant, sealed, factory—ask before capping

Three questions: Where is the factory, what is the temperature of the hot drink, and according to what standard is it sealed? One verification: test with actual use — three questions and one verification, supplier's details are clear.

Factory verification comes first: production line, batch traceability, and sample retention system should be checked item by item before discussing the price. Verify the factory first, then discuss the price — the factory is the authenticity line for cup lids.

Making sample retention a habit: retain samples from each batch, seal them, and re-test by batch for temperature resistance. When changing batch materials, compare first before scaling up—the more stable the batch, the fewer the customer complaints.

The lid of a hot drink cup must withstand 90-100℃, and the seal relies on rebound, not hard pressing. Compression should be 15%-25%; if compression exceeds 30%, it will spill when containing soup. A Shore A 50-60 soft seal is not brittle.

The cup lid spills as soon as it tilts, not because the opening is large, but due to the rebound drop under hot beverage conditions. High temperatures pose a tougher challenge for low-precipitation formulas; choose heat-resistant SEBS so that repeated opening and closing with hot drinks does not cause deformation.

Seal test simulation for carrying: fill with hot soup and cover, tilt, shake, invert to check for spills. Anyone can print TDS, the genuine seal is controlled by batch and production line—only after on-site inspection at the factory will mass production be allowed; samples from each batch are kept to test Shore A.

Silicone stoppers are skin-friendly but three times more expensive; food-grade TPE with an over-contact report is offered at half price. The cup lids are produced in large quantities, and TPE does not require vulcanization; PVC is replaced without phthalates, and the environmental costs are obvious at a glance.

Hot coffee left out for an entire afternoon, the cap becomes soft and sticky, and when opened, white frost appears—it's the precipitation forced out by high temperature. Choose a formula with low-temperature tolerance and low precipitation; after 7 days of storage, the surface is not sticky; batch hardness within ±3A.

Coffee cup lids are sealed to hold hot drinks every day. TPE food-grade material must withstand 90°C heat, with minimal deformation under pressure. If compressed for too long and it doesn't bounce back, it will leak.

Hot drinks have large temperature differences, and ordinary materials harden over time; choose a temperature-resistant food-grade formula, so the hot cup lid doesn’t soften or collapse, doesn’t leak, passes LFGB tests before mass production, and the drinking spout fits well.

The cup lid is sealed but has low precipitation. Hot drinks migrate quickly, and ordinary materials become sticky over time; after testing each batch with hot drinks, it rebounds, does not leak, and is not sticky before release.

Coffee cup lid finishing acceptance: heat resistance and rebound, fit to the drinking opening, and migration are checked with each batch. Samples from each batch are tested for rebound after 90°C hot drinks, ensuring no leakage or stickiness; for a batch material change, small batch lid trials are done first, and shipment is made only after passing LFGB.

Cologne Customer Case: Insufficient oil resistance causing swelling and deformation, parameter adjustment after over 1000 hours of aging

A car parts factory in Yantai had an issue with coffee cup lids: insufficient oil resistance caused them to swell and deform after being soaked in oil. Kolon collaborated to adjust the injection molding parameters (mold temperature/material temperature/holding pressure), eliminating the swelling, and passed the 1000-hour aging test on the first try. The parameter window was locked, stopping the swelling from the source — for oil resistance problems, first look at the formulation, then the parameters.

Summary

Selection of coffee cup lid sealing, the factory first checks, then tests the sealing. Anyone can put the grade on the datasheet, but the back should be checked with the factory. The factory is the line between genuine and fake.
