Grabbing just a handful from the bag opening is equivalent to artificially assuming that this bag of material is uniform. And it is precisely this type of goods that is most likely to be uneven in such places.

Preliminary appearance screening: This step is free of charge and highly valuable

After obtaining the sample, first do three zero-cost things:

First, spread it out and take a look. Grab a handful and spread it on white paper to see if the particle size is uniform, whether there are variations in color, any obvious black spots, impurities, or unplasticized raw material.

Secondly, smell. Normal nylon has a slight plastic odor; if there is a noticeable burnt smell, sour smell, or pungent odor, it is usually due to degradation or additive exudation.

If there is a problem with a 10% mix, the loss is controllable and it's easy to determine the cause; if there is a problem with a 30% mix, it is often an accident.

There is a rough but practical criterion: if this part breaks, will anyone get hurt, will it cause the entire machine to stop, or will it require disassembly for repair?

If all three answers are 'No,' it can usually be relaxed; if there is one 'Yes,' it is not recommended to use this type of material, even if it is much cheaper.

6. Which items are recommended to completely avoid this type of material

To be blunt, the following categories are ones that we internally do not recommend dealing with:

Safety-related components: involving braking, steering, load-bearing, and high-voltage insulation

Parts requiring long-term certification: parts already tagged, backup parts, if the traceability is broken it will cause trouble

Parts that are under long-term stress or long-term heat: the aging data of secondary materials is usually unavailable.

Precision fitting parts: batch fluctuations are directly reflected in the dimensions

Parts with high appearance requirements: uneven color and batch color differences are difficult to control

On the other hand, there are actually quite a few suitable applications: internal brackets, wire clips, non-critical cover plates, temporary orders, and process adjustments during the prototype stage.

Using this type of material for trial mold adjustment is a very cost-effective practice—since the process itself already consumes a lot of material, why not buy the cheaper option?

If all three criteria are met, it's worth it even if the price is slightly higher. Because what you save is the time and money spent on full inspection for each batch, and more importantly, the anxiety of not knowing whether the batch is acceptable.

After acceptance and warehousing, secondary brand materials should be accounted for and labeled separately, and must never be mixed into the inventory flow of modified nylon from the main brand—mix once, and the traceability system is ruined.
