老冯在宁波做齿轮,仓库里压着十八吨POM原包料。上个月那个微型电机项目突然黄了,袋口的日期还是大半年前的。POM这料做齿轮、凸轮、紧固件,精度要求高,可一旦项目停了,剩下的料跟一堆硬塑料渣子没区别——齿轮厂不认别人的料,别的厂又不敢乱用POM。仓管翻着台账跟他说:"冯总,这料放久了分解出甲醛,味儿都不对了。"老冯闻了闻袋口,皱着眉没说话。
POM呆滞料,是齿轮厂老板不愿意见的场面。
POM放久了会分解,跟剩菜放馊了一样,救不回来。
POM为什么难处理?它自带甲醛单元,存放条件差或者温度一高,就慢慢降解,越放越脆,跟旧塑料尺一样——新的时候挺硬挺,放两年一掰就断。齿轮厂、轴承厂一次备料就是几吨,一旦订单取消、配方改了,仓库立刻压下一整批。POM还分均聚和共聚,分耐磨级和普通级,价差不小,可它们长在袋子里长得差不多,外行人分不出。统货商拿到手,先按普通级压你,再拿"这料放久了降解了"砍一刀。你自己要是分不清100P和M90,就只能任人宰割。
POM的折旧,是从拆封那天就开始算的。
还有个细节:POM分均聚和共聚,齿轮厂、轴承厂各认各的体系,混堆之后统货商只按便宜的共聚算。你当年分着备的货,卖的时候却被一锅端,光这一项就差出好几个点。
再说收废料的。你打一圈电话,报价一个比一个低,你还纳闷"怎么POM行情这么差"——不是行情差,是人家知道POM放久了掉价。统货商的套路你早能背:电话里报个高价勾你,上门一闻袋口有味道,立刻说"这料降解了,只能按次品收",砍你一二十个点。有些更绝,专挑你急着清仓的时候压价——你不是要腾地方吗?不卖给我,下个月味儿更大。说白了,他不是在收货,是在拿你的降解跟你讨价还价。
你闻着是酸味,他闻着是利润。

把发酸味的料,变成新料额度,比把它继续放酸强。

避坑三条。"POM放着慢慢用?"真相是降解不可逆,越放越脆。"谁报价高卖给谁?"真相是到手压秤、挑毛病、拖款的,比三家你还是亏。"均聚共聚混着装?"真相是混料才被压价,分级才卖得上价。

Old Feng makes gears in Ningbo, and the warehouse holds eighteen tons of raw POM material. Last month, that micro motor project suddenly went through the list, and the bag was dated more than half a year ago. POM material for gears, cams, and fasteners requires high precision, but once the project stops, the remaining material is no different from a pile of hard plastic scraps—the gear factory doesn't recognize others' materials, and other factories don't dare to use POM recklessly. The warehouse manager flipped through the ledger and said to him, "Mr. Feng, if this material is stored too long, it will decompose into formaldehyde, and the smell will be off." Old Feng sniffed the bag opening and frowned without saying a word.
POM Stagnant material is a scene the gear factory owner doesn't want to see.
POM will decompose if left too long, like leftover food that spoils and can't be saved. Why is
POM so hard to handle? It comes with a formaldehyde unit, and when stored under poor conditions or at high temperatures, it slowly degrades, becoming more brittle the more you store it, just like an old plastic ruler—new it's quite stiff, but after two years, it breaks when snapped. Gear and bearing factories stock several tons at a time, and once an order is canceled or the formula changes, the warehouse immediately packs a whole batch. POM is also divided into homopolymer and copolymer, wear-resistant and regular grades, with significant price differences, but they grow almost identically in bags, making it hard for outsiders to tell them apart. When the wholesaler gets the product, they first treat it as a regular grade, then take a knife saying "this material has degraded after sitting too long." If you can't tell 100P from M90, you're left to be at the mercy of others.
POM depreciation starts from the day the package is opened.
Another detail: POM is divided into equal aggregation and copolymerization. Gear and bearing factories each have their own systems, and after mixing, the consolidater only counts as the cheaper aggregation. The goods you prepared back then get sold out in one go, and just this alone is several percentage points off.
Now let's talk about the scrap collectors. You call around and quote lower than the last, and you still wonder, "Why is POM so bad?" — it's not that the market is bad, but that they know POM has dropped in price after sitting too long. You've already memorized the tactics of wholesalers: they quote you a high price over the phone to lure you in, then when they arrive and smell the bag smell, they immediately say, "This material has degraded, so you can only accept it as defective," cutting you by 10 to 20 points. Some are even more aggressive, targeting you when you're eager to clear out your stock—aren't you trying to make room? If you don't sell to me, the smell will be even worse next month. To put it bluntly, they're not actually buying goods—they're using your degraded materials to bargain with you.
You smell sour, but he smells profit.

We bring them back to the factory for impact and flow grading, then enter our own modified formulas and digest them proportionally, without picking by brand or batch. Pricing is based on grade, by polymerization and polymerization, by appearance and measured physical properties, with clear pricing—not a fixed price for general goods. You send us the POM grade, quantity, packaging, smell, and photos, and we will grade and quote based on the actual product. Once we reach an agreement, we will deliver the goods to your door. The recyclable payment can be directly used to offset your subsequent purchase of new materials—we have our own KONICE modified plastics series for engineering plastics. Ningbo Lao Feng's 18-ton POM, after evaluation, was priced separately for homopolymer and copolymer, directly offsetting about half of his payment for KONICE's modified material in the second half of the year. The bags with odor at the mouth weren't treated as defective and counted separately.
Turning acid-smelling material into new material quota is better than adding acid again.
We're very familiar with recyclable POM grades. DuPont Delrin 100P, 500P, 900P; Celanus Hostaform C 9021, C 27021, Celcon M90; Poly Duracon M90, M270; Yuntianhua POM M90, M25, N90—these mainstream grades are all within the regular range; Other brands welcome feedback, but physical appraisals will prevail. Recyclable forms include obsolete original packaging (both full and bulk packages are fine), sprue and gate materials, gear scrap and machine head scrap, gear scrap and defective products, as well as inventory scraps; Homopolymerization and wear resistance grades should be classified separately as much as possible to increase appraised prices.
Three pitfalls to avoid. "POM should be used slowly and left unused?" The truth is that degradation is irreversible, and the more you store it, the more brittle it becomes. "Who sells to whom at the highest price?" The truth is, when you get the weight, find faults, and delay payments, you're still losing money compared to the three. "Mixing and copolymerization?" The truth is, only mixed materials get pushed down at a price; grading is the way to get a higher price.
