做包装膜的圈子里,同一种东西叫“POE增韧料”,报价能从一万八跳到三万八。外行看的是袋子上的牌子,内行看的是袋子里那层增韧层到底用了谁家的料。更有意思的是,越是做高透明热封膜、拉伸缠绕膜的老厂,越不愿意把自己用的增韧料品牌写在配方表上——不是藏私,是这行的水,比你想象的深。
同样挂着“进口POE副牌”的名头,有人买来一上机,膜面发雾、封口强度掉一档;有人却能把成本压下去三成,良率还往上走。差别不在运气,在你认不认得清EXACT这三个字背后的家底。
EXACT不是品类,是埃克森美孚手里的一块牌子
EXACT本身不是一个品类,是埃克森美孚(ExxonMobil)手里的一块牌子。它对应的那类料,行话叫聚烯烃塑性体,跟POE弹性体是同门——都是用茂金属催化剂,把乙烯和α-烯烃在流化床里共聚出来的东西。
区别只在于共聚单体加多加少、密度往哪边靠:密度往0.88以下走,软得像橡胶,叫POE;密度高一点、还能挤出膜片、又保留低温柔韧的那一段,就是EXACT这类塑性体。说白了,它是给PE、PP、包装膜“添柔骨”的料——加个百分之十几,膜的抗穿刺、热封强度、低温耐折就上去了。
全球能把这东西做成规模的,拢共没几家。按产能和市场份额排,国外前三基本是这张名单:陶氏化学(Dow)的ENGAGE系列、埃克森美孚的EXACT系列、三井化学(Mitsui Chemicals)的TAFMER系列。按行业研报口径,陶氏约占全球聚烯烃弹性体市场四分之一上下,埃克森美孚约两成出头,三井化学约一成多;这三家加起来占了全球该市场的大头,LG、SK、SABIC-SK这些韩系排在第二梯队。这是2025年前后的产能份额口径,不同报告数字略有出入,但前三名的座位基本没动过。
EXACT副牌到底是个啥,跟回料怎么分
先把定义说透:EXACT副牌是埃克森美孚同一牌号、同一聚合装置上下来的原厂原生粒子,分子结构跟正牌一模一样,只是出厂检验时个别指标——比如熔指、密度、雾度——小幅偏出了正牌的内控线,于是不贴正牌标签,走副牌渠道。它不是回料,不是水口再造粒,更不是再生料。
四类来源:装置开停车那一段头尾料;切牌号时过渡出来的过渡料;工艺小幅波动、某一批熔指或色相飘了一点的批次;还有副线尾料。跟回料的区别更要拎清:回料是你厂里加工过一次的边角料重新造粒,已经吃过一次热历史,性能打了折;再生料是外面收来的废旧塑料,波动更大。副牌是原厂第一次聚合出来的原生粒子,干净、批次可追溯。包装上也好认,原厂原包,分大包装和小包装两种。
陶氏ENGAGE:铺得宽,副牌批次相对齐
第一家陶氏化学。ENGAGE是它在茂金属聚烯烃弹性体这块的当家品牌,全球出货量常年靠前。陶氏的强项是牌号铺得宽,从极低密度到可注塑级都有,做增韧膜、做汽车改性都能找到对应牌号。
它的副牌料特点是批次相对整齐,指标浮动小,做包装膜增韧层那种对雾度敏感的活,陶氏副牌口碑一直稳。要提醒一句:陶氏副牌在流通里经常被人混着卖,拿低熔指牌号冒充高流动,上机才发现挤出电流不对,所以验熔指这一步省不掉。
埃克森美孚EXACT:成膜性好,副牌在增韧膜圈流通量大
第二家就是本文主角——埃克森美孚的EXACT。EXACT走的是塑性体路线,密度比典型POE稍高一点,挤出成膜性好,特别适合做热封层、增韧膜、改性PE的低温抗冲。
它的副牌料在增韧膜圈子里流通量不小,原因很简单:EXACT正牌价格不便宜,但它做膜的工艺窗口宽,熔指小幅浮动对成膜影响没那么敏感,副牌用在一般包装增韧膜上,性能跟正牌肉眼难分。埃克森美孚还有个Vistamaxx系列,那是丙烯基的弹性体,跟EXACT乙烯基的不是一回事,拿货时别听混了。
三井TAFMER:偏软偏透明,做透明增韧膜是它的长项
第三家三井化学的TAFMER。TAFMER在日本和亚洲市场名气很响,超低密度、高透明、手感软是它的标签。三井的副牌料透明度保持得好,做透明增韧膜、做PP低温增韧是它的强项。
它跟陶氏、埃克森美孚的差别在于:三井牌号偏软、偏透明,陶氏偏通用全面,EXACT偏成膜加工。三家各有性格,选副牌时先想清楚你的膜是要低温柔韧,还是要透明,还是要加工稳。
选EXACT这类副牌,坑主要在这三处
一是别只看密度,增韧膜要的是熔指跟你的挤出线匹配,熔指差太多,膜厚薄不均、收卷发皱。二是雾度,做透明包装膜的,雾度差两个点,客户验货就判不合格,进厂先测雾度再投料。
三是批次,副牌容易一批一个样,多批次混着用之前,先留样做小试,确认热封强度和落袋冲击不飘。还有一条:把大包装和小包装分开管,大包装适合大批量连续生产,小包装适合小线试机,别为了贪大包装便宜,小线硬塞大袋料,受潮结块反而亏。

In the circle of people who make packaging films, the same thing can be called 'POE toughening material,' and the quoted price can jump from 18,000 to 38,000. Outsiders look at the brand on the bag, while insiders look at which company's material was actually used in that toughening layer inside the bag. What's even more interesting is that the more experienced manufacturers of high-transparency heat-seal films and stretch wrap films are, the less willing they are to write the brand of the toughening material they use on the formula sheet—not to keep it a secret, but because this industry is deeper than you think.
Also labeled as 'Imported POE Secondary Brand,' some people find that once they install it, the film surface fogs up and the sealing strength drops a notch; others are able to reduce costs by 30% while the yield rate still improves. The difference isn't luck; it lies in whether you can recognize the background behind the three words EXACT.

EXACT itself is not a category; it is a brand owned by ExxonMobil. The type of material it corresponds to is called polyolefin plastomer in industry terms, and it is related to POE elastomer—they are both produced using metallocene catalysts, copolymerizing ethylene and alpha-olefins in a fluidized bed.
The difference lies only in how much comonomer is added and which direction the density leans: if the density goes below 0.88, it becomes as soft as rubber, called POE; if the density is a bit higher, and it can still be extruded into films while retaining that segment of low-temperature toughness, that's a plastic like EXACT. Simply put, it's a material used to 'add flexibility' to PE, PP, and packaging films—adding just over ten percent improves the film's puncture resistance, heat-sealing strength, and low-temperature folding durability.
There are only a few companies in the world that can produce this thing at scale. In terms of capacity and market share, the top three foreign companies basically are on this list: Dow's ENGAGE series, ExxonMobil's EXACT series, and Mitsui Chemicals' TAFMER series. According to industry research reports, Dow accounts for roughly a quarter of the global polyolefin elastomer market, ExxonMobil a little over 20%, and Mitsui Chemicals just over 10%; together, these three hold the majority of the global market. Korean companies like LG, SK, and SABIC-SK are in the second tier. This is based on capacity share around 2025; figures vary slightly across different reports, but the top three positions have basically remained unchanged.
What exactly is an EXACT sub-label, and how is it different from recycled material?
Let's first explain the definition clearly: EXACT secondary pellets are the original factory particles from ExxonMobil of the same grade and produced from the same polymerization unit, with a molecular structure identical to the primary grade. The only difference is that during factory inspection, certain indicators—such as melt index, density, and haze—slightly deviate from the internal control limits of the primary grade, so they are not labeled as the primary grade and are sold through secondary channels. They are not regrind, not reprocessed sprues, and certainly not recycled material.
Four types of sources: the head and tail material from machine start-up and shutdown; transitional material generated when changing grades; batches with slight process fluctuations, slightly different melt index or color; and leftover material from secondary lines. The difference from regrind must be clearly understood: regrind is scrap that has been processed once in your factory and then re-pelletized, having already gone through heat once, so its performance is compromised; recycled material comes from external waste plastics, with even greater variability. Secondary grade is the virgin pellet produced during the first polymerization at the original factory, clean and batch traceable. It is also easy to identify on the packaging, which is the factory’s original packaging, available in large and small sizes.
Dow ENGAGE: Spread wide, sub-brand batches relatively aligned
The first is Dow Chemical. ENGAGE is its leading brand in the field of metallocene polyolefin elastomers, with consistently high global shipments. Dow's strength lies in its wide range of grades, from ultra-low density to injection-molding grades, and there are corresponding grades for producing toughened films and automotive modifications.
The characteristics of its secondary grade material are that the batches are relatively uniform and the index fluctuations are small. It is suitable for applications like packaging film toughening layers that are sensitive to haze. The reputation of Dow's secondary grade has always been stable. One thing to note: Dow's secondary grade is often sold mixed in circulation, with lower melt index grades pretending to be high-flow ones. The problem only becomes apparent when running the machine, as the extrusion current doesn't match, so checking the melt index cannot be skipped.
ExxonMobil EXACT: Good film-forming properties, the secondary brand circulates widely in the toughened film market
The second one is the main character of this article—Exxon's EXACT. EXACT follows the elastomer route, with a density slightly higher than typical POE. It has good extrusion film-forming properties and is especially suitable for use as a heat-sealable layer, toughening film, and improving the low-temperature impact resistance of modified PE.
Its secondary brand material has a considerable circulation in the toughening film sector, and the reason is simple: the official EXACT brand is expensive, but its film-making process has a wide window, so slight fluctuations in melt index have little impact on film formation. Using the secondary brand for general packaging toughening films, its performance is hardly distinguishable from the official brand by the naked eye. ExxonMobil also has a Vistamaxx series, which is an acrylic elastomer, not the same as the ethylene-based EXACT, so don’t get confused when sourcing it.
Mitsui TAFMER: relatively soft and transparent; making transparent toughened films is its specialty
The third one is Mitsui Chemicals' TAFMER. TAFMER is very well-known in the Japanese and Asian markets, with labels of ultra-low density, high transparency, and soft touch. Mitsui's secondary brand material maintains good transparency, and its strengths are making transparent toughened films and toughening PP at low temperatures.
The difference between it and Dow or ExxonMobil is: Mitsui grades are softer and more transparent, Dow is more general-purpose and comprehensive, and EXACT is more geared towards film formation and processing. Each of the three has its own characteristics, so when choosing a secondary brand, first think about whether your film needs to be soft and flexible at low temperatures, transparent, or stable for processing.
Choosing this type of side bet like EXACT mainly has pitfalls in these three areas
First, don’t just look at the density. For toughening films, you need a melt index that matches your extrusion line. If the melt index differs too much, the film will have uneven thickness and wrinkles when rolled. Second, haze: for transparent packaging films, if the haze differs by two points, the client will deem it unqualified upon inspection. Measure the haze before feeding the material into the production line.
Third is the batch. Sub-brands tend to be consistent within a batch, so before mixing multiple batches, first keep a sample for a small test to confirm that the heat seal strength and bag impact are stable. Another point: manage large packaging and small packaging separately. Large packaging is suitable for high-volume continuous production, while small packaging is suitable for small-line trial runs. Don't try to save money by using large packages on small lines, as moisture and clumping can cause losses.

Hengyang has a client making high-temperature steaming toughening films. Previously, they always used genuine EXACT, with hundreds of thousands of yuan per ton in the factory, and costs couldn't be reduced. Later, they tested sub-brands of the same grade, and the haze was only a fraction of a percentage point lower. The heat seal strength and low-temperature bag impact aligned with the genuine brand, so the material cost dropped by a bit, but the film factory's yield actually stayed around 95%.
This is the key to selecting sub-brands—not for cheapness, but to keep the indicator fluctuations within what is suitable for use. For example, selecting the right sub-brand density, aligning haze and melt index to extrude lines, the toughening film is made without fogging or brittleness, no picky machines during installation, and continuous material flow without interruption.
