PCTG is a high-CHDM content amorphous transparent copolyester, which is more flexible, chemical-resistant, resistant to boiling and sterilizing, strong low-temperature shock resistance, BPA-free, and used in baby water cups, medical aesthetic devices, cosmetic packaging, e-cigarette casings, and optical lenses. Globally, PCTG has long been dominated by Eastman (USA) and SK Chemical (Korea), with grades such as Eastman Tritan series. Domestic companies have only filled the gap in the past two years: Shandong Daoen Co., Ltd.'s Daoen Hefu independently developed PETG/PCTG and CHDM projects, with PCTG grades HF500, HF503, HF505 and other series formed. PCTG sub-brands come from, and how to distinguish them from PETG and PC
PCTG sub-brands come from polymerization device start-stop materials, grade switching transition materials, and batches with slight melt index or hue deviations caused by process fluctuations. They are still original factory virgin PCTG pellets, with a high CHDM flexible framework consistent with genuine products, with slight fluctuations in some indicators, not recycled materials. PCTG must be distinguished from PETG and PC: PETG tends to be rigid and has slightly lower heat resistance; PCTG is more flexible, resistant to boiling, and resistant to stress cracking; PC is transparent but contains bisphenol A, which is controversial and prone to stress cracking. Don't pass PETG as PCTG to match baby water cups, and don't use PC as BPA-free transparent material to advertise. PCTG secondary brand selection pitfalls
First, test before signing. PCTG secondary brand melt index and transparency grade deviations affect injection and blowout; customers first sample and measure light transmission, temperature resistance, and melting index, then sign bulk contracts. Second, identify counterfeits. Baby water cups must claim to be BPA-free. If you use PETG or PC as a counterfeit, you need to rely on boil resistance and BPA test cards. Third, use genuine products for food contact and maternal and infant certification; use secondary brands for general transparent parts. Fourth, drying: PCTG absorbs moisture and is thoroughly dried before pouring or blowing. Fifth, regarding grades, the HF500 series is classified by use; do not use general-purpose grades to make transparent mother-and-baby grades. Additionally, PCTG has a slightly narrower processing temperature window than PETG; secondary brands test at low temperature limits to avoid degradation and yellowing.
