Lao He opened an agricultural film factory in Wuwei and last year followed the mulch film substitution policy and launched a PBST biodegradable mulch film line. But as soon as the new materials were trialed, the agricultural technology station changed the degradation cycle and residue requirements, and the batch of domestic PBST copolyester in the warehouse sat on the pallet for nearly half a year. Because of the dampness in the northwest spring and the material grains stuck together, the money on the ledger still hung on "biodegradable mulch film material"—in other words, dead money lying on the account.
With policies pushing for plastic film upgrades, trial production materials are in hand, and agricultural film owners feel the difference this year.
Obsolete material is not an asset, but a liability lying on the books.
PBST this material is a degradable copolyester modified from PBS for weather resistance, specifically designed for degradable mulch film. But like all biodegradable materials, it is naturally eaten by microorganisms, has a low melting point, and absorbs moisture—when warehouse humidity rises, the surface of the material particles hydrolyzes and then self-bonds into clumps, similar to how old cotton jackets become damp. As you sit there, it "softens" on its own. What's even more troublesome is that in the past two years, there have been many new installations, and the brand names haven't been standardized yet. Batch differences are significant, and mixing them causes the resulting mulch film degradation cycles to match. If you don't understand grading, mix trial production edges and raw materials into one bag, and the seller will give you the standard price, selling the good material at a junk price. Over time, the labels wear off, and you can't even see the production date.
Biodegradable material isn't waiting for prices to rise, it's waiting for it to quietly age on its own.
Let me tell a true story: Old He once found a scrap dealer who drove a small truck over, circled the warehouse twice, and said, "Your material is clumped and sticky, I'm afraid it'll decompose soon. I'll calculate the wholesale price for you." Old He thought about quickly making room and agreed. But after weighing, the other party started picking bags again—this bag was dirty, that had a smudged label, and the price was cut by a few hundred per ton. Old He felt frustrated, but the goods were already loaded, so what could he do?
The wholesaler's calculations are even more precise than your accountant's—picking out good materials and charging them as inferior products, returning trendy goods as shipping fees. If you try to buy them, they're not making money from scrap, but money from those who don't understand the trade.
The vendor's quotation sheet is like a weather forecast—just glance at it before you leave, don't take it seriously.
Colon New Materials follows a terminal digestion route for PBST recycling, not relying on resale to make a profit from the price difference. Mainstream domestic manufacturers like Wanhua Chemical and Kingfa Technology use PBST copolyester for downstream biodegradable mulch film, packaging plants have been using it, and after grading, they are immediately taken away without inventory constraints. We don't pick out trial production leftovers, batches of mixed materials, or slightly self-adhesive ingredients—they are digested in Cologne's own modified formula, just like mixing traditional Chinese medicine. If one flavor has a slightly more fluid effect, the other ingredient can be restored.
Pricing is not one-size-fits-all. Grades by melting fingers, appearance, moisture absorption and degradability: original new materials get good prices, mild hydrolysis is charged by modified grade, and the price difference between each tier is laid out. Plus, with our own production capacity and long-term customers as a backup, prices don't fluctuate wildly with market trends. When prices rise, they chase after you; when prices drop, they ignore calls. We still get what we deserve.
Good materials aren't afraid of no buyers; what's scary is selling good materials as waste.
The five-step cooperation process: material submission, graded evaluation, on-site pickup, deduction of payment, settlement and invoice. That's how Old He left—he took a few photos and sent them, labeled the category and about seven tons, we appraised and quoted a price, and scheduled a time for on-site weighing. After the goods were brought back, the recycling payment was directly deducted from the next month's purchase of KONICE modified plastics, about half of the total. So the warehouse was cleared, the cash was back, and the new materials arrived at the factory. After one trip, he told me he should have handled it two years earlier.
The essence of recycling isn't selling waste, it's turning dead money into working money.
Recyclable PBST covers major domestic manufacturers such as Wanhua Chemical, Kingfa Technology, Xinjiang Tianye, Lanshan Tunhe, Sinopec Hainan, and PBST copolyester. Specific grades are subject to physical appraisal. In terms of form, they collect: obsolete original packaging (whole bags or loose bags are fine), trial production leftovers, film blown edges and corners, self-adhesive lump materials, and inventory scraps. Biodegradable materials have short shelf life and become less valuable the longer they are delayed. If you notice backlog, report it early.
Three common misconceptions, here is a reminder—
"Is recycling just selling cheaply?" "The truth is that quality is sold by grade and grade; good materials can sell at good prices, while mixed materials get underpriced."
"Is biodegradable material just sitting there safe?" "The truth is, it's inherently degradable, and after absorbing moisture and sticking itself, its strength drops even faster."
"Who offered the highest price and sold to whom?" "The truth is, you bargain, weigh down, and delay payments when you get the price, so comparing prices to the three is actually a loss."
