一吨FEP树脂,正牌和副牌差价大概几百到一千。一卷高频线的绝缘层用料不多,摊到每卷上省下来的钱,看着就几百块。
但要是这批FEP介电损耗不对,高频信号过线衰减超标,一整卷线过不了通信厂的电气测试,直接退回。一卷线的货值、返工费、客户罚款,加起来几万块。
一吨省八百,一批赔三万。这笔账小学生都会算,但下单的时候总有人只盯着吨价。
FEP这个料,做高频线缆绝缘层,介电性能是关键指标。介电常数和介电损耗差一点,5G、数据中心那些高频线就废了。今天这篇,把FEP的全球格局、三家头部厂、副牌怎么用在高频线缆上,一次讲透。
FEP是个什么料
FEP是氟化乙丙烯共聚物,四氟乙烯和六氟丙烯共聚出来的。它跟PTFE同属全氟家族,化学惰性、耐温、耐化学都继承了PTFE的底子。
但FEP有个PTFE比不了的本事:它能熔融挤出。PTFE不能熔融加工,FEP可以用普通挤出机挤成薄壁绝缘层。这就是它能在高频线缆里当绝缘层的原因——挤得出来,还耐温、还介电稳。
它的核心性能:介电常数低而稳,高频下介电损耗小;耐温两百摄氏度上下;耐化学、耐候、不燃。做数据线、做高频同轴线、做航空航天线束的绝缘层,都用它。
短板是贵,而且做高频线对它的介电性能要求极苛刻。
全球做FEP的,三家国外大厂压着高端
按市场份额口径,FEP全球供给跟PTFE类似,被几家氟化工巨头占着。下面三家是绕不开的主供。
第一家,科慕(Chemours)。 科慕从杜邦分拆出来之后,旗下Teflon FEP是这个品类的标杆。Teflon FEP的牌号体系成熟,加工窗口宽,耐温到两百摄氏度,航空航天和新能源高压线束里大量用。按市场研究机构的说法,科慕在全球FEP市场是领先者,全球分销网络铺得很广。
第二家,大金工业(Daikin)。 日本大金的FEP品牌叫NEOFLON,NP系列是高频线缆薄壁绝缘的主力。按行业数据,大金的NP系列在薄壁绝缘线缆这块份额很高,低介电损耗牌号专门针对5G和数据中心高频线开发。大金在氟化工全链上的优势,让它的FEP在电子线里辨识度很高。
第三家,3M。 美国3M的Dyneon部门做FEP树脂和薄膜,品牌叫Dyneon。3M在高洁净度FEP薄膜和电子封装里有一席之地,FEP树脂也供高频线缆绝缘。
再往后是索尔维(Solvay/Syensqo),它在FEP这块也是欧洲主力,特种高温耐腐FEP树脂份额不低。行业报告里对3M和索尔维的份额估算有分歧,有的口径3M更高,有的口径索尔维更高,但这三家加起来,把全球高端FEP的大半占了。
副牌通识:FEP副牌飘在哪
副牌的道理通用:同一厂家同一牌号,出厂检验个别指标没踩中正牌下沿,就是副牌。四大来源——开停车头尾料、牌号切换过渡料、正常生产中介电损耗/熔体流动指数/色相小幅飘移的批次、副线尾料。它还是原厂原生树脂,分子链跟正牌同源。
这里要纠一个常见误解:FEP副牌并非树脂降档,而是原厂同批全氟共聚物里介电损耗那一档化验表上没盖正牌章的料。它不是差一档的料,是同批料里介电指标在边缘的那一档。
FEP做高频线缆,副牌飘的指标恰恰是尤其要命的介电损耗。做高频线绝缘层,对介电损耗零容忍,副牌别碰。做普通耐热线、做防腐衬里、做薄膜,这些对介电飘一点不敏感,副牌完全能上。
边界还是那条:正牌全达标、批次稳;副牌个别指标小幅飘、基材同源;回料是边角料再造粒;再生料是废旧回收。FEP因为贵,市面上拿普通耐热线的料冒充高频级副牌的事不少,务必分清应用等级。

第一,分清高频级和普通级。高频线绝缘层对介电损耗零容忍,普通耐热线对介电飘一点不敏感,别混。
第二,介电损耗先测。做高频线的副牌进厂,介电常数和介电损耗必须留样测,别只看商家保证。
第三,包装分大小。FEP副牌大包装小包装都有,小包装打样,大包装量产。

Anyone who makes cables understands the accounts.
For one ton of FEP resin, the price difference between the main brand and the secondary brand is roughly several hundred to a thousand. A roll of high-frequency wire doesn't use much insulation material, so the money saved per roll is only a few hundred yuan.
But if the dielectric loss of this batch of FEP is incorrect, and the high-frequency signal attenuation over the line exceeds the limit, a whole roll of wire will fail the electrical test at the communication factory and be directly returned. The value of a roll of wire, rework costs, and customer penalties add up to tens of thousands of yuan.
Save eight hundred per ton, lose thirty thousand per batch. Even elementary school students can calculate this, but when placing orders, there are always people who only focus on the price per ton.
FEP material is used to make the insulation layer of high-frequency cables, and its dielectric properties are key indicators. If the dielectric constant and dielectric loss are slightly off, high-frequency cables for 5G and data centers are ruined. Today’s article explains the global landscape of FEP, the three leading manufacturers, and how secondary brands are used in high-frequency cables, all in one go.
What kind of material is FEP?
FEP is a copolymer of ethylene and propylene fluorides, copolymerized from tetrafluoroethylene and hexafluoropropylene. It belongs to the same perfluorinated family as PTFE, inheriting PTFE's chemical inertness, temperature resistance, and chemical resistance.
But FEP has an ability that PTFE can't match: it can be melt-extruded. PTFE cannot be processed by melting, while FEP can be extruded into thin-walled insulation layers using a regular extruder. This is why it can serve as an insulation layer in high-frequency cables—it can be extruded, is heat-resistant, and has stable dielectric properties.
Its core properties: low and stable dielectric constant, low dielectric loss at high frequencies; can withstand temperatures around 200 degrees Celsius; resistant to chemicals, weather, and non-flammable. It is used for insulation layers in data cables, high-frequency coaxial cables, and aerospace wiring harnesses.
The drawback is that it is expensive, and its dielectric performance requirements are extremely strict for making high-frequency circuits.
Globally, for making FEP, three major foreign companies dominate the high-end market.
In terms of market share, the global supply of FEP is similar to PTFE, dominated by several major fluorochemical giants. The following three are the main suppliers that cannot be bypassed.
The first one is Chemours. After spinning off from DuPont, Chemours' Teflon FEP has become the benchmark in this category. Teflon FEP has a mature grade system, a wide processing window, and can withstand temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius. It is widely used in aerospace and new energy high-voltage wiring harnesses. According to market research institutions, Chemours is a leader in the global FEP market, with a very extensive global distribution network.
The second company is Daikin Industries. Japan's Daikin FEP brand is called NEOFLON, and the NP series is the main product for high-frequency cable thin-wall insulation. According to industry data, Daikin's NP series has a very high market share in thin-wall insulated cables, and the low dielectric loss grades are specifically developed for high-frequency lines in 5G and data centers. Daikin's advantage across the full fluorochemical chain makes its FEP highly recognizable in electronic wires.
The third company is 3M. The Dyneon division of 3M in the United States produces FEP resin and films, under the brand name Dyneon. 3M has a place in high-purity FEP films and electronic packaging, and FEP resin is also supplied for high-frequency cable insulation.
Next is Solvay/Syensqo, which is also a major player in Europe for FEP. Its share of specialty high-temperature, corrosion-resistant FEP resin is not small. Industry reports have differing estimates of the market shares of 3M and Solvay; some indicate 3M is higher, while others suggest Solvay is higher. But together, these three companies account for more than half of the global high-end FEP market.

The principle of secondary-grade cards is universal: if it’s from the same manufacturer and of the same grade, but certain inspection indicators just missed the lower limit of the standard grade, then it’s considered a secondary grade. There are four main sources—residues from start-up or shutdown of production, transitional material from grade switching, batches with slight deviations in dielectric loss/melt flow index/color during normal production, and tail materials from secondary lines. It is still the original resin from the original manufacturer, with molecular chains sourced the same as the standard grade.
Here we need to correct a common misunderstanding: the FEP secondary brand is not a lower-grade resin; it is material from the same original batch of perfluorinated copolymer whose dielectric loss grade on the test report does not have the official stamp. It is not material that is one grade lower; it is the grade at the edge of the dielectric specification within the same batch.
FEP is used for high-frequency cables, and the index that the secondary brand tends to drift in is precisely the especially critical dielectric loss. When making insulation layers for high-frequency cables, there is zero tolerance for dielectric loss, so avoid secondary brands. For ordinary heat-resistant wires, corrosion-resistant linings, or films, these are not sensitive to slight dielectric drift, and secondary brands can be fully used.
The boundaries are still the same: the main brand fully meets the standards and has stable batches; some indicators of the secondary brand fluctuate slightly, but the base material is from the same source; scrap material is edge waste that is reground; recycled material is recovered from waste. Because FEP is expensive, it is common in the market to use ordinary heat-resistant wire material to fake high-frequency grade secondary brands, so it is essential to distinguish the application grades.
Chemours Teflon FEP's sub-brand, how to use ordinary heat-resistant wire
Chemours' secondary brand of Teflon FEP mainly stands out in dielectric loss and melt flow index.
For making ordinary high-temperature wires or internal wiring for electronic devices, these parts are not sensitive to high-frequency dielectric properties, so Teflon FEP sub-brands work well. For making 5G high-frequency cables or data center coaxial cables, use the genuine brand and don't skimp. Chemours sub-brands mainly come in large packages and are used for the material warehouses of cable factories.
The sub-brand of Daikin NEOFLON, thin-walled parts should be carefully selected
Daikin NEOFLON's sub-brand has performance indicators similar to Chemours. Daikin is strong in high-frequency thin-wall lines, and its sub-brand is mostly used for ordinary heat-resistant wires and sheaths. For high-frequency thin-wall insulation, the main brand is still used.
3M Dyneon's sub-brand, suitable for films and jackets
3M Dyneon's secondary brand, mainly used for FEP films and ordinary cable sheaths. Its characteristic is that the film series is mature in the grade, and the secondary brand is used for non-high-frequency insulation sheaths, with acceptable performance.
Choosing Side Plates to Avoid Pitfalls: Three Things About FEP
First, distinguish between high-frequency grade and ordinary grade. The insulation layer of high-frequency wires has zero tolerance for dielectric loss, while ordinary heat-resistant wires are not sensitive to slight dielectric drift. Don't confuse the two.
Second, measure the dielectric loss first. When using a secondary brand of high-frequency wire, the dielectric constant and dielectric loss must be sampled and tested, not just rely on the supplier's guarantee.
Third, packaging comes in different sizes. FEP sub-brands have both large and small packaging; small packaging is for sampling, while large packaging is for mass production.

Share a case. In Baoding, there is a factory that makes electronic cables supplying high-frequency coaxial cables and ordinary high-temperature resistant leads to local communication equipment manufacturers. Previously, they had been using genuine Chemours Teflon FEP cables, costing over a hundred thousand yuan per ton, and the cost of cable insulation layers couldn't be reduced. They replaced a batch of cheap FEPs with machines, but the dielectric loss was incorrect. The high-frequency cables failed the electrical tests by the communications factory, and the entire batch was returned, resulting in losses of tens of thousands. Later, we paired them with a sub-brand of the same Chemours brand, but used for the standard high-temperature resistant leads, the high-frequency coaxial wires continued to use the genuine brand.
