The shirt on the hanger slid down, leaving a ring of adhesive marks. The coating and temperature resistance didn't match, and a good piece of clothing was ruined.
The clothes sliding down is not because they weren't hung properly, it's because there's not enough friction.
Hanger coating is a 'component for anti-slip clothing hanging': anti-slip, flame retardant, and weather resistant. The material should be anti-slip, flame retardant, and weather resistant — conclusion first: SEBS-based TPE is the mainstream for hanger coating; for export hangers, flame retardant TPE is preferred.
The biggest pitfall of coated hangers: the flame retardant rating is one level lower, and the application is one tier behind. One level lower in flame retardancy means one tier behind in application—the flame retardancy is the crucial layer line of the hanger.
Hanger coating is a daily necessity: slipping and cracking are problems. Only with the right material will the hanger be stable — for daily necessities, don’t skimp on material costs.
Baked by the sun and hot wind every day, why use TPE?
Reasons for using TPE to coat hangers: can be made non-slip, can be made flame-retardant, can be made weather-resistant, high efficiency — put together, suitable for coating.
Non-slip is key: hangers should be non-slip. Include non-slip testing in the inspection—if it slips, it's a problem.
Flame retardancy cannot be compromised: export requirements. Flame retardancy testing is included in the acceptance—if the rating is different, it's a problem.
Hanging clothes, sun drying, flame retardancy—what does each stage check?
Clothing hanging condition: anti-slip for hanging clothes. Anti-slip data must be tested—slipping is a problem.
Sun exposure condition: The balcony gets sunlight. Weather resistance data needs to be verified—aging is the issue.
Flame-retardant conditions: export requirements. Flame-retardant data need to be verified—the difference in grade is the problem.
TPE soft rubber versus PVC, which one to choose for hangers
| Dimension | SEBS-based TPE | PVC |
|---|
| Non-slip | Good | Can do |
| Flame retardant | Can do | Can do |
| weather-resistant | Good | general |
| smell | Controllable | Yi has flavor |
| Cost | Medium-high | Low |
| Purpose | mainstream | Low price |
Table reading: PVC is cheap but weather resistance and odor are average; TPE has good slip resistance and weather resistance — for hanger coating, TPE is mainstream.
Choose by positioning: mainstream TPE, low-cost PVC.
Hangs firmly without leaving marks, test these four items for acceptance
| Level | Application | Judgment |
|---|
| HB | Household | Meet the standard |
| V2 | Export | Meet the standard |
| V1 | Export | Meet the standard |
| V0 | harsh | Meet the standard |
Table reading method: Go through the glowing wire step by step from ordinary material to flame-retardant material. Do not save on grade for wardrobe items — if flame-retardant is one grade lower, the applicable scenarios are reduced by one circle.
Flame retardant is the looped line of the hanger.
Only looking at the color without testing for flame retardancy is most dangerous on hot days
Pitfall 1: Only look at the color. If rubber-coated hangers are to enter public places and the flame-retardant report is missing, they will be rejected — the flame-retardant rating follows the usage scenario.
Pitfall 2: Missed anti-slip testing. Slippage—anti-slip testing is a must.
Pitfall three: weather resistance omission. Aging—weather resistance testing must be conducted.
Friction, heat resistance, flame retardancy — check before building the frame
Three questions: where is it exported to, what is the flame-retardant rating, and according to what standard are clothes hung. One verification: test with actual usage — three questions and one verification, supplier details are clear.
Flame retardant verification must come first: determine the glow wire and oxygen index according to the place of use, and ensure the report is complete. Test for flame retardancy first, then discuss the price—flame retardancy is the circle line of the hanger.
Making sample retention a habit: retain samples from each batch, and retest slip resistance and flame retardancy by batch. When changing materials between batches, compare first before increasing the volume—stable batches result in fewer customer complaints.
Smudging, Fingerprints, Discoloration: A Fault Comparison Table
| Phenomenon | Reason | Countermeasure |
|---|
| slip | Insufficient slip resistance | Replace the anti-slip material |
| Aging | Insufficient weather resistance | Replace with weather-resistant material |
| Level difference | Insufficient flame retardancy | Change the fuel to flame retardant |
| Cracking | Insufficient flexibility | Switch to higher flexibility material |
| Batch Drift | Formula fluctuation | Lock window |
The hanger’s coating comes off while hanging, with the soft rubber peeling off the plastic skeleton in whole pieces—the peel strength is insufficient, causing clothes to slide to the floor. PP substrate coated with SEBS has a peel strength below 0.5 kN/m, not suitable for mass production; the hanging rod is under long-term tension, and the soft rubber cannot peel off.
The hanger's soft rubber has a Shore A hardness of around 70, making it sturdy to hold clothes without damaging them. The anti-slip pattern is specially designed; smooth hangers tend to slip. Peel strength is tested at 1.0-2.0 kN/m, and it does not delaminate after 5000 bends.
PVC coated with plastic is cheap but contains phthalates, while TPE is phthalate-free and recyclable. In a closed wardrobe environment with clothes in contact with the skin, TPE has low migration; for export flame retardancy, it depends on the customer's grade, with a glowing wire test of 750℃ being the passing line.
Three steps for overmolding inspection: first measure the peel strength, then hang the clothes for 24 hours to see if they don't slip, and finally pass the temperature and humidity cycle. Degrease the PP substrate surface, adjust the mold temperature according to the SEBS system; specify the soft rubber thickness of 0.8-1.2mm in the drawing.
Clothes slipping off is not because the hanger is crooked, but because the soft rubber's anti-slip coefficient is insufficient or its hardness is too high. Anti-slip is not about how it feels, but about being able to hold the clothes; adjusting the formula to increase friction patterns is more fundamental than just thickening the hanger's frame.
Hanger coating needs to be non-slip yet not catch threads. TPE is soft but not sticky, rough but not coarse; if it's too sticky it catches threads, if it's too slippery clothes fall off.
Choose a dry and non-slip formula, so wet clothes do not slip off the hanger; test each batch for surface feel and peel strength, and only ship when the soft rubber does not come off the base.
The hanger also needs to be wash-resistant and moisture-resistant. Hanging it in a bathroom with heavy humidity, ordinary materials will become sticky over time; each batch is re-tested for the surface, ensuring it does not catch threads or slip off the shoulders before increasing the quantity.
Hanger final inspection: Peel strength, anti-slip without snagging, and moisture resistance are checked in each batch.
Test the peel strength and wet clothes rubbing for each batch sample; ensure no slipping off the shoulders and no snagging. When changing materials for a batch, first do a small batch trial hang, and only ship after confirming no edge detachment.
Cologne Customer Case: Insufficient oil resistance causing swelling and deformation, compared with products aged over 1000 hours
A home daily-use products factory in Yangzhou had hangers with insufficient oil-resistant coating, which swelled and deformed after soaking in oil. Cologne cooperated on-site for production debugging until the yield stabilized, swelling was eliminated, and it passed the 1000-hour aging test in one go. During production debugging, we locked the swelling before mass production—regarding the oil resistance issue, first look at the formulation, then at the parameters.
Summary
For the selection of hangers with rubber coating, test for flame retardancy first, then check for anti-slip. If the flame retardant rating is lower by one level, the application is one circle less; flame retardancy is represented by the circle layer line.
