太软的一咬一周就留下深牙印、还容易留口水印;
劣质色母迁移物一样会“出汗”;

If the pacifier is boiled ten times, it becomes sticky and sheds flakes, and the baby refuses milk and cries. Choosing the wrong pacifier rebound and safety is an error; nothing that goes into the mouth can go wrong even a step.
After boiling ten times, it becomes sticky and sheds flakes, and the baby refuses to drink it.
A pacifier is an 'oral sucking item': resilient, safe, and bite-resistant. The material should be resilient, safe, and bite-resistant — conclusion first: for regular pacifiers, food-grade SEBS-based TPE is mainstream; for high-end pacifiers, silicone remains.
The biggest pitfall of pacifiers: TPE competes on performance, silicone competes on price. TPE competes on performance, silicone competes on price—positioning is the dividing line of pacifiers.
Pacifiers are children's items: stickiness and cracking are both problems. Choosing the right material gives parents peace of mind—don't skimp on materials for children's items.
Why do pacifiers tend to favor TPE?
Reasons for using TPE for pacifiers: good rebound, safe, chew-resistant, high efficiency — together, these four make it suitable for pacifiers.
Rebound is key: suck and rebound. Rebound tests are written into acceptance—if the rebound is poor, it's a problem.
Safety cannot be compromised: contact at the entrance. Write the certification number into the acceptance—no certification, there is a problem.
Suck-resistant, bite-resistant, three levels of protection
Suction condition: suction rebound. Rebound data needs to be checked—the rebound difference is the problem.
Disinfection conditions: high-temperature disinfection. Temperature resistance data must be tested—deformation indicates a problem.
Bite-resistant conditions: long teeth biting. Tear data must be checked—cracking is a problem.
Food-grade TPE or silicone? A comparison of pacifiers
| Dimension | Food-grade TPE | Silicone |
|---|
| rebound | Good | Good |
| Safety | Tall | Tall |
| Temperature resistant | Can be done | Good |
| Cost | Medium-high | Medium-high |
| Efficiency | Injection molding | Vulcanization |
| Positioning | Performance model | High-end model |
Table reading: Silicone has good temperature resistance but cures slowly; TPE is efficient — performance nipples use TPE, high-end uses silicone.
Choose by positioning: high-end silicone, performance TPE.
Pacifier Acceptance: TPE Combined Performance Silicone Combined Price
| Positioning | Material | Selling point |
|---|
| Performance | TPE | rebound |
| High-end | Silicone | Temperature resistant |
| affordable | TPE | Cost-performance ratio |
| Special Care | Silicone | Safety |
Table reading method: Arrange rebound, chew resistance, and unit price in a row, then match them according to budget and feel — for performance, choose an SEBS-based material; for skin friendliness, look at silicone.
Positioning is the dividing line for pacifiers.
Positioning mixed selection, three pits rebound leakage
Pitfall 1: Mixed positioning. Trying to get TPE performance at silicone prices ends up reaching neither end—first decide whether to go for volume or high-end, then check the material list.
Pitfall 2: Rebound testing omission. Poor rebound — rebound test, must be tested.
Pitfall three: Temperature resistance leakage testing. Deformation — temperature resistance testing must be conducted.
Choose a pacifier according to the position
Three questions: What level is it positioned at, what is the certification number, and what is the disinfection method? One verification: actual use and measurements—three questions and one verification, the supplier's details are clear.
Positioning verification comes first: separate the budgets and feel of high-volume and high-end models into two columns. First position, then discuss price — positioning is the boundary for pacifiers.
Make sample retention a habit: retain samples for each batch, and retest rebound safety by batch. Before switching materials between batches, compare them first before scaling up—the batch is stable, and customer complaints are few.
Pacifiers: Old Problems, New Solutions, A Comparison Table
| Phenomenon | Reason | Countermeasure |
|---|
| Poor rebound | Insufficient dosage/formulation | Replace with high-resilience material |
| Transformation | Insufficient temperature resistance | Change to heat-resistant material |
| Cracking | Insufficient bite resistance | Switch to high-tear material |
| sticky | Additive migration | Change to low precipitation material |
| Unverified | Certificate missing | Nuclear Certification |
The mainstream pacifier has a Shore A hardness of 30-40; it should rebound quickly when sucked, and the flow hole size should be stable. When bitten, it deforms but immediately returns to shape when released, allowing the child to suck effortlessly—pacifiers with slow rebound are tiring to suck.
Silicone nipples can withstand boiling temperatures and feel softer, while TPE nipples pass LFGB and cost half as much. For frequent sterilization, choose silicone; for budget and supply chain considerations, choose food-grade TPE. Set the positioning first before selecting the material.
Pacifiers become sticky and retain teeth marks after a week; don't just blame the material—impurities from low-quality colorants can 'sweat' in the same way. The colorants and additives in the parts that go into the mouth must be food-grade, as excessive migration can be even more dangerous than the base material itself.
Three things to check when accepting pacifiers: They do not deform under high-temperature sterilization, are bite- and tear-resistant without fraying, and have stable rebound after sucking. Tested by boiling at 100℃ and simulating teething bites, with reports issued per batch.
Switch to food-grade low-migration SEBS material, the nipple won't turn white after boiling 100 times, and won't leave deep teeth marks after two weeks of biting. The gap between the nipple and the bottle is tightly locked, sealing without leaking milk.
The pacifier is an item that goes into the mouth. Shore A 30-40 is the sweet spot for sucking sensation; if it's one level softer, it might get chewed up during teething, and if it's one level harder, the child will hold it without sucking. If the pacifier is too hard, the child will have to work hard to suck it and may choke easily.
If it's too soft, a single bite can leave deep teeth marks in a week, and it also easily leaves saliva marks;
Choose a SEBS-based low exudation formula; after boiling a hundred times, the surface does not turn white or become sticky, and retesting shows the texture remains unchanged. The biting areas are reinforced with thickened, bite-resistant sections.
When inspecting incoming parts, don’t just focus on whether they’re soft; the LFGB report and colorant migration levels are the real bottom line. Pacifiers go into the mouth every day, and migration of colorants and plasticizers to the surface is more dangerous than the base material itself.
Impurities in low-quality color masterbatches can also 'sweat';
For each batch, after sampling and boiling, check the appearance and rebound after biting. Release the batch if it is not sticky and does not leave deep marks. When changing materials for a batch, conduct a blind comparison test before scaling up.
Final pacifier inspection: Boiling, biting, and rebound tests are carried out with each batch, and the product will not be shipped if any item is missing. For each batch, a 6mm thick sample piece is retained, and Shore A is measured at 23°C; only within ±3A is it released. Boil one hundred times and check that the surface does not turn white or sticky.
After biting, test the rebound to ensure no deep mark is left. When switching material batches, start with a blind test. Only discuss reorders once the customer cannot feel any difference between batches.
Cologne Customer Case: Unstable Shrinkage Rate and Size Fluctuations, Small Batch Trial Production Continues with Three Orders
A mother and baby products factory in Zhongshan had unstable shrinkage rates for pacifiers, with large size fluctuations. Cologne cooperated on small-batch trial production verification before ramping up production. The sizes were stable, and the client placed repeat orders for three consecutive batches. Small-batch trial production locks the sizes before mass production—the shrinkage rate problem should be exposed during the trial phase.
Summary
For pacifier selection, first determine the positioning, then test the rebound. TPE is chosen for performance, silicone for cost—positioning is the dividing line.
